  1. A few things. First, VAICOMPRO is installed in the VoiceAttack directory. For example on my rig it's at C:\Program Files (x86)\VoiceAttack\Apps\VAICOMPRO. Could be different for you, especially if you are using the Steam version of VoiceAttack. There is a doc folder within and that's where you can find the latest VAICOMPRO manual. There's also a link on the VAICOMPRO discord site. Second, the VAICOMPRO shortcut simply runs a background program that restarts VoiceAttack if it crashes. To start VAICOMPRO start VoiceAttack instead. Personally, I deleted that shortcut, which I find useless and misleading. Third, the messages about DCS world not found are easily corrected: Start VoiceAttack. Once VAICOMPRO is finished starting hit Left-Control-Alt-C to bring up the VAICOMPRO configuration widget. On the CONFIG tab check the box for "custom path" then enter the path to your DCS installation. Make sure the sliders are set for your version of DCS. Then check the box for "fix registry." Then close the widget, close VoiceAttack, and restart it. The problem should be gone. Finally, the community developers are providing tech support and updates on the Discord site. See
  2. Correct way to move Saved Games is to go into your Users folder (e.g. c:\users\yourname), then right click on the saved games folder, select "properties," and then use the "location" tab. If you copy/paste the current version back to the original location and then follow this method you should be good.
  3. Apparently still broken at the end of 2022. I've been trying to learn the MiG-19 using Chuck's guide and the training mission and they all give the wrong advice relative to the current behavior of the switch.
  4. @BIGNEWY Does ED have any suggestions as to which folders can be moved to slower drives for access using symbolic links that will have the least impact on performance? I'm sure that the easy answer is "aircraft or terrains you aren't using." But what about the rest? Some guidance would be welcome.
  5. Possibly related to the font you are using. I've never had a problem but can imagine some fonts might cause trouble if the font is not one of the Adobe originals and not embedded in the pdf file. You might check the pdf properties (hit control-D while viewing the pdf file in Adobe Reader) to see what font info is in the file.
  6. Yes. I unzipped the latest version and dragged the folder on top of the existing one. (With neither DCS nor VA running of course.) It replaced the DLL files and all has worked well since then. I did a "Finish" step for good measure but I'm not sure it was needed. Edit: By "on top of" I mean I dragged the unzipped VAICOMPRO folder into the VA apps folder so that it merged with the existing VAICOMPRO folder.
  7. I recall seeing a video where someone was able to park under the deck by hitchhiking a ride on the elevator along with an AI plane. The key is that the AI will start parking below deck once the deck parking is full. So if you happen to be there when the AI starts using the elevator and time things just right you can ride the elevator down along with an AI plane, and then taxi around the hangar deck. But there isn't much there at present so apart from the elevator ride it isn't very interesting or fun.
  8. My kneeboard is working just fine with no kneeboard.dll file present. There never was one previously, and I'm not sure why the absence of one now is relevant to anything.
  9. "Realistic" FOV depends on monitor size and the distance of the eyes from the screen. There is no one-size-fits-all angle, even if fixing it to be "realistic" were to become a thing. There is never going to be a totally level playing field for MP. Just think of the pros and cons of VR vs. 2D for example? Are VR people cheating? The flat-screen crowd?
  10. I second the thanks for the work on this, and the Christmas present of a new release. However the release notes include the following description of the new Hot Mic functionality, which I find to be very confusing. Perhaps some more clarification could be provided. Quoting from the release notes ... Hot Mic needs some explanation: The "Hot Mic" switch in VAICOMs Ex config page now triggers, if VAICOM gets in a permanent listening state, if you put the ICS switch to hot mic in the cockpit. If you leave VAICOMs hot mic disabled, ICS hot mic will allow you to talk to your fellow RIOs through SRS / voice chat, but it does not have any auto listening on VAICOM anymore. If you fly alone, tick it and the ICS hot mic switch will allow you to talk to Jester all the time using AIRIO, like if it was your human RIO.

    Kneeboards

The default kneeboards are map specific but not module specific. Do you not even have the airfield diagrams or local maps? Those are installed by default. Some modules add module-specific pages, but not all.
