  1. I don't have any actual experience with these machines, only what I have read. Sounds like a good deal but I agree with Apache600. You should check to see if the software is included since I read that it alone costs $900. 13"x24" is a good amount of travel.
  2. I've been working on the Landing Gear Panel today. Everything is done except painting and labelling the panel. Also I need to make the lever, mechanism is done just not the bar and knob on the end of the lever. It will take a bit of thought to add the light to the handle. Painted the insides of all the instrument bezels and MacFevre, you are definitely correct in saying that it makes the screen look less inset. No video from today though as my camera didn't get on well with the 1 degree celsious temperature here :)
  3. Cheers MacFevre and yes I will be painting the insides black. It does look better in person, I just can't find a good way to photograph screens. If anyone has any tips then I'd love to hear them. Boltz
  4. These are a few pics of the pit's current progress. 28 inch monitor for the MIP now. Some instruments like the HSI need tweaking and the glareshield got a bit bashed which is why it is not straight. Another thing to fix. Boltz
  5. SAS Panel Part 2
  6. I haven't flown since we went up a few weeks ago so a bit out of it. Nice work with getting the Purple Heart! I have no idea what it is but sounds good :) I think I will need to go flying this weekend
  7. This is a video I made a month ago but had not uploaded till now. Enjoy :pilotfly:
  8. I have updated the website with previous downloads, some more links and other general items. Also added a Donate button. Any donations, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated. http://www.it-eam.co.uk/boltz/ The second part of the YT video is nearly finished. I'm just finishing the paint job today. Looking to release part 2 tomorrow. I will probably need a third part to cover the electronics since the current video is already quite long. Thanks, Boltz
  9. Wired up an old PSU for the cockpit. Connected to a small control box I built a while back with indicator LEDs and shut-off for power. Also Power On is connected in series to DPST battery switch. More software matrix testing and circuit design done. I need to get some Arduino Protoshields to make one matrix breakout board and the rest of the IO system. Magnetically held switches can now be implemented in A2DCS. Just need to finish wiring diagrams and get some confirmation on them. New version of A2DCS is still getting nearer. All coding is finished, now it is just on to writing the instructions and final testing (not fun tasks.) Made some bolts for panel standoffs out of threaded rod and blowtorch. Also begun soldering diodes for the SAS panel.
  10. Thanks guys. I will look into the donations thing. Started some wiring of an old PSU for the cockpit. I need to get some more switches to fill the panels and wire them all up. All switches will run through a matrix. I am finalising the wiring designs now. Boltz
  11. I'm terrible at keeping this thread updated. Since I last posted here I have changed the MIP to a 28" monitor, built the Cockpit CAVTR data storage unit, painted the pedal adjustment and auxiliary landing gear handles and started building a few panels and implementing the switches. In an attempt to post more of my work I have started filming some of what I do. You can see me in action here where I start making the SAS panel: I'm new to the world of YouTube so please excuse some of the camera angles and other problems. Now I have worked out how to do this, I will start making some more. It takes less time to have a camera rolling than to keep stopping to take stills so expect more of these. Please like, comment and subscribe for more. Let me know what you think and how I can improve. Thank you, Boltz
  12. This is all I have: http://www.hempstick.org/The_Official_Hempstick_Site/Knobs,_Buttons,_and_Lights.html http://www.ehcknobs.com/pdfs/catalog/MiltKnob%20p29%20sm.pdf http://www.ehcknobs.com/index.php?id=MI Don't know if you will find what you are looking for here. Boltz
  13. I think you really need to get those 14 monitors plugged in and DCS World installed first. I don't know much about servers but DCSW is one hungry beast when it comes to performance. My worry is that one PC will not be able to run 14 screens with a decent frame rate, since you will be renting to the police for training then this needs to be realistic and about a stable 60fps. What resolution will you be running each screen at? You said full HD earlier. That's 1920x1080 and 14 screens of it: 29,030,400 pixels. A 4k resolution screen has 8294400 pixels and rather than rendering a single viewport like you would with a 4k screen you are going to need to render 14 of them. All I can recommend now is that you get DCSW running on all screens with a separate viewport on each and take the Huey for a spin. Check your fps and decide if it is playable. This is the reason people tend to use projectors for a large setup rather than cladding the walls in screens. the resolution might be amazing but at huge expense in both PC hardware and game performance. 14. Nice flight gear! Welcome to the forum. Boltz
  15. Website for software is up and running at http://www.it-eam.co.uk/boltz Boltz
  16. Website is up and running at http://www.it-eam.co.uk/boltz As of now no files will be available here on the forum. Thank you to everyone who has supported the software! Boltz
  17. Nice poster MacFevre! I agree on the scale though. The MIP worked out to be a good fit but the panels are way oversized. I made the back plate of the panel 5.75" and had to guess on a couple of dimensions.
  18. I apologise for not posting anything earlier. I have been spending most of my free time working on the pit so not been doing much of the software. The new version with separate profile files is finished. I just need to test it now. Also working on a small website which will be hosted shortly for this project. I will have it done by the end of the weekend. Boltz
  19. Every switch panel is a paper template. The only ones not are the TMWH throttle, ADI, HSI, RWR, Airspeed Indicator, VVI, Altimeter, MFDs and EMI. To make the place holders I used the Solomon Computers graphic which can be found on google (5000x7000 pixels.) Each panel was printed, cut to size and laminated. I used double sided tape to stick them to 4mm plexiglass panels I had made a while ago to cover the sides. The Solomon Computers graphic is excellent because it has shadows and 3D effects all over which makes it all seem a bit washed out and used. I will use it as a template to build the rest of the pit. The only problem I have found is that all the panels are 8mm oversized in width. Hopefully they have the correct proportions so it is just a case of resizing them. While I decide what to do about the panels I am going to start at the back of the side consoles and make the data transfer panel. I will base it around a USB port/hub and space for an external HDD. 20. Forgot to say earlier that I had to modify Dimebug's side console plans to remove the par "cale inclinaison console." This was needed to set the side consoles at 0 degrees like in the real plane. I was re building the centre console so this modification was not a problem. I still need to do some more modifying of the side walls to allow for a strip of aluminium and the canopy disengage lever.
  21. Still a lot of work to do but I can finally see the construction work nearing the end. Then I will need a set of panels and some electronics :joystick: Boltz
  22. Thanks MacFevre I couldn't resist making a bunch of place holders for all the panels today and installing some more parts. Had to secure the pedestal and ended up screwing the side consoles and side walls to the floor to add some rigidity to the structure. I also ordered a 28 inch monitor to replace all the "fake" instruments on the MIP. I have had a glass cockpit MIP and a model one, now is the time for a compromise. Finally, I also started designing a website for A2DCS and the pit. Will post some pics later. Boltz
  23. New centre console built and MIP mounted. I used 2 M10 threaded rods to secure it to the new front bulkhead. I also set up the sound system again and built some speaker mounts. Also relocated the sub woofer into the seat for maximum effect! :pilotfly: Boltz
  24. Handles are from Deadman and I have to agree with Hans, the quality is outstanding. Boltz
  25. Thanks Deadman and the handles are excellent. Got the other installed today and some sanding of the pedestal done. Just need to paint the handles and get a micro switch for the mechanism. Boltz
