  1. So... this LAN connection still works even though it does not specify it on the GUI. I was able to direct connect in my LAN and still have outside users connect to the server. If that works then there is no reason why a VPN connection would not still work. You just might have to manually enter your VPN ip into the network.cfg for it to take. Good luck :)
  2. Like I said before once I get this other installation done I'll post the results. I have an outside router too on a different ip range that I "might" try. That would require me moving my computer to another physical location and my machine is heavy :) I do recall having issues when I had Hamachi installed on my computer where the default LAN connection was picking up as the Hamachi 5.xxx.xxx.xxx address. I wonder if when they dropped the feature, his cfg didn't get locked up with the VPN address instead of his actual physical LAN address. If you can check that out and let us know what it says that would help. If it says anything other than 192.168.xxx.xxx then you probably have a problem. Unless you just run a seriously complicated network solution at your residence :)
  3. If you look at the network.cfg you can still see that there is an interface setting. It is the local ip. Has anyone tried changing that in the network.cfg to a neighboring LAN ip to see if you can get through?
  4. So... I'm going to test this at my house. The only way this would be functional is if the two machines are at the same location. I see that in the interface drop down the local ip has been removed. But I'm almost positive that if you still try and connect to the local ip on the same local network, it will connect. I'm installing DCS on my second machine now and it will have to update first but I'll let you know what I find.
  5. Dude. That is the strangest thing I've ever seen. If they have one with at least 7 buttons I might have to give it a go.
  6. Just a quick update on my flight injury. My wrist is doing much better now. Probably been a month ago when it got fully better. Still trying to fine tune my stick feedback sensitivity to release some of the tension on the wrist. I had my old stick mounted down in between my legs and was able to rest the weight of my arm on my lap. Ever since getting that G940 I didn't bother with mounting it low because the base was so large and I couldn't close my legs enough to use my pedals; but then I saw that people were getting a few extra inches of stick length by sliding the stick up the shaft to the second notch. So I'm going to try mounting it so I can fully enjoy flying again. Thanks again for the tips.
  7. As to not look like a total noob.... YEA, UAS is exactly what I was referring to... lol. Anyway I do have a realflight controller that I let my father borrow. I'll pick it up and see if it will work. A lot of the flight sims don't seem to pick up the radio as a windows controller though. Might require some coding... errrgghhh.
  8. So.... let me bring something up that I don't think I've seen mentioned on these forums yet. I'd like to know if anyone has thought about flying UAV's in DCS. But instead of flying them with a joystick, you would be flying them with something like this There are RC sims like PheonixRC that support this interface so what kind of barriers would we face in trying to get this working in DCS? Even though the radio is about $200, the guys that fly RC would really appreciate this.
  9. Agh… I was afraid someone would say to go longer than a week without flying. I just started reading Shaws combat tactics book and have been putting words into motion. Thanks for the info. Hopefully it's nothing long term.
  10. Thanks everyone. Yea my day job is IT and lots of miscellaneous work around our office. I use a screwdriver quite frequently as well. It's been painful to use hand tools this past week. I'll be making a stop by the doc this week then.
  11. Hey guys. I thought I would post a little something about some pain I have been experiencing for the past month. I started having some pain in the base of my thumb about a month ago. I didn't really think to much about it at the time. Thought I may have just hit it on something of pulled it a little some where. About 4 or five days later I started to have a dull pain in my fingers. When ever I would wake up in the morning my hand would feel fine but after about 30 min to an hour my thumb and fingers would have an achy feeling. Normally the fingers would be fine to handle object ls but putting excessive pressure on my thumb would really hurt. After pressure was relieved it was ok. My normal flying routine is usually at night between 10:30pm and 1:00am. Usually fixed wing (A-10 and F-15) but I think about a month ago I was playing a lot of Huey missions and that generally causes added tension on my hand when I fly. This past week I have been doing a lot more dogfighting and there is added fine tuned flying like in the Huey. The weird thing is that when I'm flying… my fingers don't hurt. Now last night I downloaded this new game on steam called war thunder and it is literally straight into the action… non stop. So I did like an hour of straight up dogfighting. I woke up this morning and the left side side of my wrist is really tight and achy. This is now a first. So… for starters I'm taking a week off from flying and probably going to wrap my hand in a bandage for most of it. Or as much as I can bare. So with all that information I just dumped on you… has anyone had any experience with these symptoms or similar? Thanks
  12. I think I would be ok with the ejected pilot creating an instant SAR mission. Maybe with the points system if that pilot is rescued it would subtract add bonus or something to your stats. Which is another thing I had been meaning to bring up… when will online kill and death statistics get recorded in the log book?
