  1. 'Cap_Zeen_NIGHT' folders in images section of P51D/Su25T/F15C downloads Hi, I have been working on my Helios setup for Cap Zeen's profiles and have a question. I have downloaded the P51D/F15C/Ka50/Ka50 NIGHT/Su25T Helios packages (I already have Cap Loz' A-10C profile on my PC) from Cap Zeen's site and have copied and pasted the profiles into the Helios Profile Editor and went to copy the images into Helios/Images but have another issue. I found what I presume to be the main images folders but am confused about the folders called, 'Cap_Zeen_NIGHT' that were also in the F15C/P51D/Su25T images section (as well as in the 'Ka50 NIGHT OPERATIONS' package of course). There were 'Airport charts' and 'Area map' folders in these 'Cap_Zeen_NIGHT' folders and I am not sure what to do with them. Do I copy the 'Cap_Zeen_NIGHT' folders that are in each of the F15C/Su25T/P51D packages into User/My Documents/Helios/Images, merging the 'Cap_Zeen_NIGHT' folders each time with the pre-existing ones and overwriting any files with the same names? I take it that they put the 'Cap_Zeen_NIGHT' folder in the F15C/Su25T/P51D packages for a reason but given the name I am not sure what I should do. :helpsmilie: Thanks for any help, OZTRIPWIRE
  2. Still have crosses on screen in Helios Profile Editor Hi MadDog-IC, Thanks very much for the reply. I have copied the Ka50 1920*1080 images into the User/My Documents/Helios/Images folder and have overwritten the files already in that folder that had the same names. I merged the folders that shared the same names as well. I thought that doing this would get rid of the crosses all over the screen when I load the Cap Zeen Ka50 Helios profile in the Profile Editor but it did not. (I attached an attachment showing what the screen still looks like). I read that the screen had these crosses all over it because the images were not in the My Documents/Helios/images folder properly, but I just copied them in there and the crosses still show up. Can anyone please tell me what I have done wrong and how to get rid of the crosses and get the screen to show up properly in the Helios Profile Editor? Thanks, OZTRIPWIRE Attachment re crosses on screen for Ka50 helios profile.pdf
  3. Copying into Helios/Images Hi, Can anyone who understands how Helios works please tell me if slightly changing the names of some of the images that have to be pasted into User/My Documents/Helios/Images when setting up a Helios profile will cause problems? I have to copy and paste images into Helios/Images and have some files with the same names (as I mentioned previously). Thanks, OZTRIPWIRE
  4. Overwrite Cap Loz A-10C charts in Helios/Images with Cap Zeen Ka50 ones? Hi, Thanks very much for your advice, it is much appreciated. I have another question though about setting up Cap Zeen's Ka50 Helios profile. I already have the Helios images for Cap Loz's A-10C Helios profile in Helios/Images and I tried to copy and paste the Ka50 images from the Cap Zeen Helios downloadable package into the User/My Documents/Helios/Images section and selected to overwrite the files already there with the same names (I did this as there were already Ka50 files there from the past but I believe that they were for the wrong resolution setup because crosses show up on the screen in the Profile Editor), but when I tried to copy and paste then overwrite the files with the same names the program tells me that I already have an ‘Airports charts’ folder and do I still want to merge the folders. It said that I will be notified if any files have the same names in these two folders (that of the Airports charts folders in User/My Documents/Helios/Images and the Airports charts folder that came with Cap Zeen's downloadable package). I checked and some have the same names but the layout of some of the charts seem to differ slightly. My question is, should I overwrite the files in the ‘Airport charts’ etc folders with the same names or copy in the Cap Zeen Ka50 download package images and not overwrite the pre-existing ones in the 'Airports charts' etc folder? If I did the latter then the program would slightly change the names of those Ka50 files I am trying to put into Helios/Images for me. Like I said I have Cap Loz’s A10C profile images already in Helios/Images and have compared those with the Cap Zeen downloadable package images and like I mentioned some of the Airport charts seem to be slightly different. Will overwriting the A-10C ‘Airports charts’charts with the ones that share the same names from the Cap Zeen downloadable package cause problems with my current Cap Loz A-10C Helios profile? Also, am I right in thinking that when I open Cap Zeen’s Ka50 profile in the Helios Profile Editor and crosses show up on it that that is because the images are not in it properly? That is what I read but is that the only reason? Hope this makes sense and thanks very much for any help, OZTRIPWIRE
