  1. Okok...yes, stupid, park at the right position and you are fine :music_whistling: Sorry, for posting :smilewink:
  2. Hi Folks, after some time away from DCS, I got back and found that promising campaign. But I guess I forgot lots of things - or got stupid during the time :pilotfly:: How can I finish the mission? First time the navigation was...hmmm..sub-optimal ...to be frank I got more or less lost, but finally found my way "home" to Maykop. The mission did not count, which seems to be ok. Second time I triggered all WPs - at least I always got messages to turn, passed the final villages, contacted Maykop and even switched back to 126, said goodby, back to 125, got eventually "ready to land" by the mates and touched down nicely on the runway (that even surprised me), taxied to a parking position and shutdowned the heli. But that did not count either...and I wonder why?
  3. same here. Anything new on this toppic? The original post is now 10months old!! (The lua patch might help....but to be frank: This is payed content and I expect it to work. Yes, bugs happen - but they need to get fixed)
  4. I wonder why you dont simply look into your keybindings? There you not only find everything - you can even change it...
  5. And one more opinion :-) :smartass: If you really want to get into DCS the A10-C is simply perfect. Some guys say it is most challenging - I would NOT sign that! Yes, it is VERY complex and you CAN spend weeks, month, years to learn every detail, BUT you DONT NEED to learn everything at once. The big advantage: This thing is easy to fly, it has all "components" which are more or less common to all jets (engine, APU, CDU) - so knowing this stuff from here you'll learn the other jets much easier. The only REAL challenge in the beginning is the start up and the overview, where to find what. But there are lots of checklists to get through - and this you should train until you can startup this thing blindly. This also gets you in touch with most systems. Then try to (roughly) understand each step what is happening there - what is the battery doing, the inverter, the apu, the generator(s), CDU, Radio(s), external/internal lights.... Next: Taxi, Start, Flying straight, flying curves, landing. ..and finally dig into the complex systems, learn advanced flying (navigation, landing with crosswind, during fog or night, with damage, flying in "ant's knee height" through canyons, air refuelling, weapon deployment, countermeasures) Finally: Have a look at the mapleflag missions. They could support your learning quite well

