  1. Thanks for the input! Hi everyone, Thanks very much for the input on using a TV screen to play PC flight sim games. I appreciate it! :) ozTRipwiRE
  2. Hi everyone. I am thinking of using my large screen Digital LCD TV (around 2 years old) as a monitor to play flight sim games through my PC but am not sure if it would deteriorate the graphics at all. Would it do so? The PC is also about 2 years old. I am also planning to buy a more higher end PC to play flight sims on and plan to run it through my TV but would that provide the same picture quality as running on a good PC monitor? Any help would really be appreciated. :) ozTRipwiRE
  3. Thanks for that information! Hi, Thanks very much for that information Griffin and Erforce, it is much appreciated. I did check that the wheelbrakes were utilised by the 'W' key on my system and they were. I was playing on Sim mode and I did make sure that I did not have too much forward trim on cyclic. Don't know what happened there. Least now I know that the missions don't automatically conclude when mission goals are completed so thanks for that. :) ozTRipwiRE
  4. Hi, I have been trying to finish the 'Battle' mission in Black Shark and have run into some problems. I attacked the enemy vehicles until the game said that the mission was 100% complete. I then requested permission to land with the tower. The tower said that I had permission to land on designated runway but did not state what that runway was. I then landed on what looked like the main runway. I seemed to do that okay but could not come to a complete stop even though I pressed 'W' (and held it down) to use the wheelbrakes. Coming to the end of the runway I took off again and landed on the other section of the runway to the right of the main runway (coming from the battlefield). Once again I could not properly stop so I shut off the engine to stop the aircraft. This did not finish the mission. This might sound like a stupid question but could anybody tell me what I need to do to finish this mission? I would appreciate it if anyone could help me out. Thanks in advance, ozTRipwiRE
  5. Still having problems properly starting Su25 Frogfoot in Flaming Cliffs 3 Hi, Thanks very much for your quick replies with my previous query. I pressed RSHIFT+L before starting the engines and that did turn on the electrical systems and I could properly read the RPM, for example. However, I have run straight into another problem. After turning on the electrical system (and the nav lights) I pressed RALT+HOME to start the left engine (I made sure that the throttles were on idle first). At first this was okay but after getting to about 43% RPM the corresponding light on the caution lights panel went off and the RPM needle stopped and went back a little way and stopped on about 38% RPM. I could not move this with the throttle on my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro stick (not a HOTAS) at all either. The same happened with the second engine. I did try to shut off the engines and start them again but the same thing happened. I was unable to move the aircraft forwards at all as well even though I pressed 'W' several times to try to turn off the wheelbrakes in case they were on (the plane did slightly move forwards on occasion but not under my control). Could anyone please tell me what I am doing wrong and how to amend this? Once again any help is much appreciated. Thanks very much, ozTRipwiRE
  6. Hi, I have a question about starting the Su-25 Frogfoot in Flaming Cliffs 3. I went through the relevant tutorials including the relevant parts of the 'Su-25 Frogfoot Study' on 'Introduction and Navigation' and the 'Taxi and take-off' parts of the 'Flight School' training tutorials. The 'Taxi and Take-off' part of the 'Flight School' training tutorials begins by telling us to set throttles to idle and then to start the first engine and then to monitor the instruments and so on. In the tutorial that told me this it was a different aircraft (a Mig 29) than the Frogfoot but that was the only tutorial I could see for this topic for Flaming Cliffs 3. I then loaded up the mission called 'FC3- Su-25- Tskhinvali Interdiction.miz' from under the ''Mission' section to put the tutorial to use in-game but when I started the engines of the Frogfoot in this mission the RPM indicators for example did not move at all even though the engines sounded as though they were starting up. I also noticed that the Mechanical Devices Indicator did not even show the landing gear as down as it did from the very beginning of the tutorial I mentioned in the Mig-29 (in the 'Taxi and Take-off tutorial). Can anyone please tell me what to do to properly start up the Frogfoot in this mission? Have I missed something? Any help is very much appreciated!! :) Thanks, ozTRipwiRE
  7. Thanks :) Thanks for that klem. I found that arrow. I appreciate your help. ozTRipwiRE
  8. Hi, I loaded up DCS World to check if it was running okay and it gave me the option to auto-update. I had to go out straight away so I reluctantly declined hoping to do it as soon as I got back. When I opened it up later the option did not come up a second time. Can anyone please tell me what I can do to download DCS World 1.2.4 now I have done this? I did go to the DCS site to download it (as well as clicking the link on this forum which also came up with 'This page can't be displayed') and managed to download the first file of the update but when I try to download the second file the screen comes up saying 'This page can't be displayed'. Can anyone please tell me what I am doing wrong? Has anyone else had this problem? I also downloaded the pre-purchase beta for DCS Huey before trying to download the 1.2.4 update which by the way told me I need the 1.2.4 update to install. Don't know if that is relevant. Any help with this would really be appreciated. Thanks
  9. Hi, I am looking around for a new flight stick and maybe some rudder pedals and I have a few questions about input for games such as DCS Warthog, DCS Black Shark, Flaming Cliffs 3 and similar games. I suppose that they would support multiple controllers so that I can use a Thrustmaster Warthog flight stick with CH Pro USB pedals, for example. Is this correct? Also, regarding the Thrustmaster Warthog stick I heard that it has no twist-stick rudder movement and that, without pedals, rudder is controlled by some sort of movement of something on the throttle panel. Is that the case? If so does that function okay? I do play helicopter flight sims. Would that type of rudder input work okay for flight sims including those chopper sims? I am looking into maybe buying some CH Pro USB rudder pedals and have seen some on the ‘PC Aviator’ site, but I don’t know anything about them. Has anybody bought from them and had a good or bad experience? Any feedback would really be appreciated. :helpsmilie: Thanks, ozTRipwiRE
  10. Hi, I live in Australia and am waiting for Flaming Cliffs 3 to be released. Just wondering if anybody knows if it will be released in Australia on CD? Just thought I had better check. If not then does anybody have any tips to properly download this game from the DCS site as I am not extremely technically minded (I realise that it is still in pre-release beta stage)? I have read through the general guide on downloading games on the DCS site but thought maybe others could help me with the process. Not too technical though please! I suppose that nobody has any ideas on around when the full update will be released? Any help with this would be very much appreciated. ozTRipwiRE
  11. Hi, Could anyone please tell me whether the Black Shark 2 update will overwrite/delete my original Black Shark campaign/missions etc? I ask this as I read that it featured a new campaign. :helpsmilie: ozTRipwiRE
  12. Hi, I am interested in buying a Thrustmaster Warthog. I have read through a lot of the forum posts about the flight stick. I noticed some negative comments about it. Could anyone who has had a bad experience with this stick tell me what went wrong and what they had to do to fix the problems, if they could actually fix them, especially if their specs are similar to mine. My specs are: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, Intel® Core i5-2400 CPU @ 3.10GHz, 6GB of system memory, AMD RADEON HD 6450 graphics card, Hitachi HDS721010CLA332 Hard Drive with lots of space, AMD High Definition Audio Device and IDT High Definition Audio CODEC Device. I am not extremely technically minded so nothing too technical please! I realise that some people have had problems and have already discussed them online but any additional feedback from anyone would be appreciated. By the way I would be using it with no rudder pedals as I can't afford both at the moment. :( Thanks in advance
  13. Thanks EB Thanks very much for that link EB. I will check it out.
  14. Hi everyone, Just wondering if anybody knows of the in-game tutorials in the Black Shark game being available in written form? If so would they be in the manual that we can buy or would they be available elsewhere? Just that I don't want to spend hours typing up the content in the tutorials if someone else has already done it for me! Thanks
  15. Thanks for that information, guys. I made sure I had the laser on properly and I got my first few kills! Thanks very much!
  16. Hi everyone, I am very inexperienced with the DCS Black Shark sim but so far like it a lot. I have gone through the tutorials for targeting ground targets but so far have not been able to take out my first one. I am playing the old version of Black Shark (not Black Shark 2) which I installed from a CD and I have been trying to target ground vehicles in the ''Battle'' mission in Single Player with no success. I have been following my notes from the tutorials on the Black Shark's weapon systems closely but can't seem to get ''TA NA' onto the HUD when I am trying to take out a tank. I got TA onto the HUD and the central TV but that is all. When I pressed the fire button on my keyboard (RALT+Space) the missile did not hit the tank I was trying to target but hit elsewhere. I made sure that the Master Arm was on, that I pressed 'Y' to set the Outside-Inside hard point select switch to Outside as it said to in the tutorial and the PUI display showed the selected weapon and remaining missiles etc. The 'Ground Moving Target' button was on as was 'Automatic Turn to Target'. I pressed 'H' to bring up the helmet mounted sight then held 'O' to bring up the 'Processing Complete' two concentric circles and cross in the vicinity of the tanks. I then put the 'box' on the central TV screen over a tank and changed the size of the box to fit the tank properly. I held down 'Enter' (Auto Lock) while keeping the tank in the box and then released 'Enter'. This is now where the problem is. The tutorial says that then 'TA' should appear on the central TV and that 'TA NA' should appear on the HUD. 'TA' appears on the central TV screen but only 'TA' appears on the HUD instead of 'TA NA'. When I try to fire a missile it does not fire at the tank but elsewhere. If someone could please tell me what I am doing wrong it would really be appreciated. Thanks very much in advance.
