  1. Is it possible somehow to just giveaway some of my keys to anyone? I don't want to sell them, as matter of fact i would like to giveaway to the first one, in the forum, who really enjoy flying one of those aircraft. I don't even care if it is ED to decide who is going to be. It is just that I don't see my self using those aircrafts in the future so i see no point having them unused for good when someone else might be enjoying them.
  2. No one? Really? I guess the answer is a negative one
  3. I don't know if this is the right section to ask about it but here we go. I saw a video of AIM-120 hitting targets at 30nm and i saw some updates notes about new aim-120 guidance. What i would like to understand is whether the final aim-120 capabilities has been fixed and brought to stable version or it is something limited to open beta (or some internal version)? I remember f-15 campaign mission where the target is a Russian AEW and to actually hit that thing you had to close up to really stupid distances. I mean a really big a slow moving target which could still kill your missile if not fired from a very close distance. I'm asking this because i don't have the guts to reinstall everything just to discover that maybe this has not changed yet in stable version. Thanks in advance
  4. can i just uninstall open beta without affecting (losing) any key activation? or there is a specific routine to do so? i'll be preserving the open alpha installation. I'm asking this because it is about more than 6 month that i don't touch dcs anymore and i want to clear a little bit and who knows maybe give dcs another shot. thanks in advance
  5. I just want to share that i've seen a huge frame drop after the last update (i was still on the beta number 3). Before that, i was experiencing unstable 60 fps (55-70), then today after the update it dropped to unstable 42 fps (40-50). I've tried all settings but i saw no change, not even a frame up or down. So when i was about to give up i deleted the DCS folder inside saved games and restarted the game (thus automatically recreating everything). Well after that, the game went to unstable 75 fps (70-110) and always 60 fps with v-sync on. NE
  6. Why? Just tell me why you keep speaking for others, in this case the whole programmer/developer community, if you don't even know what you talk about? Every single game are made of parts that exclusively rely on probability and statistics. An entire very famous simulator has been made PURELY on probability and statistics. Speaking of hardware components, there are companies that use researches based on probability and statistic to decide which way to go and sometime even the standard setups. So ridiculous...... You lack of humility (instead of listen/read and try to learn you just go ahead as a tank with your own idea, and you are not even capable to step back whey you are so damn wrong). Probably you are one of those naïve person that believe on whatever someone say just because of their credential, without even try to imagine that they might be lying just because they have some interest to protect. I hope you are not an engineer, and if so that you don't occupy any position that needs creative people to improve technology because you are so mind closed.
  7. So damn easy to solve, all you need is math and statistics. No one would stay away from a 17" as no one would stay so damn close to a 52". There are a lot of software (regardless their utility) that uses statistics approach with very good result (in overall).
  8. Asking for fixed zoom or a total removal (also for others features) is just a no no. Let's not forget that simulation also come from hardware, so setting freedom is a must to allow users to config the game for all sort of setups (as long as he is capable to play with lua).
  9. That's one way, but windows itself has an api called GetDeviceCaps that allow you to get that information....simple as that
  10. Another pearl of knowledge from SharpeXB based on his beliefs on nothing, there is indeed a way to know the screen size via software, a very stupid way that works perfectly...... Just because ED doesn't use it, doesn't mean that it can't be done.... Why keep talking about things that you just don't have any clue? Moreover using it as facts to support your vision?
  11. Surely you don't, you just don't understand but still come here to drop your facts based on stories that you tell to yourself in your head. I've noticed almost from my first flight on DCS, after a quick search (here in this forum) I found out about this behavior and realized that was something known, something that was related to models and graphics engine. As I wrote, just because ED did this way, it doesn't mean it is the best. It might also be old and among the worst (compared to modern techniques/algorithms) , it happens often in software development (specially when working on a very old game that uses the same old engines). Like you have done for that ww2 ARCADE game, you accept everything that support your idea as god truth and unique way and bash anything that goes against it with lies .....in my house we call this as worship
  12. hahahhahaha Things like this are one of the evil of the society/internet, just because they believe on something (sometime just because they read something on the internet without even understanding) they take it as a fact and come to forums, or wherever, to teach and drop "facts". There is no relationship between rendering and anything else, as a manner effect the render layer is totally above anything else (software architecture), which means that it might not even be implemented that still everything else works 100% the same way (like a dedicated server does). I will not even waste my time explaining who/how/why works like this, besides just because they did this way, it doesn't mean that it is the best or even among the better, that's why they have made from 0 a whole rendering engine because the way it worked previously 1.5 was just bad bad bad (just to avoid worse word) for an open world. Are you a programmer? Clearly not, so why drop facts about something so technical that you just don't know, don't have even a small clue. Your posts are full of this behavior
  13. Don't try to fix anything, you have selected a picture to show smart scaling defects of a game (really prone to arcade) from 1984....this speaks by itself.
  14. When someone is capable of comparing a modern 3d game to a 1988 2d vector game (that was actually released in 1984) just to support his idea, he automatically lose all the respect on the topic (at least for me). Let's remember that games (thus commercial products and not professional products) started to actually head to realism after 1997-98 with GP3, GP legends, FSX 98, Falcon 4.0, etc.. (although they were still pretty far from it and some were just about being hard rather than realistic). Comparing scaling technique results of a 2d vector game (that was not even close to be considered simulation, specially in times where nobody would have invested enough money to provide a commercial game simulation) to a full 3d game is just lame. Do you know what it does show? It shows that your experience in this is just limited and you talk just basing on your no experience beliefs. This is the same behavior that you has shown on another forum (about the campaign grinding of a ww2 game) and clearly does here (bashing the beta without being a tester).