  5. Thanks for info on flying more realistically in DCS Hi esb77, jcbak, flyer49 and P*Funk, Sorry for taking so long to answer you but thanks very much for the info on the more realistic ways to fly DCS that I asked about. I appreciate it. OZTRIPWIRE
  6. Hi, Is it possible for me to delete the contents of the ‘User/My Documents/Helios/Images’ folder and then replace it without causing problems with current Helios profiles in use? I have the A-10C Helios profile of Cap Loz on my touchscreen at the moment and am trying to set up Cap Zeen’s Ka50 Helios profile but may have made a mistake in the setup process and need to know if deleting then replacing the contents of this ‘Images’ folder will cause problems. I really would appreciate any help, OZTRIPWIRE
  7. Hi, I am working at setting up Cap Zeen’s Ka50 v1.0b Helios profile for 1920x1080 monitors and have some questions that I would really appreciate some help with. Can I have in my 'User/My Documents/Helios/Images' folder (where I obviously have to copy the images for the profile) files from the Ka50 profile I am working on now (the v1.0b profile for 1920x1080 monitors) and files from Cap Zeen's v1.0 (not v1.0b) Ka50 Helios profile which were designed for different resolution monitors (16:10 etc) ? I have these v1.0 files in my Images section along with my A-10C images. Will Helios be able to run properly if I leave these old files for a different resolution setup in Images and copy in the v1.0b image files from Cap Zeen’s download package into there as well? I don’t know how to easily delete the old Ka50 images without deleting the A-10C ones, is this possible? Also, if there is multiple copies of the same v1.0b image files in the Images folder will that cause problems? I'm still trying to get my head around this sort of thing and I really would appreciate any help. Thanks, OZTRIPWIRE
  8. Hi, I am looking for some information about semi-formal/formal protocol and procedures for flying the aircraft in DCS, especially in regards to flying coop missions online. I want to start learning how the aircraft actually are flown in reality and apply that to my flying in DCS and would really appreciate it if anyone could put me on to this information. The aircraft I am interested in are mainly the A10C, Ka50, Su27and F15C but others like the Mustang and Huey as well. I looked around but couldn’t find this information. Thanks for any help, OZTRIPWIRE
  9. Hi, Thanks very much for the ‘export.lua’ file Cap Zeen, it is much appreciated. Just have a few questions for anyone before working on setting the Helios profile up though, just wanted to clarify a few things. Thanks for any help. Am I right in thinking that setting up the Ka50/A10C Helios profiles by Cap Zeen and Cap Loz respectively using this new ‘export.lua’ file will not cause problems with my pre-existing A10C Helios touchscreen profile by Cap Loz, using a different export.lua file?It won’t mess up that A10C profile will it as it has its own monitor configuration file under the Options menu in DCS World? Just thought I had better check. I take it that I can use any number of export.lua files even those programming the same aircraft under the User/My Name/Saved Games/DCS/Scripts section, with no problems created? How does it work in regards to ‘Adding an Interface’ when setting up an aircraft (e.g. the A10C) that has already been set up in the Profile Editor using a separate Export.lua file? Do I have to add the A10C interface again when setting it up for the second time? Also, does the export.lua file created when adding the A10C as an interface in the Profile Editor cover the Ka50 as well or will it create a new export.lua file for the Ka50? I also was wondering whether there is a very detailed step by step guide to setting up Cap Zeen’s Ka50 Helios profile like the one I followed by DerekM for setting up Cap Loz’ Helios profile for the A10C? I haven’t found one yet and I found that guide very useful. Thanks for putting up with my questions. Really appreciate any help. OZTRIPWIRE (Sorry if I posted this twice)