  13. Cool. Haven't seen this. Will have to try it out. Thanks for the input everyone.
  14. I know were getting into deeper water here but what if there were enemy trying to find you at the same time :) I come from playing a lot of FPS also. That would keep my interest in hanging around. I know it seems crazy but you could potentially add a very simple system for this. If you make the pilot like a tank... lol as in combined arms, you could seek shelter from tanks and ground forces that could also fire at you and you fire back. Pistol wise of course :)
  15. So... don't know if anyone has brought up this little wish but it seems like it could be done fairly quick as opposed to most requests. How difficult would it be to make an ejected pilot a live character in game, synced across multiplayer? That way if you got shot down and ejected, you could have your buddies jump in a Huey and come pick you up. I mean, the controls are already there because you can move your pilot around on the ground. Why not make that across all users? Switch the ejected pilot to an objective on ejection. It would be just like picking up NPC's with Huey. Seems possible to me.
  16. Yea. Defiantly the trackir is the most important part of experiencing this sim. But I used to use the X45. I really liked it. The HOTAS setup on it is really comfortable. If you catch a good auction you can probably grab a stick and throttle for around $30 or $40. You will want to pick up a rudder pedal set though. I got a set CH pro pedals off Craigslist for $30… yes, very lucky I know.
  17. Alright. I think I figured out the problem. I'm a little embarrassed to say it, but It seems I just needed a good ol fashion reboot :) I work in IT so I'm constantly telling people to reboot their PC. Seems I forgot to do mine. So… after 2 updates to dcs and an update to my trackir, it looks like its a good idea to have the PC reboot.
  18. So check this out. After sitting in the huey on the ground without making any inputs to the stick, it starts twitching. It did this twice in about 15 min. I thought it was really weird so I broke out the stop watch and did some lap times on the twitching issue. Turns out... the twitching is on a schedule. I hit the lap button recording the length of time between the twitching and it is 7 min and 22 seconds... religiously. Again, it only happens in DCS. I tried disabling my AVAST. I do run comodo firewall but I really don't think it's that.
  19. Are you accidentally adding your collective axis to the Ka-50 "Game" profile and not the Ka-50 "sim" profile. Or vise versa.
  20. I just got done flying MS FSX for a good 40 minutes with ff on and I never once had an issue with the ff. I am confused as to what the problem is. Is anyone else having these issues? Seems to have just started within the last few updates for DCS.
  21. Yea... no go on the warranty deal. I bought this stick on Craigslist. Everything looked to be in good physical shape to the best I could tell. I can't figure out the problem. I need to install another game to try it on because when I disable the in-game force feedback check box setting, I don't get the twitches. The stick has tension to it but like I said... no twitching.
  22. Oh snap… I just thought of something with this. So yes the sensor was covered up with electrical tape when this issue started happening. But now that I think about it, that was one of the reasons why I did tape it up. Because I kept releasing it and having to deal with the auto center feedback. I think with the quickness of the twitch that maybe the wires that are attached to the sensor might be broken. If I remember correctly, it only twitches during a turn where the wings start to buffet the air so the stick is shaking at its maximum. I'm going to open it up and check it out sometime this week. I was trying to recreate the issue with another game but I then realized that I don't play anything else anymore… lol. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good teardown thread for the g940.
  23. So... Don't know if it's just me or if it's an update issue but recently my G940 joystick has started to twitch during turns in multiple planes (F-15, SU-27, Huey, P-51). It's not the axis that are giving me problems but more like the motors. For example, I'm turning under a few G's and I can feel the stick is tight, but as I'm holding the stick in that position in the turn... it will suddenly and very quickly twitch (lose force feedback for like a quarter of a second and then snap back into the force for the turn). It may do this once or twice back to back very quickly during turns. It's not every single turn, but definitely 15% of the time I'm playing. It's quite annoying to say the least. Anyone else having these problems too? :joystick:
  24. So... I have a bad habit of poking things that are dead. Are we still a no go on this? Its been quite a while so maybe someone from ED has been tinkering with this. Any info would be great.