    Air refueling

OMG how stupid  Thanks

    Air refueling

After failing in a MP-session to hold a connect longer than...hmm...1/10s I tried it yesterday in an own solo-mission (DCS1.5). Well, I'm not very experienced with the ME (nor air refuelling). Anyway: I took a S-3 (?) heading east and placed my m2k some miles behind it. I gave the both 280kn initial speen in the ME - or at least I thought so. Now: Whem I approach the tanker to get to the precontact I was too fast. Surprisingly the tanker's speed was around 180kn and I had some problems to fly such slow. 1st question: How can I set the speed in the ME higher? 180kn seems much too slow, right? After I finally managed to get into the precontact position and told the tanker so - he accellerated...I think to 240kn - or something around this. btw: this behaviour I've seen in my first try in a MP-session in DCS-2, too. 2nd-4th question: * what speed SHOULD be hold during air refuelling? (by the S-3) * why did he accellerate after precontact? * what would be the correct configurtaion in ME for the tanker? Finally: For me a very small axis-curve worked better (0-4). For the A10c I had something around 20-25 and I used that for the m2k, too, but the m2k reacts quite differently on stick input. With 0-4 I managed 10-20s contacts at once.
  8. Or use a calculator and a clock: D / (GS [knots] * 1.15) = t [h] D: Distance, GS: Groundspeed
  9. Well, you are right - to some degree. But the "new guys" argument gets smaller and smaller - for them trainers like the L39 or the Hawk would be better: easy enough but a good degree of simulation depth. I would prefer to see the FC3 planes get more realistic instead of reducing realism from really good simulated planes. ("crappy" was too harsh - sorry for that)
  10. Thats an argument to rework the crappy FC3 planes, not to strip down the M2000! At one server (buddyspike?) they even forced a complete refuel after spawning FC3 planes to hold them at least a short period longer at the ground. I personally hope that there will be some more fighters in the future which are more realistic in a way that MP makes more sense. Does anybody know how long a SU27 or F15 in reality needs for allignment? Although I will hate, waiting 8 Minutes - for me DCS is mainly a simulation and should be "as realistic as possible". Btw: there were a similar discussion about the Mig21 regarding the Gear-Lever...
  11. I faced the same problem - at least in this mission. We are circling each other quite close and the lock tone appears only in very high G-turns. By watching the tracks in TacView I saw that if the lock tone appears I'm by far to close to my opponent - so regardless of the G - the missile wouldn't hit anyway. So I tried different maneuvers to get some more distance - but now I never got a lock tone. At some point I simply shot as it "looked right"...and got my kill. The relevant things were: * be within missile range * pointing slightly ahead of his nose * be more or less behind him - just enough for the missile to "see" the exhaust It helps to watch your fight in TacView and measure the distances to get a feeling when shooting is successful.
  12. Ok, #1 and #2 I found in the manual. Sorry!
  13. Ok - just tried it out. one L39C directly before me - same heading. My missile even hits from slighly over 6km distance (for testing purposes he does no evasive maneauvers), only I have to place the pipper exactly on my opponent. But I do not get a lock sound. The lock tone changes on 950m distance. I dont know if this is correct..just wondering because 950m seems to be very close.
  14. Uups - I meant EGT, not EEG in #1 Thanks for the info. Will try to look at #4 again
  15. Hi, I just discovered some (minor) things and wonder if these are bugs or features: 1. [RTFM] The EGT gauge seems not to work in the back seat [EGT Fwd/Back Switch] 2. [RTFM] The parking brake lever is not synchron between front and back [Rear is master lever] 3. [REPORTED] Kneeboard: I can't flip to the "next page" - "previous page" works fine. 4. The missile doent lock (or at least the tone does not change) although the enemy is within range (i.e. 1.4km) - if I put the pipper slightly before his nose and shoot at this distance, the missile immediatly follows him and most of the time hits. The lock tone appears only in very close (too close) situations where it is impossible to shoot i.e. 400m, too much g... Any comments? regards, Karsten
  16. Well, just tried today. After dancing with my opponent... turning and turning and turning ... (repeat this for ...20 Minutes!) I finally got a lock. BUT I could nearly see the white in the eyes of the other pilot. Not to say I had too much g's. Anyway I forced this situation several times, forced a lower g to shoot, but the missile went straight ahead... Watching this on tacview showed: the lock-tone appears only in very close situation...500/600m, if not even closer. In the documentation I found this sentence: "when target visible size is 3-2 times smaller than the rangefinding circle, launch missile" When doing this there is no lock tone - but you can shoot anyway....and HIT! I tried it several times and it worked quite well (but not always) - the enemy is then about 1.4km away. So: If the opponent is running from you, you have the pipper before his nose and his plane is relatively small: Shoot! Maybe the (too) late lock tone is a bug?
  17. F-15? Not of interest here...:P
  18. Strange, or? Btw: You are getting out of your cockpit to look after your tires? Very interesting! It is half of the fun with landing after catching some shrapnel to wait for the awful scratching on the runway... :pilotfly:
  20. Well - sure! ;) What I wanted to say is that in this ideal training area the CCIP was much more precise than I thought/experienced before - at least under my (easy!) training conditions - only trucks, no hostile fire, no wind, low release point ...
  21. I faced the same problems some time ago and inspired by this thread read the links above and tried it yesterday - awesome! Loaded as many Mk82 as possible, placed a line of 40 trucks in a row and...with exception of one run ALWAYS destroyed at least one truck. :gun_sniper: Seems to be ONLY a matter of how to roll-in - I suspect that CCIP is precise enough to use only one bomb instead of two as suggested somewhere. Thanks for this thread - learned some more details (and will try some variantions, soon) :joystick:
  22. Thanks for sharing! I've read about the possibility before - but just registered it and never used it. Frankly: I switch it on as soon I'm need to wait for something - the CDU alignment or latest during cruising to the target - I rarely run into the situation that the mavs are not ready when needed. So - is there a reason why I should not switch it on even before Taxiing?
  23. Well, it was a level flight, so vertical speed does not matter (forgot to mention) The external view shows knots for me - so m/s is not the reason. Wind: Oh Yes - I didnt notice any wind in either direction, but ok...thats seems to be the reason. How stupid not to think about wind!? Anyway: I checked it in a quick ME and there the external view showed some knots above the gauge (at 3000ft) - as expected (level flight, no wind).
  24. I wonder if I generally misunderstood something: According to the manual the Airspeed Indicator shows the airspeed in IAS. Yesterday I switched to the external view (F2): There the speed was about 10% lesser than shown on the gauge. I'm not sure what is displayed there - IAS, TAS, GS...but shouldn't that value be greater (or at least equal) instead of lesser?
