might be a dumb question but did you take any damage to your flexible guns system? It seems any time I take fire the flexible sight system has some sort of failure.

Well even if you arent looking to join head on over to the forums and register, we would love to get to know you all! Plus you can get in on any missions from there. The huey and i have a love hate relationship right now, but things are improving :)

319th Virtual Attack Squadron Hoping to start a new squad from scratch, looking for shark pilots of limited to moderate experience if you would like to check it out hop on over to the forum which has been created at http://319vas.boards.net/ The squad is pretty casual, and since it has just begun there are no official flights as of yet. We welcome players of all modules but this is open to change as the squad grows. If you would like more information please feel free to shoot me a PM thanks! There are no monthly flight time requirements, and no training requirements though some training may eventually become part of the program. Looking for pilots of all interests and skill levels!

Yes there is a weapons system switch right next to your ejector seat arming switch, it may be hidden under the switch guard so double check that too, also ensure that your system generators are on and your throttle is in the correct position
-
The squad is based in the central time zone but we would be happy to have anyone fly with us! Once I get the squad up and running and we are hosting missions they will be announced on the forum
-
Well i am hoping to recruit pilots of all skill levels but the overall mood of the squad i hope to be pretty casual, no flight time requirements, no training requirements, and no "single squad" requirement. Right now the only "official" bird of the squad is the Shark, but simply because that is the only DCS aircraft I have any level of expertise in, that isnt to say others wont become "official" aircraft later on and included in any "official" missions with the squad. official meaning sponsored by the squad itself, any member can fly any airframe they wish but they just wont be supported in squad missions.

IIRC (im at work will check for sure later) the targets are all in open, I usually have labels on to help with targeting, but IRL these pilots simply have to use the good old eyeball to find targets and lock with shkvl, in DCS often resolution of screens makes this impossible hence labels.
-
yes this is normal, your PVI is set to "point" mode, if you want it to follow the lines you need to set it to "Track" mode IIRC
-
haha, no big deal, glad I could help! The Air to Air training range is almost complete now so stay tuned for that as well!
-
the auto start isnt necessary, but the mission starts from the ramp with a cold helicopter so you will need to ramp start then, i designed it so the player would ramp start, but auto starting is simply faster.
-
No the ramp start/auto start are not mission critical for triggers, all events are triggered during the flight

if anyone has downloaded and would like to comment on anything you would like to see different or liked for this mission please let me know.

Ka-50 Live Fire Range air to ground Name: Black Shark Live Fire air to ground Range Author: Maverick_ Mission type: Training Controllable: Ka-50 Quick Summary: -A scripted range which helps to brush up on weapons employment, auto and manual targeting, target identification and wingman commands. Link/Download: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/345629/ Full brief/Discussion thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=105734 Author/Misc info: This is a freeware mission and has no license associated with it, I created it to aid myself in targeting and thought it would be nice to offer it up to the community. Thanks for checking it out!

I have created an air to ground live fire range in order to practice manual and auto targeting modes, as well as brushing up on basic weapons employment. I have made the flight a player and one wingman so you could also practice datalink or wingman attack commands if you wish. The second group is a group of 2 SAMs, a SA-9 and SA-13, as well as a shikla AAA vehicle and a SA-18 MANPAD, in order to help with target identification when in a campaign. The flight does start from the ramp so you will either need to auto start or ramp start the helicopter. The link is below. an air to air range is in the works. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/345629/

the backspace key will work but resets your tgt system so any options you selected, for example ground moving tgt or turn on tgt will need to be repressed, if that isnt an issue that is fine for you though.
-
Thanks for all of the interest guys! I need to tweak a bit but will post this mission sometime this weekend, stay tuned

I was building a live fire range mission to help myself with datalink training and manual targeting modes, but wanted to know if the community would be interested in such a mission, would be good for novice targeting training and weapons systems training.

If you hold the lock button and slew while holding down you can lock new targets, if the shkval keeps slewing on its own you could always do a targeting reset, but for the most part holding down lock and moving onto a new target should do it for you.

facetrack is worth the time spent fidgiting with the curves if you take the time to really smooth the curves and add extra points etc it is well worth it. I have very small dead zones, about 5 points on all axis' but still dont have much extra movement, the only issue i have run into is the need for consistent even lighting, in the dark it becomes 100% unusable.

In Falcon BMS (Falcon 4.0), there is in game voice comms, and you simply need to connect to a server or direct IP in order for it to work, then it connects via the radio systems of the F-16, this would be much more difficult in DCS as the radios of the A-10, Ka-50, Su-25, etc are all different systems but I would prefer to see this type of system as it simplifies everything somewhat in stead of ts/tars etc

Anyone Figure Out How to Drop Bombs?
Maverick_ replied to ericinexile's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
the reason the ccip pipper is below is due to the geometry of bombing, even jets like the F-16 or A-10 need to pitch down quite a bit, usually around 30 degrees nose down, so you can imagine a Ka-50 traveling a pokey 150-200kts would need severe nose pitch down in order to see the proper impact point. This is due to the law of inertia, the faster you are the further forward your bombs will travel after release, and so the less nose down you need to see your pipper -
where are the good user created campaigns for BS2? Besides vergeev there doesnt seem to be many at all. I was thinking of creating my own BS2 campaign but wanted to see others for some inspiration.