  12. That is correct. Could have sworn I had the ministick mapped as a pair of TDC slew axes previously. I certainly did not have it bound as pitch/roll. And I don't see any other TDC slew axis controls in the is module. I run mapping software that causes my ministick to output some virtual button presses when moved more than 1/2 way in each of the four directions. Possibly I was using that previously, binding those virtual buttons to the TDC up/down/right/left controls. However nothing appeared to be bound to those controls when I checked after experiencing the problem.
  13. I've been repeatedly trying to finish Mission 10 with a decent score, and so recently flew it both before and after the most recent OB update. After the update I'm finding that the timing of the voiceovers is off during the CAP flight from WP3 to WP4 and while holding at WP4. There are a lot of voiceovers in that section and several of them play before the previous one has finished. Of course with the captions I can still figure it out (plus I heard them all before the update), so not a big deal. Now to figure out how to find the helos while still at altitude. I have yet to find one on the radar, no matter what settings I use.
  14. Trying to fly the F-5 for the first time after 2.8 update I'm finding that the ministick axis on my CH throttle has been reset to pitch/roll rather than TDC control. Trying to rebind it for TDC slew I get a message "no command available for this device."
  15. Ejecting from some of the warbirds does what is requested, since "ejecting" in that case involves climbing out of the cockpit. But nothing similar for jets as far as I know.
  16. Exactly why it's nice to have a lot of options. You can't please everyone!
  17. Agree. I've been playing The Georgian War campaign a lot lately and I've noticed several times where the opposing AI just flies into a mountain for no good reason.
  18. One thought: The kneeboard code creates a "scripts" folder structure in the root of the c:\ drive. I don't know why it does this, and I consider it to be a bug. It occurs to me that if you are running VA under normal permissions rather than as an administrator then possibly there could be a permissions issue. I tested the kneeboard last night using the latest OB version of DCS and the community release version of VAICOM and it worked perfectly. Have you turned on debugging and looked at the vaicom log file (not the VA log file) to see if there are any relevant messages?
  19. I own almost everything. Let's see if I can remember the ones I haven't flown: The Mig-19, the Mig-21, the F-16, the Mi-8, the KA-50, the Gazelle, the Huey, the Hawk, the C-101, the Yak-52, Combined Arms, the Viggen, the NS430 Navigation system in all its variants, the various German warbirds, not to mention quite a few DLC campaigns. Quite a few others where I just have a few hours, including the L-39, Harrier, Christen Eagle, the Spitfire, the P-47. I don't regret any of those purchases, but it sure would be nice if ED rewarded loyalty somehow when new modules are released. I no longer purchase everything as soon as it comes out given the backlog I mentioned above, but I might if there were a loyalty discount. How about it @BIGNEWY? I'm sure I will get to everything once I retire LOL.
  20. On mission 7, running DCS openbeta 2.8, I've several times had the following experience: During startup of my F-15 there are infantry running all over the place, including through the sides of the bunker. Sometimes they run into my plane and knock it around and tip it over. I tried to attach a short track but it is larger than the 5MB limit on the forum, I guess because of all the action in the mission.
  21. Which has always been the way the kneeboard works. I'm not sure I understand the complaint. If the issue is that you want to see different tabs on the interactive kneeboard then you need to use the VAICOM functions that access those tabs. If you switch pages using the DCS commands (which is what I assume you mean by "scroll") then you have switched away from the VAICOM kneeboard page. The key to understanding this is that the use of the term "page" in the VAICOM kneeboard documentation really means "tab." There is only one VAICOM kneeboard "page" in the usual sense. But it has multiple tabs.
  22. Good idea to update the DCS registry entries as well if the path to DCS changes. Some apps look at these, although ironically DCS itself doesn't seem to use these. They are created when you use the default installer.
  23. Looking at this forum it seems this campaign hasn't gotten much love of late. I've been going through the first few missions to see if I can improve my dogfighting skills against the AI. I found the F-14A to be the most difficult opponent so far due to its incredible turning. However I'm finding I often can't get a kill on most of the others because they dive for the deck and break the hard deck whenever I get close to being on their six. This terminates the engagement. (I sometimes shoot them down anyhow, because, well why not?) I'm wondering if this behavior is due to the recent change in AI dogfighting performance. It's pretty frustrating that they don't respect the ROE.
  24. To perhaps state the obvious, ARIO has nothing to do with ATC communications or the Supercarrier, or the Hornet. Seems unlikely that your problems are related to ARIO.
  25. You realize you can do that already and have been able to do so for a long time. it's in the settings. Right?