  12. Hi, I am a total noob with Helios and have a question about it. Any help would really be appreciated. I have just set up Cap Loz’ A10C Helios profile on a touchscreen and now want to set up Cap Zeen’s Ka50 profile but have an issue I need to resolve. The guide I was following deleted the code of the Ka50 in the Export example.lua file that it was modifying while setting up the Loz profile. This Export example.lua file was downloaded from this forum, from a group of files created by PeterP (called ‘All_Exports_ON_for A-10C_and_Ka-50_in_DCS World-1.2.5’) I deleted this code of the Ka50 and foolishly did not think to backup that ‘Export example.lua’ file before saving it. My question is, have I ruined my chances of successfully setting up Cap Zeen’s Ka50 Helios profile by deleting this code for the Ka50 in this lua file? If so, what do I do? Would it work if I downloaded the files by PeterP again and copy and paste the code relating to the Ka50 from that back into my finished ‘DCS World/Config/Monitor Setup file which was the end result of modifying the ‘Export example.lua’ file that I mentioned earlier? Is there a better way? Is there even a need to do any of this, that is, will I be able to set up the Cap Zeen Ka50 Helios profile without this code of the Ka50 in the ‘Export example.lua file’? Will the 'lua' file in the Cap Zeen Ka50 Helios profile package suffice? I am still on a learning curve with this and trying to understand how this all works so thanks for any help. OZTRIPWIRE
  13. Hi, I have run into a problem with the A10C Cap Loz Helios profile I was using in DCS and really would appreciate some help with it. I managed to get the profile set up and working (including viewports) but now for some reason the viewports have all gone blank. They were working fine one week then the next they just came up blank. I did purchase/download the Aviojet and accompanying update around the time in between when they were working fine and when they were not, has anything been changed in that update/module download that has affected my touchscreen this way? Has anyone else run into this problem? How can I fix it? Also I should mention that when I first set up the profile and got the touchscreen working for the MFDs etc the MFDs in the cockpit went blank when using the A10C without the touchscreen and worked fine when using that touchscreen but later on (probably after a subsequent update of DCS World) came back on when using the A10C with no touchscreen. Hope that makes sense. If anyone could help me with this I would very much appreciate it as this is my first time setting up a Helios profile and I am still trying to learn how it all works. The touchscreen I am using is a Viewsonic TD2420 27inch screen. Thanks, OZTRIPWIRE These are my PC specs- Intel Core i7-4770 CPU @3.40GHz LGA 1150, 8GB Corsair DDR3 1600MHz RAM, 64 bit operating system, Leadtek GTX 660TI PCI-E 2GB 192-bit DDR5 graphics card, Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3 4xDDR3 motherboard. 14. Hi, I have a question regarding how to properly overwrite ‘init.lua’ files in the setup of a touchscreen with Cap Loz’s A10C Helios profile. I am going through the steps (following draft A of DerekM’s guide) and need to overwrite some of the original ‘init.lua’ files (found under, ‘DCSWorld\Mods\aircrafts\A-10C \Cockpit\Scripts\’ ) with ones written up by PeterP and saved into his file on the forums called ‘All_Exports_ON_for A-10C_and_Ka-50_in _DCS World -1.2.5.rar’. DerekM’s guide said to go to the section of these files by PeterP called, ‘..\A10C installed\1. MFCDs in Cockpit ON\DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\A-10C\Cockpit\Scripts\’ and copy some ‘ init.lua’ files from there into the ‘DCSWorld\Mods\aircrafts\A-10C \Cockpit\Scripts\’ section, overwriting the original ‘init.lua’ files. My question is exactly how do I copy these new ‘init.lua’ files by PeterP into the ‘DCSWorld\Mods\aircrafts\A-10C \Cockpit\Scripts\’section and overwrite the original ‘init.lua’ files? I made a copy of one of PeterP’s ‘init.lua’ files and tried to drag it over the original ‘init.lua’ file in the ‘DCSWorld\Mods\aircrafts\A-10C \Cockpit\Scripts\’ ) section but this just copied it into the same folder without removing the original. Does the fact that I changed the name to keep track of which is which create a problem? I also tried to copy the one by PeterP and paste it over the original ‘init.lua’ file but this still did not remove the original also. How do I go about properly overwriting these ‘init.lua’ files with the new ones? Do I do what I have already done and just delete the original ‘init.lua’ file? What do I do now? I am not very experienced at all with this type of thing so any help is very much appreciated. I have attached a file showing the folders that I am trying to overwrite to and from and also the page from the guide that I am working on, which might help to explain what I am getting at. 16. Hi, I am trying to set up the A10C Helios profile by CapLoz on a Viewsonic TD2420 touchscreen and have run into a problem which I really would appreciate some help with. I have been following the guide by DerekM and have managed to get the gauges such as the altimeter etc working in the sim but when I press on