Absolutely loft profile against a manouvering target with the Aim-7M would lead to a lower pk than an proportional shot. It would not not be used against a target that was at a significantly lower altitude than the launch aircraft any way and the first thing a manouvering aircraft at the same altitude will perform is a dive to a beam aspect. The chance of the missile hitting a gimbal limit or losing the tail reference signal is increased with a loft profile. If the reference signal is lost it will not guide against lower target.

No it dived straight after launch, not in the terminal phase.

The aim-7m does have a loft profile option in real life. Having said that I think pretty much all of the combat shots have used the proportional navigation option. If you read descriptions of the engagements they all talk about the missile heading straight towards the target, in fact in some instance because the missile head down towards the deck the pilot thought it had malfunctioned and fired another weapon only to see the first guide and hit. I think the loft option would be reserved for long range shots against non manouvering targets such bombers.
  4. I think most Japanese tanks are universally regarded as rubbish when compared with allied tanks, to be fair they were only ever design with infantry support in mind.
  5. The Chi-To looks like a semi decent tank.
  6. All joking aside it we be nice to have an approach where the main adversaries are released at the same time, Like ospreys Duel series of books
  7. ouch I think I just got burned
  8. The one that doesn't break down reversing out the car park?:)
  9. Its a ying and yang thing, Would want a panther, but its pointless without a T34/Sherman to shoot at.
  10. Slightly off topic, but does anyone know if you will be able to enter a waypoint manually while in flight into the INS?
  11. And some cars you can drive, you`ll never take me alive copper!!
  12. I used to fly Fw190 almost exclusively when I flew Oleg Maddox sims and my advice would be the following: Keeping sight, if you are using energy tactic this can be more of a problem than if you are using an angles fight. You will tend to have a greater distance between you any your target at some points in the fight compared with the angles fight, there will probably be a difference in altitude, invariably you will be looking over your shoulder, down on a target that is lower than you trying to pick it out of the ground textures.. The constraints of the viewing system of the sim will make it almost impossible to keep a constant track of the enemy. I think the most important thing to do is not keep track of the target, but to keep a visualisation of what the target is doing in relation to its background, be that the ground or the sky (clouds , sun). It is very easy to concentrate on the target and not what it is doing in the environment, when you then lose sight it makes it all the harder to scan the right area to pick it up again. As regarding if you should be using energy or angles (Turn fight tactics) it is not as simple as saying the FW190 is an energy fighter, therefore never enter the turn. At the moment we have a limit aircraft set, but when we get more aircraft, I would never consider fighting angles with a Spit, but I definitely would with a p-47. The tactics you use should be appropriate for the opponent you face, not the perceive strength or weakness of your own aircraft.
  13. The vortex rings state is not an inherent property of the design, that I will agree, but the fact that the side by side rotor layout means that it can enter the state asymmetrically is, with the associated risk of entering an unrecoverable attitude from it. And although you can say that getting into it is pilot error, and procedures are in place to avoid it, when the aircraft is close to these conditions it is possible to enter an asymmetric state through roll or yaw commands. From the Global security website: "Such a situation can easily be envisioned in flight conditions that place a high workload demand on the pilots; e.g., night or low visibility, system malfunctions, hostile fire, etc., should a breakdown of crew coordination or loss of situational awareness occur. Thus, the first indication the pilot may receive that he has encountered this difficulty is when the aircraft initiates an uncommanded, uncontrollable roll. "
  14. Even the most ardent supporter of the V-22 would have to admit that the design has some inherent design flaws ( huge roll inertia, vortex ring state problems) and some engineering problems ( the maintenance on them is a nightmare). Having said that I don`t think that is a reason not to have it in the game.
  15. I would love to see player control long range Sams in the future. I think that would add a lot to multi player game play.
  16. We don`t appreciate what we have until its gone, we used to have 3 in the town where I live, all gone now.
  17. Its true, Work, family... there`s never enough time.
  18. 7rooper Thanks for the reply. What is model making like in Colombia? Do you have any decent model shops, here in the UK more and more of our local shops have closed and gone online which is a shame. I would have to travel into London these days to find a good one.
  19. Its the academy Kit, its pretty good and has a nice fit mostly. It has a couple of down sides, the forward fuselage is a separate piece and needs a bit of sanding to get a good fit with the rear, and front canopy piece has the top part of the cockpit moulding which doesn`t fit great. The eduard Mig is a much better kit. http://www.eduard.com/store/Eduard/MiG-21PF-1-48-1-2.html?cur=1&force_sid=e957617ef3cfcbd0a435e761b2894b1f&listtype=search&searchparam=mig%2021 Quick tip what ever kit you buy make sure you put loads of lead shot in the nose, Model Mig 21 are notorious tails sitters, because of the length fuselage behind the main wheels.
  20. Thanks for the replies , all very kind, I have hopefully sorted the picts out now so that they actually appear and are not too big.
  21. Thanks for the comments. It took about 4 weekends to complete.
