  1. Testing for best speeds for the Mustang, I have never been able to prove the Meredith effects occurs, other than to get better speed by reducing the drag from the coolant radiator door by operating it manually while keeping the engine cool enough to run for a good while. From what I have read, it is supposed to be just enough thrust to overcome the initial drag from the radiator to begin with, so we are not talking about anything earth shattering, just a few MPH on the top end, and that I have seen. Meredith effect thrust or reduced drag??? In this case, seems like the same thing.
  2. Good to hear, the Mustang is a really fun a/c to fly and would be a shame to miss out on it!
  3. TF 51, in sim mode does utilize trim just fine. Now if you are referring to the fact that he may be setting up the wrong a/c in the control settings, that is a possibility as they are separate. The thing is though, he said he tried manipulating it directly, activating it with the mouse in the cockpit view, it does sound weird. Game mode would be my 1st suspicion as well, but would think trim works there too, have never used game mode so not sure. May test some things later.
  4. Would be a nice feature, but as in all things, make it optional from both the server and client points of view.
  5. Well, it applies the amount of brake set, makes logical sense and I dont think they felt they needed to go into that kind of detail. Also glad you got it sorted out!
  6. Not really, it is set PER brake, that is why you have to push both brakes to set it, not just one. And you release the PB by using that brake, so, you have to activate each one to fully release it. EDIT: From the Manual: Figure 62: Parking Brake To engage the parking brake, pull the parking brake handle out, depress the brake pedals, release the brake pedals, and then release the parking brake handle. To release the parking brake, simply depress the pedals. Notice, it says Pedals, plural...
  7. I performed this test 10 times, each time shutting down the mission completely to get a fresh start. My a/c does not move in any of the tests. Also tested, with the parking brake set, it IS possible to release the PB on one side by activating that brake without it affecting the other brake, and the parking brake handle is still pulled out. Works that way for either side, thus causing a turn in the appropriate direction.
  8. Have you found anyone else experiencing the same issue yet?
  9. Thank you for checking, that eliminates that as a possible issue. How do you release the parking brake? I use my toe brakes which releases the parking brake.
  10. Some like their rides with more curves, others prefer a leaner look. Personally I prefer the H better except I like the angle of the scoop of the D more. I am sure the squared off scoop increases performance though.
  11. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Because with only 2000 rpm, the a/c should not move at all with brakes properly set. EDIT: Also, about the brakes, not saying it is a setting, but that it may possibly be an issue with your brakes. If they are older, have a short, they could be activating when they are not supposed to. Shorting conditions can come and go randomly untill is is bad enough and the component fails altogether. It is something worth checking, but either you are just not telling me or refuse to do a simple check of your equipment. Failing to do this, you may be chasing a bug that does not exist. That your a/c is turning instead of nosing over it linked directly to a brake issue not holding the a/c in place, especially at those power settings.
  12. It is worth testing, as the oil cooler door drag is pretty insignificant compared to the gain.
  13. Just to answer the question, have you checked your brakes via the Axis Tune while both still and under rudder deflection to make sure they are working properly? Standard troubleshooting dictates eliminate the easy, common things first. You might be experiencing a spike on the left brake when you move the rudder, or the brake is not actually getting to 100 percent. Other things to test is what happens if you reverse the wind direction or no wind at all?
  14. Tried the same test on Causcaus map, similar winds (copied from your mission - A/C was at heading 220 with 14 knot winds at 128 ) with either hot or cold start. A/C is reacting as expected in regards to trim and or rudder input. My a/c does not move at all other than a slight nudge forward that would only equate to only a few inches before stopping and with enough throttle, will dump it on its nose, no matter the trim and or rudder input in either direction, hot or cold start. This leads me to believe that it is a brake issue that you are having that is allowing it to turn at all rather than just twist in place due to the forces applied. Even with the Parking brake set, if there is fluctuation in the brake axis, that releases the parking brake on that wheel. Maybe it is this that is happening?
  15. Indeed something very strange is going on, I am unable to even SEE those missions from DCS. I have opened them up externally and all seems fine with the format, double checked folder locations, but my Beta version does not want to acknowledge that they exist. What version is that mission from? (Though still should not be an issue, have opened plenty of missions from age old versions. Have never seen this happen before. EDIT: Just found out why, you made the mission on the Normandy map right? I do not have that. Does the same thing happen on the Caucaus map?
  16. Regarding your controls, it depends. If you do the beta as a seperate install, yes, though you can copy over your controls from the release/stable version with minimal impact (Sometimes there are changes). If you just use the available commands to change your release version to beta or vice versa, then no, because its using the same files. Link on how to update to various versions: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114030
  17. ok, with brakes set, right rudder trim, full left rudder and advance the throttle, I can see the a/c start to twist to the left correctly as it is bringing up the tail. With full right trim and no rudder input, the tail starts to deflect properly and a barely discernable twist to the right, but the tail come up and no turn is made under either circumstance. With this information, its my guess that you are not getting full brake on the left, allowing the a/c to turn under power.
  18. Ah, didnt set the brakes, missed that part. But why would that be an issue, it is working correctly when the a/c is moving. Will test again with brakes on anyways just to see.
  19. Hmm, just did the test and it worked as expected. Watched it externally. Full right rudder trim, full left rudder, advanced the throttle and the mustang turned to the left as expected. Then, from a stop again, full right rudder trim, 0 rudder input, advanced the throttle and could see the airflow move the rudder from the trim deflection and end up turning to the right minimally as expected. You are definitely experiencing something different. Check to see if a brake is dragging or something?
  20. The problem is that it is forcing all of these people to be beta testers on their servers. But, that seems to be the choice of the majority these days. They would rather have the newest rather then what is most reliable (And yes, sometimes Beta is more stable, that is a good thing and will generally get moved to release version when that is established, the way the process was intended to begin with). This unfortunately leaves out the people who are not interested in beta testing or to new people who have no idea what is going on and where the action is.
  21. A few years ago, there was only 1 version to deal with. There would be a patch and many things would sometimes be broken. There was a cry from many to have access to a version to help test releases, to which ED finally did, thus the beta version was made available openly. More people provided feedback as intended, more things got fixed and when Beta was working better it got moved to the release (coined as "stable" by many) version and things worked fairly well in this manner. More and more people soon realised that BETA got all the GOOD stuff early and more started to migrate to BETA before the worse bugs were worked out by the volunteer testers (Remember, this is what you are on Beta, a tester!!!). As such, the majority of online servers are now using beta with many screaming we do not need the RELEASE version, which puts us back to were we were a few years ago. Luckily, what is different from a few years ago is that ED has made it fairly simple to switch versions. BUT this does take time and there are a good number of people who do not want to for a variety of reasons. The thing is, at least there is a choice, and choice is good!
  22. This is the same for the Mustang, which has been an issue since the start. Those little things are just not animated to other clients. I too, wish they were, for all aircraft, but won't hold my breath on the issue.
  23. WEP in the Mustang is VERY usable below 5000 ft. Myself and several others here participate in online racing with the mustang and there is a significant advantage to using WEP no matter the altitude. If you do not use it, you will not win a race. The same could be used in combat if you need to catch or run from an opponent.
  24. If it takes me longer than 10 seconds to start the Mustang, I have done something wrong. Quick start checklist: Batteries on Generator on Fuel shutoff on Fuel booster on Starter (while starter is cranking) Magnetos to both (while starter is cranking) Prime until fire Mixture to run when fires Complete the rest of the checklists....
  25. ^^^^ This, It does not matter whether the true start time is on the ground or at a certain point in the air. If multiple flights from different locations, you make the adjustments for them all.