  15. That's the funny part, he has no iteration since he has not signed for the BETA....
  16. I find very ludicrous people not even asking for improvement (that really needs a revamp) but for totally removal. One of the biggest misconception in gaming trying to replicate the reality (since consoles) is that most of time these games fall into the same bad habit where reality = hard. A curious thing is that some gamers really believe in this and even talk as if they are cooler for being able to do something that is harder than in real life (most of time without direct/indirect experience so just based on beliefs), in the sense of as they are capable of doing there, they are surely in the path to be an ace in real life too. This happen for all games, with different degrees, that simulate the real world (some was the top of the notch at their time, although today they are considered very arcade). There is another game who use smart scaling and i'll be damned not only it has a very noticeable user pool due to its age but also never created such a problem in the multiplayer (remembering that it is used for pvp), to be honest both side use smart scaling on with pleasure, smaller aircraft like mig 21 are still stealth killing machines. So as I already said, there are too many type of smart scaling technique, ED is trying this one in a BETA product, which is totally normal since this is a BETA. Complain because they are making test on a BETA is like asking them to not try anything new. I find funny to see that ED never stated that this technology is the final version and will remain as such for years.......but still there are people not even giving a negative feedback (which is normal for its current state) but simply whining over and over, without adding NOTHING constructive to help DEVS to take a decision. In conclusion, I've seen this scene too much time where some people ask for hardness to resemble reality where it actually leads to the opposite (even driving simulators has the same effect). I remember when I used to live at Udine, close to AVIANO, and a friend of mine who was an air force member saw that "other game" in my house, one of its first comment was about not only the smaller visibility (due to the uneven confront between real world and a monitor) but also the size proportion to the visible scene. Once I turned on smart scaling, he said that it was still not perfect but much better. I can't speak for others but my suggestions and opinions are base on my life experience as games player, game developer, developer of systems and in this case opinions that came direct from someone that works with real life scenario everyday. I myself never controlled any sort of flying thing but I have friends who does both as hobby and as job.
  17. Only if has passed two or three months since the feedback. By the way, it was you that a few months ago was saying about accepting the dev decisions (supporting your idea) and provide them enough time because the game might evolve to what the complainers was wanting and now you do the opposite....be more objective here....use your own words as advice to your own I don't intent to reply to you anymore, at least on this topic, since I already know how you are and I just made my point...there is no reason to keep insisting.
  18. Providing a feedback is like "objects are too large" and that ends there, repeating the same thing doesn't solve anything or add more feedback. Besides, you are not signed to beta why are you trying to provide a feedback for something that you didn't try just because you heard or saw something......so damn pointless
  19. You have already made your point for something that is still in BETA, why keep insisting on your idea each post? It is about giving a FEEDBACK not PROPAGANDA, like you are doing. You didn't even give an appropriate amount of time to dev works on any change. Each 5 post, one is your and this is not only unproductive but also annoying (already saw this behavior of your on another forum....the same of you pushing your idea to the folks over and over). If you don't have any addition (mathematic or scientific) to support your idea, why keep repeating the same useless thing? Moreover there is a very important thing to keep in mind while you rant about this.........THIS IS A DAMN BETA, the phase where dev tries different thing and receives FEEDBACKS (the only changes is that this is an open beta, instead of old closed beta). If you don't like temporary stuff or things that doesn't work properly stay away from the BETA....wait....you are not signed for the BETA but still complain about it......WHY ARE YOU STILL COMPLAINING? What you are doing/saying is "DEVS DON''T EVEN TRY SOMETHING THAT I DON'T LIKE, I DON'T CARE IF IT IS STILL A TEST PHASE I JUST DON'T WANT YOU TO GO AGAINST ANYTHING I WANT EVEN FOR A WHILE". This is so damn boring and annoying. PS: I suggest you to stay away from any topic about DCS 2.0 since that will be released as ALPHA (which is even more unstable and more testing contents).....
  20. There are, there are. It is just that some people are divided between the two SIMS and those who play with dcs but ignore current dcs multiplayer. In fact, there are new people jumping to the other simulator after they have been brought to flight combat world by DCS. It is just a matter of attract them all but there are a lot of work to do to archive that. We all know that until DCS does not simulate also the war environment and/or offer a modern multirole, there will be a considerable amount of players who will keep ignoring dcs or at least its the multiplayer PS: I didn't even considerate WW2 gamers pool.
  21. It depends. You are totally right if you are trying to compare the result of 1080P screenshot to a DSR downscaled to 1080P. However the result is not "misleading" if you are comparing true resolution generated textures. That said it is a known issue of ED engine that cause drawing issues for far/small objects (without AID). The higher the resolution, the lower the chance that its rendering is skipped. vicx examples seems to respect the true resolution for all screenshots, if so then we can clearly see the far/small object issue. There are two way to correct this, improve everything needed to match our eyes (resolution, zoom, etcc....) or compensate it by using smart scaling techniques (what has been done for years in professional simulators). Obviously the first one is the hardest because it requires the technology (which still don't exist when it a matter of eye fidelity) and money (people needs to open their wallet, so even if we have the tech if it is too expensive people will not buy it), until then smart scaling is the way to go and should be adapted to technology progression. One thing that it is important to note is that smart scaling itself is not a unique algorithm, there are many different techniques with different results. Just because you don't like how ED implemented it, it doesn't mean that all smart scaling will disappoint you. Moreover, it doesn't mean that ED will not change/tweak their smart scaling implementation.
  22. His solution could be VR/Resolution detection that filter out players in MP (current engine already does not allow resolution changes while in game). I guess you are afraid that it is easy to believe that more people would go rather with a VR solution than a 4K monitor, which will invalidate your expenses by providing less players to play with.
