I too asked Thrustmaster to see if there were any news about the issue. I got the same response as everyone else. I too wonder if they are communicating with Microsoft via smoke signals. On the other hand, if you read the reply from TM close it sounds a bit like they do not even talked to MS, but that they are waiting for MS to respond with what they "did" with the 8.1 update. Since I never read somewhere with problems with other USB devices, it looks tome like TM is a bit alone with their Cougar MFDs here. I really hope this can get fixed finally.

I´m also looking forward to an updated Version. It works for me currently, because I installed it before DCS got updated. But at some point (Win 8.1 Update or OS reinstall) I will face the same problem. And EMC is really a very very helpful tool.

@PoleCat: True, this can only be a workaround but not the final solution. But does it work for you everytime or is it more a hit & miss workaround? I don´t want to kill my MFDs by turning them off / on constantly by the OS. The last set of MFDs I had lasted only 2 hours and then I had to wait for 2 months to get new ones. So I´m a bit cautious here. @WreckingCrew: The 8.1 Update has not been pulled completely. It´s only the RT version which they pulled back.
-
Oops, I was tempted to press the Update button a minute ago. I think I´ll wait a little bit. Searching for Cougar MFDs and Windows 8.1 this really seems to be a problem. I hope Thrustmaster comes up with new drivers quickly. Do you also have the TM Warthog or Saitek Pedals? I wonder if these are working on 8.1.

"Windows" button on the keyboard? But... I don't have one...
buedi replied to guitarxe's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
As another one said here: Just remap that Win key if you want to keep your keyboard. I don´t have Windows Keys on any of my Keyboards too. Maybe because I always used quality Keyboards which last forever. My Cherry G3000 I use in the Office is well over 15 years old now. Same for the Acer with Alps switches at home on one of the PCs and the IBM Model Ms and Fs (XT and AT) I´m using occasionally. Hint: Despite buying (sometimes overpriced) 3rd Party Keyboards using Cherry switches, you can still buy original Cherry G3000s (with Windows Keys) or newer Model Ms (from Unicomp) just in case you think you need a new Keyboard. I bought a G3000 for my wife a few years ago and apart from the additional (Win) Keys and a different colour layout (the old ones had 2 shades of grey, depending on the Key) it feels the same as my 15+ years old one I´m using daily in the office. If you´re afraid of dirt / germs building up over time, good quality keyboards can be disassembled very easily and cleaned from time to time. And now, I don´t mean the Dishwasher. I disassemble mine and wash the plastic parts and key caps in soap water and undust the electronics. They´re like new again afterwards. If you´re a programmer though with a proper training and part of your job is to smash Keyboards, I would tend to buy a very cheap keyboard. It will just shatter into pieces when you throw it against something or someone. With a Model M or a G3000 you will smash Windows, Heads or whatever else is around in the office, which could harm your reputation a bit. -

Oh yes, that would be really, really useful. I hope it gets implemented.

I can confirm that it works for me again now

That module manager seems to be pretty buggy. Whenever I start it it "offers" me another module for download, like I payed it. Also the same modules have "Install" instead of "Buy" besides them. With this erratical behaviour, after starting / exiting the Module manager several times I was at least able to install CA and the Mi-8. Besides the Login problem, the module manager seems to have serious problems to show properly which modules you own and which not.
-
I have the same problem today. I can login fine on the DCS Website and on Multiplayer with the same credentials, but not in the Module Manager anymore. It worked fine a few days ago when I added the Huey. But now I purchased CA and the Mi-8 and I can´t add them. Yes, I can still download them separately, but I don´t understand why the Module Manager claims that I´m using a wrong Username or Password :(

how not to get shot down / intermediate steps
buedi replied to Geezuz's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
And Trees still won´t cover us, right? You can fly through them and the AI can look through them. Or did this change? -
I throw in another one (in my signature below). It has a lot of 3-way switch usage. Even if you don´t use the LUAs, maybe they can help you figuring out how to script the 3-way switches in the LUA files by hand.

At least you had a good laugh (I can laugh about myself, so it´s OK by the way) :smilewink: And thanks for mentioning that the tool still works. That might help others at least... for me it was too late :music_whistling:

I can confirm that. It still works. I don´t know what icemaker meant, maybe the Installation of the Tool itself which is not working because of some Registry Keys changed? I cannot believe that I spent so many hours yesterday configuring everything by hand. On the other hand I now know what´s going on behind the scenes and I´m even more grateful that EMC exists

I had the same feeling in my last flight a few minutes ago. I felt really dumb because I did not recieve the ILS signal. So I landed without it and when I shut down my Aircraft (and turned off the ILS), I heard the Morse code from the ILS station. But I need to verify this in a 2nd flight too now.

Can someone help me strategize what to purchase?
buedi replied to Cavemanhead's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
In my opinion, if you have the BlaskShark (that is 2?) and the A-10 and you´ve never flown both of them, I´m quite sure that you will spend enough time with those 2 modules until the next (2nd next) sale comes up. This is not the first sale they are doing. If you think you might not be playing at all again for a few months, or are busy with the BS or A-10, then I don´t see a reason to buy them now, just to have them. It´s all IMHO and don´t hit me if, for some odd reason, this really was the last sale :P Edit: I´ve seen that you have BS1. Then the sale could be a good opportunity to get either the BS2 Upgrade or just buy the BS2 license, so you don´t have to install BS1 everytime you want to install the BS2 module after you´ve rebuild your PC or so. But the A-10 alone can keep you busy for months. I bought it back on November if I remember correctly, and I´m far away from knowing everything, let alone mastering all the systems when it gets hectic in combat. -
Wait... you say it works? I´ve just read the last post from icemaker who says that it doesn´t. To not break anything, I did not touch EMC yesterday and fiddled around with the LUA files for 4 hours or so. Dammit.. :music_whistling:

I installed the latest DCS Update today and after that my exported Screens did not work anymore (of course). Since EMC is currently not running, I tried to figure out what EMC is doing. My Monitor Config LUA was still there, so I just had to do the background stuff EMC does. Thanks to the good file structure within the EMC folder, I was able to find out where I need to put some LUA files and now my exported Monitors work again. The only problem I have right now: Within EMC there was an option to disable the SHKVAL and MFCDs in the Cockpit when you export them. This saves quite some frames on my system. The problem now is: I cannot find out in which of the LUA files I need to change something to not have DCS render these screens twice. I ask this question here, because I´m using the LUA files from EMC now and I hope to get help. Maybe it´s just a single value I need to change, but I cannot find it :-( I also want to add something: Thank you very much for this great tool. After fiddling around for hours now to get everything back up running and seeing what changes you made to some of the LUA files, my mind is blown. Not only did you write a fantastic GUI to easily place and resize the exported screens, but also you changed quite a lot in the default LUA files. That´s quite impressive!

Hmm, I did not fly the P-51D for a while. But if I remember correctly, when a Switch on the Ramp is out of synch in my profile, when I flip it once it gets in sync. What I mean: Warthog Switch is up. P-51 Switch in Cockpit is up. I flip the Warthog switch down, then the P-51 Cockpit Switch stays down. So Switches are in sync again after I flipped them once. At least this is what I remember from using my profile. You could have a look at my profile. I created On and Off events in the LUA and also the 3-ways switches are working. Maybe you can copy & paste something from my profile if it helps.

Thank you very much. The Pictures I searched for stopped at around the hand rest, so I could not see it. And after reading the manual I should have fired up DCS on my own first and tried to slew left / right to see the backside of the Stick in the Sim too, then i should have seen hat

Hi everyone, I´m reading through the A-10C manual (in the A-10 "docs" folder). I´m on page 449 at Figure 337 "SAS and anti-skid Switch". It reads: Does somebody know what is meant with the "paddle switch on the control stick"? Although the Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog has a paddle on the front of the stick, there´s no paddle modeled in the A-10C and so I think that a real A-10C does not have a paddle on the stick either. Is the manual describing a function here which is not existing in the real Aircraft or do they mean another "paddle"?

Hmm... can I interprete the "silence" that it is: a) Working for anybody else b) nobody cares if it works or not? :music_whistling:

Please see Post#183 too for further explanation. It´s not EMC. It´s DCS and EMC just does not allow you to create a LUA which will crash DCS (which is good I think) :D
