  1. Well...did you activate the IFF system in the A-10 correctly?

AFAIK if you mess it up, he won´t get a correct response.

    That's wrong afaik.

The IFF-system in the A-10C has no function. You can turn it ON/STBY/OFF, but it makes no difference. The game always assumes that it is working and answers to IFF interrogation by friendly fighters regardless.

I don't think there is any module for DCS so far where you have to activate your IFF-transponder to answer IFF-requests. It's handled by the game engine. It just checks the coalition of the aircraft and returns true or false if interrogated.

  2. Any updates for the Typhoon?

    Inviato dal mio LG-H815

    Yes:

Typhoon 3D model is being completed and systems are being worked on at the moment, specifically MHDD pages.

Due to the Hawk issues with some people experiencing EFM issues the Typhoon EFM has been pushed back in its schedule.

When I have the new art assets I'll post up some renders and screens from 3DMax and in-sim.

Right now we're using our tech dem version of Typhoon for development.

    Thanks,

    Chris.

  3. Uh, is it out-of-date already?

There have been lots (and I really mean lots) of big changes to the Mirage since that guide has been created ;)

The RAZBAM guys are working hard.

  4. Which ever chopper that can carry best anti-tank weapon(Hellfire). What other missile lets you choose flight parameters and weight only 100 pounds? There is a tank in the open? I'll choose high profile to hit top of armor. Tank hiding under a tree? I'll choose direct profile. Hiding under overhead with only little bit showing? Low profile - I choose you. Vehicle driving with high speed and weaving all over place? Yep - Hellfire can assist easily.

UHT Tiger with PARS 3 LR can do that too. ;)

It can also fire 4 missiles at 4 different targets simultaneously.

  5. I've just purchased a couple chopper modules and wanted to see if there were any threads that give info on multiplayer gameplay and where the helicopters come in. I havent found anything in my searches but I'm sure I'm just missing it as its likely a topic thats been covered before.

I've seen enough videos that show chopper pilots flying supplies to farps etc but I'm wondering is there a guide or anywhere I can go to find more info on how you load/unload equipent, and or any strategy guides about what type of troops to bring and how to best help your side in a match? up until this point I've just been flying air/air combat so its a side of the game I'm currently unfamiliar with and trying to get up to speed.

    cheers.

The videos you saw for supply flights might have been from the awesome Operation BlueFlag: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=167590

  6. hi and welcome,

    some remarks:

During taxi and take-off, i always drift either to the right or left and have to correct through the rudders. Is there something wrong in my setup?
    What aircraft?

Not at all conversant in the navigation lingo e.g. bogey bearing 123, angels etc. What does it all mean? Is there a comprehensive tutorial that I could either watch or read to get it to make sense to me?
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiservice_tactical_brevity_code

How important is trimming? Have never paid any attention to this and have been flying on default settings? How would trimming help and when and how to do it?

Depends on the aircraft. Trimming is very important for older aircraft that do not have fly by wire or other flight stability/augmentation systems (all WW2 aircraft, both korean war aircraft and the MiG-21) and all helicopters.

  7. is it possible to have 3rd party to make map modules instead of airplane modules?

It is. I think LNS is actually working on a map.

They're working on at least two maps, Iwo Jima beeing one of them.

VEAO is also working on some maps:

    [...]

    Map Areas

    Duxford (test development map)

    North Africa – Tubruq

    Mach Loop – Welsh Valleys

    Falkland Islands

  8. Yes Hawaii would be great.

How about another WW2 map with focus on eastern germany containing Berlin and Dresden? Or maybe shifted a little more over the polish border. Essentially it includes a few of the pivotal areas during the last days and weeks of WW2. And yes, all these cities fit into one single map about 400x300km

    picture.php?albumid=1193&pictureid=8146

I would prefer a Cold War version of this map -> DCS Fulda Gap (The city of Fulda is already visible in the lower left corner. The white line is going through the city name)

  9. Well the air-ground radar is on the way.

Its coming together with the F-18 (either late this year or early next year).

And on top of that: 3rd party devs are free to develop their own A-G radar, like Leatherneck Simulations is doing for their AJS-37 Viggen.

  10. With 3 studios showing interest and throwing little hints at some point in time, Tornado sure seem a popular thing among devs :).

I hope you're right. Im a bit afraid though, that all of the 3rd party devs think that someone is doing the Tornado already and leave it be, but in the end no one is doing it :music_whistling:

  11. I got mine yesterday, the slew really is shit. I don't use the mic so remapped it to there.

Is that really a warthog replica for slew? I worked with some User interface folk who would have slapped my supplier for suggesting that!

No idea what the pinky does, mapped that trigger thing in front of the laser to a modifier and considering uses for the left throttle button and the slew thing?!

It's odd at first, but you'll get used to it ;)

  12. Yes everything above is modeled. The indicated own position will drift (especially at height or when flying over sea or flat terrain, or upside down); gyroscopes will drift and the headings will need to be reset; everything has latencies modeled; and also all presentation aswell as ballistic calculations uses the proper simulated sources so you will have to for example make sure the altimeter is correct for your bombs to hit where you are aiming.

That's so awesome. Finally we get a DCS module that simulates this (maybe the Mirage too, soon)!

Just one more question: How do we update the "INS" to reset drift inflight in DCS? I think IRL there are different ways to do that (e.g. overflying a known location and hit "update", using the radar to recognize height maps, ...?).

    Aren´t Mavericks considered PGMs?

    I thought they were...

They are indeed! I thought about bombs when I said that :)

I am really looking forward to trying this plane in Blue Flag and some strike missions on enemy airfields :D

You're not the only one :D

  13. once again jojo, thanks for your explanations !

so a bullseye point is a virtual point from which I should search for my target by the bearing and range shown on lower left of VTB ? or VTB will be showing me bearing/range TO the bullseye point ?

I don't know how it is in the Mirage, but usally it's bearing/range from bullseye. As far as I know AWACS calls are usally given as bullsyeye calls. I think in DCS this is the case as well, if you ask for a picture. Bullseye location can also be set in the mission editor for both sides (red/blue).

  15. Ah I see. So it was a compromised but necessary choice. What advantages does it have, generally, as an attack aircraft in a mid-90's battlespace?

It's pretty outdated for a mid-90s battlespace to be honest. It's more of a Cold Warrior (70s/80s), where it would have performed very well in the strike role on land and sea.
