I think there's no other reason than it just hasn't been done yet.
-
I thought it was postponed from last week to this week.

And Ed Harris should be retired by now. At 68 he should no longer be in the Navy.
Normal retirement age is 64.
Even if POTUS himself had deferred his service, he would have to have retired at his 68th Birthday.

Well today is Open Beta Update day...

It's hilarious how spoiled we are at this stage :D
I remember when we were lucky to get one major module a year.

I started gliding this year (training in ASK-21) and just had my first three solo flights last weekend. Good fun.
Also quite inexpensive compared to powered flight, especially since we winch start.
-
That's not really true. I noticed around 25% improvement in VR.

It would be interesting to know why Soviets/Russia has not taken side stick in use...
Or most aircraft manufacturers for that matter. The vast majority of modern combat aircraft still have a center stick.
-
Nice to hear that work is ongoing on this...

Those not ready to spend 500 bucks might want to try this mod:
https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=245968
It works surprisingly well.
Only downside is the ridiculous shipping costs outside of the EU. I'd be happy to put in an order and distribute by mail, if I get up to about 10 interested people.

Thank you for sharing this!
i tried it yesterday but it dosen´t work for me. With the 64mm O-ring in, i can fully move the Stick but it dosen´t center anymore. So the stick stay in it´s position where i left it.
In this Video, you can see the O-Ring:
Is it that one you replased?
Yes, that's the o-ring. That's really strange that is doesn't work for you. You used exactly the part I suggested? It should push the gimbal down tightly, so that almost no movement is possible. It might be that the thickness of the part has changed since I ordered. What may help is to put certain amount of extra spacer under new thick o-ring. Also make sure the upper dome side of the gimbal is completely free of any lubrication.
Possible U.S. source?https://www.amazon.com/uxcell-Cylinder-Piston-Black-Rubber/dp/B008BXZ9X6
You'd need a part with 64mm outer diameter so I doubt it will fit properly.

Add a harness to your chair to restrict your movement. You shouldn't be able to lean out of the cockpit if you're strapped in as in RL.

This is such a bizarre aircraft. Overwing pylons, vertically mounted twin engines, ugly as hell.
It's strangely intriguing, but for non-Brits I think it's more of a curiosity than a legendary aircraft. I wouldn't mind seeing it in DCS, but I wouldn't say we "need" it.
The only thing we really "need" is modern eastern aircraft.

This is nice and all, but I'm far more interested in replica grips.
Can't wait for the VFX! :)

Is there still no custom cockpit livery option for the F-14???
OVGME is nice and all, but it's not integrity check friendly.
-
i dont think its a wrong choice but i would love the option between worn and clean ESPECIALLY if it means more fps!!!! im desperate for that lol
Textures at the same resolution won't really have an effect on fps.

Can we expect to see lowered performance with the increased draw and render distances, or have they somehow managed to do this with no impact?
-
-
What headset are you using?
If it's a Rift, I don't see any reason why you shouldn't have very good performance.
I use a Pimax 5k+ and am pretty satisfied with my performance, and it's like twice as taxing on the hardware.
Reading your description of the problems, it seems like something is wrong.
What do you have your graphics set to?
Are you using a higher pixel density?
Are you using some kind of supersampling in another application?
Have you deleted the metashaders and fxo folders?
Have you set "prefer maximum performance" in the NVidia settings?

I had an awesome hobby store just around the corner from my place where I often stood at the window to marvel at all the models.
I used to do plastic models as a kid and always told myself I should get back into when I have a little more time.
Unfortunately it closed down a few years ago :(

I always thought it IS more popular with the US crowd, because whenever I go online in the evenings (in Europe) there's like 5 players max.
Also, I always have to connect by IP. It almost never comes up in the list. Maybe this is a major factor?
It's a shame, because this is my favourite server.
-
Whenever I go online to fly a little bit of multiplayer I'm always a little dismayed at the fact that many of the fullest servers are those with red and blue having pretty much exactly the same aircraft, with Hornets fighting Hornets and Flankers fighting Flankers.
Why is this so popular???
I'd much rather see some more realistic scenarios with western vs eastern aircraft. However, most servers attempting to make the effort seem to be empty.

Aircraft models? (the plastic kind)

Thanks! It's the Eduard Mig-21bis "Around the world" kit in 1/48.
I got the pilot figure from PJ Productions.
I've bought the Italeri kit in fact, as it's supposed to be one of the better A-10C kits out there (Italeri isn't generally know for best accuracy generally).
Eduard makes a number of photo etched parts that gets the Italeri kit to an A-10C standard:
