  1. Been using Index in DCS for quite a while (pre-ordered Index) and I'm having this issue now for the first time. REALLY annoying. Noticed it first at the LSO plat. Not sure what ED did, but ya, this one has to stop like now.
  2. Ok Andre. I agree with you. I just wanted to make sure I didn't have anything configured incorrectly, since it was different from how it worked with the JetSeat. Do you have tutorials in the documentation on how to change those if I wanted to? Thanks for the quick reply, BTW.
  3. Hi everybody. I could not find the answer to this and figured I'd just ask since it's probably something small that I'm dong wrong anyway. Had a JetSeat for a while. In SSA, 0-100 intensity was pretty relative, meaning 100 was the same intensity no matter which effect I set it to. I recently decided to try out a bass shaker and I bought the Sound Module. Everything is working, technically. All the effects trigger the shaker, but I noticed, for instance, 100 set on the G-effect and Buffeting was MUCH stronger than 100 set on afterburner or Speedbrake shudders. In fact, at 100, I'd say AB or speedbrake shudders hit around G-Effect at 8 or maybe 10, relatively. At first, I thought perhaps those effects just passed a higher frequency and my LPF was cutting them out, but I opened all the software and hardware crossovers all the way and it didn't seem to make a difference. Testing in the viper. Any thoughts? Thanks for the help.
  4. Quick question: Is there anyway to "look up" in Combined Arms? I mean mainly to look up without looking through a scope of some sort. I want to be able to have a vehicle's POV and look up in the sky to find incoming aircraft. Right now, the only options I can find are to use an AAA or SAM vehicle and look up through some kind of targeting scope; to use the F7 view, which won't actually let me look up; or get inside the vehicle and through the humvee, for instance, I can't look up because the roof is there? Any ideas or something I might not have tried? Thanks,
  5. Thanks. I read through this. You're right, those are the steps. Unfortunately, they're some of a large number of steps I've tried for the better part of this last month. It's true, VR in DCS is relatively crap, but with the CV-1, I could run PD 1.5 and most of the graphics settings cranked up no problem. The same settings with the index turned the game into a slideshow. I systematically rolled back everything in every way, one by one, trying different combinations and the only halfway usable version I can reach with the index looks way worse than smooth settings in the Rift. My machine should be able to run the index decently in DCS and I'm reading here and other places about how people are running it well (with very similar specs to mine). That's what frustrating. Either they're all lying or I'm missing something. Pretty much hit a wall with testing. Not sure where to go next. Perhaps an I7-7700K and an overclocked 1080 aren't enough to make the index usable in DCS. If that's reality, it's information people reading this and making decisions from it should have.
  6. I have absolutely no idea where these reports of good or even moderate FPS are coming from. I've had my index for more than a month and have tried everything and it's just complete and total junk in DCS--absolutely unplayable. In other games, it's fine. Games built for VR, it's amazing. There is no screen door effect, the FOV is great, controllers are the best on Earth, but for DCS, it's a brick strapped to my face. Look at the specs in my signature. They aren't the best, but they're comparable to what others who are reporting FPS of at least 45 are using. The recommendation is to run at 118%, but I'm running 100% resolution globally and on the application. My DCS settings are pretty low too. DCS PD of 1.0. I am dropping frames left and right. Motion smoothing runs so often every line becomes bent if I try to move my head at all. CPU is not OC'd and running at 4.2Gz and 1080 is OC'd slightly through AB's auto scan. Temps are fine all around. I've tried SteamVR and SteamVR beta. Neither makes it better than the other. It's just so, so bad it's impossible to differentiate. This is a shot of the frame timing in SteamVR taxiing. Barely moving, facing forward and it's a sea of red and motion smoothing is more or less permanently on (I do not have it set to force on, but it is enabled): https://imgur.com/a/AzqJGcE DCS Settings: https://imgur.com/a/NauWwTP There's no point in having great resolution if you have to turn down your game settings so far everything that you actually can see looks like LEGOs.
  7. The State Military Hi everyone, Wanted to post a new opportunity for anyone looking to join a DCS milsim lite group. This is The State Military. The State is the beginning of a gaming community with multiple offerings, including a civil airline (SimBuddy via XP11, P3D or FSX), an open, moderated gaming lounge and of course, a DCS military group assembled to include multiple branches and by extension, squadrons. The State Military is designed to prioritize flexibility, making available several role-based opportunities, such as human JTAC, GCI, ATC and so on, to allow pilots to experience the same, dynamic battlefield in new ways on a mission-by-mission basis. We are 10 strong at this moment and all of us are experienced in DCS and in milsim groups. We have all participated in other wings and milsim groups in the past. With little tolerance for flashy egos, negativity, exclusion and the like, we place a high priority on positive attitudes and finding people who are a good fit in the group. Most of us are 30 or older, but we're open to making all kinds of new friends. We are well-organized and well-financed, running a custom website and a rock solid, 24/7 OVH server. Like most groups here, we provide the necessary training and will be patient with people who try hard and commit to a learning attitude. We are in open recruitment right now and the doors will close (training begins) Sept. 1. We are recruiting pilots for the F-18C, F-14B and the AV-8B. We will also take anyone who wishes to be dedicated to our ground operations (1st MRB). If any or all of this sounds fun or if you have any questions, please visit our website, join our Discord, PM me here or send an e-mail to me directly at info@statelyfe.com. www.statelyfe.com Discord Invite (Assembled quickly from some clips I had lying around from us warming up the past few weeks)
  8. Quick question: If I create a separate RIO helmet, where do I put it in the "HB_F14_LOD1_3in1" file? There is only one helmet square.
  9. I recently made the switch to VR. I've been able to accomplish almost everything I could with out it, except for getting any LSO mod to work in my headset. My understanding is it's possible and nobody else seems really to be having issues, so I'm guessing it's a simple fix, but I have yet to decipher it. Anyone have any steps handy or a tutorial I could walk through? Thanks!
  10. I would literally take any variant at this point. I'm excited for the F-16, but really, really excited for the Phantom. It's such an icon and flew so many places for so long and has so much history. You really can't pick incorrectly with the Phantom. I just hope whatever it is, it's on schedule and high-quality in early access.
  11. Excellent. Thank you for the replies. Can't wait to try it out. I'm so clumsy with those controllers though. Only had VR for a couple weeks. More important than ever not to rush a start-up, ha ha.
  12. Thanks. Looking forward to messing with this later. Seems it would take the same amount of time to grab a controller and it would to grab the mouse. To the best of your knowledge, can this be used in conjunction with a HOTAS or does it only work if you try to fly with the touch controllers? I haven't used controllers with DCS at all yet.
  13. "Pushes buttons" how? Like you can reach out and punch in stuff on the UFC or something else?
  14. I believe they're the same thing. You can click this with your mouse in the cockpit, there is a button mapping for it and there is a way to pre-program it in that same section where you pre-program the other profiles in the code. It just doesn't appear in the profile section in the jet. It's locked.