my touchscreen (the MFCD buttons for example) it is not being recognised by the DCS A10C sim as a press on those buttons. When touching on a MFCD OSB button on the touchscreen, for example, it does not register as a click on that button in the sim. All that happens is that I see a cursor corresponding to the general area I am pressing on the touchscreen on my main TV that I am using as a primary monitor. I see no cursor on my touchscreen. This cursor is a very long way from the OSB buttons for example that I am pressing and moves left when I move my finger left etc. I have been able to change some toggle switches using the touchscreen but only by moving that cursor on my TV over the switch and then lifting my finger up and pressing the touchscreen in that position, which is a long way from the relevant switch on my touchscreen. It is so far that I don't believe it could be just my touchscreen being inaccurate. I obviously want to be able to use the touchscreen properly in flying this sim so can anyone please tell me what to do to get this Helios profile to properly recognise my touches on my touchscreen so that when I press on a switch or push a button on my touchscreen it will flip that switch or push that button in the sim and not just act like a second mouse on my main TV. I tried running Helios Control Center as administrator but this did not fix this. This is my first time working with Helios and I really would appreciate any help. I looked around the Helios Profile Editor but could not find a way to change this. Thanks, OZTRIPWIRE Specs- Intel Core i7-4770 CPU @3.40GHz LGA 1150, 8GB Corsair DDR3 1600MHz RAM, 64 bit operating system, Leadtek GTX 660TI PCI-E 2GB 192-bit DDR5 graphics card, Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3 4xDDR3 motherboard. 17. Hi, I am working on setting up CapLoz’s Helios profile for the A10C, following the guide by DerekM, and really would appreciate some help on one of the final steps. I have attached the documents from the relevant parts of his guide to this post. The part I need a bit of help with is found in the bottom three paragraphs of the first document in my attachment. It covers the altering of the ViewportHandling.lua file by adding code from the corresponding file by PeterP, in Notepad++. He says that future versions of DCS World could change this process that he has explained in those three paragraphs. Has any update since the writing of his guide (in May 2014)altered what I need to do here or do I follow these steps as DerekM has outlined in those paragraphs that I mentioned above? In other words do I copy the additional code from Figure 58 into Figure 57 (both of these are in the attached document)as he has outlined or do I need to do this step differently? I appreciate any help, OZTRIPWIRE attached document for forum post on copying data from PeterP's file to defualt file.pdf
  18. Hi Flagrum, That answers my questions well. Thanks for the quick reply. OZTRIPWIRE
  19. Hi, Just a few questions about the Open Beta for DCS World 1.2.12 and the Bf109 K4. My understanding from what I have read is that in open beta form this update will not automatically come up on the auto updater when I open DCS but is separate (so far it hasn't come up on my auto updater). Is this correct? Taking this into account and as I only want to use the ‘non-beta’ (if beta versions require a separate set-up process than ones that are automatically set up in the auto updater) DCS World versions can I download and install the Bf109 K4 module without setting up the Open Beta for DCS World 1.2.12? Am I right in thinking that I need to have the 1.2.12 version of DCS World to download/install/fly the K4? I am eager to fly the Bf109 but don’t want to have to manually set up an open beta version of DCS World (if my understanding of how they work is correct) to fly it. Could anyone please clarify this for me? I appreciate any help, OZTRIPWIRE
  20. Hi, Sorry for the long post. I have bought a Viewsonic TD2420 touchscreen monitor to use in DCS and have run into a problem setting it up to use in Helios, using Cap Loz' profile. I was following the basic guide to Helios by Sim Deck on Youtube and then had to transfer over to the guide on the ED Forums by DerekM as the guide by Sim Deck (although very good) did not work properly for what I was trying to do. I installed Helios and, following the guides, managed to get the image of Cap loz’ profile onto the screen as shown in the guide by DerekM on page 21 in Draft A (running without DCS World and still needing to interface with it) and I think I did up to then ok but when I get to the part where I have to find the export.lua file that was generated when I setup the DCS A10C as an interface in Helios it is not in