No, its not an issue with his mach meter. The IAS is actually mach 1.3 because hes at 52,700 feet! That is really high up. The calculator I use for mach doesn't go that high, but even if he was at 50,000 going the same speed he would still be breaking mach. Just look at the redline on the airpspeed indicator. After fiddling with some numbers it's showing that he should be going mach 1.1 instead of mach 1.3. I might be incorrectly using the calculator though.