the same folder as his was. I don’t know if that is because he got his from Steam and my DCS A10C module is from DCS directly but when I look in the DCS World/Config folder there is no ‘Export’ folder like the one that he had, and there is no export.lua file there. However there is already an export.lua file in the section I am meant to paste this newly generated lua file into, (Saved Games\DCS\Scripts) along with a export.lua.back file in the DCS\Scripts folder that I am meant to paste the newly generated export.lua file into anyway. I did not copy and paste these files into the Scripts folder, they were already there. My question is, ‘is this good to leave as is and to continue setting up my monitor with viewports for MFDs etc? I did look using the search function on the Start button for ‘export.lua’ (after adding the DCS A10C as an interface in Helios) and all I could find was that ‘export.lua’ file in Saved Games\DCS\Scripts so I am thinking that that is the one generated when I setup the A10C as an interface in Helios. I am not sure though. So is leaving this as it is fine and I just skip the section of the guide by DerekM where he copied the export.lua file generated by setting up the A10C in Helios into the DCS\Scripts folder from the DCS World\config section and continue from there or is that going to be a problem? I had better add that when I start the Helios A10C profile in the Helios Control Center and fly the A10C in DCS the gauges etc do not move. I set the install path as E:\DCS World (my DCS World is on E drive, obviously) when setting up the DCS A10C as an interface in Helios. I did do the setup of DCS A10C as an interface in Helios earlier than in the guide by DerekM because that was in Sim Deck’s guide, could that be the problem? Thanks for putting up with my questions as this is the first time I have done anything like this and it is a lot more complicated than I read that it would be, and thanks very much for any help. 21. Hi, I have been playing some DCS single player missions and campaign missions in a number of different aircraft (I fly most) and would like to find someone to fly some online co-op with. To start with I am looking to fly with just one other player if possible. I have no experience of playing DCS sims online, live in Australia and really want to play online on a Saturday afternoon/night or Sunday afternoon/night and most of the time on weeknights as well (AEST time zone). Like I said I like to fly most DCS aircraft and want to fly with someone who doesn’t mind if I make a mistake every now and then as they are still a work in progress. I fly casually and am looking to fly with someone who also flies casually. I have TeamSpeak 3 on my PC also. If anyone is interested in playing some online co-op with me I would appreciate it if you could get into contact with me via PM or on the general forums. Thanks, OZTRIPWIRE
  22. Thanks WinterH and mjeh, got more options now Hi WinterH and mjeh, Thanks, I made a new loadout and right-clicked the hardpoint and have the option to carry the smaller bombs too now. I suppose that there is no way to carry bombs on the wing stations of the FW190 D9? OZTRIPWIRE
  23. Hi, This post is not in relation to the recent update but is a problem which I have had since when I first bought the FW190 D9 module. When I go to the Mission Editor to set up a dive-bombing practice mission in the FW190 D9 I can only seem to select the large SC-500 bombs and not the several smaller ones or rockets. I have read other posts about other A-G weapons than the SC500 bombs being available for other people in the Dora so is there anything I can do about this? Or am I just missing something that could provide me options for other weapons? I made sure I had CAS and Ground Attack selected in the ME for the aircraft but all I can choose for payload is the large SC-500 bombs. I tried to alter any settings I could think of with no luck. 24. Still have no campaign progress after update 1.2.10.32275.524 Hi, Just wanted to say that I have downloaded the update 1.2.10.32275.524 and thought it would restore my campaign progress but it did not. All the campaigns I had progress in are still showing as 'Inactive' and are at the first mission still. Was I mistaken in believing that this update would restore my campaign progress to where it was before the problem update? Thanks, OZTRIPWIRE
  25. Lost all campaign progress in all modules Hi, Just wanted to say that all my campaign progress in all modules has been erased since the last update :(. I have seen Sabre-TLA's post on getting it back through the logbook but just wanted to ask if there is any chance it will be restored without me doing that? I appreciate any help :helpsmilie:. Thanks, ozTRipwiRE
