  1. B17 Mighty Eight allowed you to pick your own targets and plan your own flight path, time, munitions, etc... It is not limited to pre-designed missions as many "classic style games." The immersion in B17 Mighty Eight was very impressive. I particularly enjoyed the "leveling up" of crewmen, which gave more incentive to keep them alive and made them seem like real people rather than generic AI.
  2. You need a commercial flight simulator cockpit that moves to simulate the actual plane movement. The best ones even spin around completely in all axis so when you do a roll you are actually upside down.
  3. Flying the P-51D vs the AI, I find Fw-190s easier to shoot down. The AI Fw-190 seem more fragile than the AI P-51D that seem to soak up ammo. I am using the vs P-51D and vs Fw-190 missions that came with P-51D game. Don't know what difficulty those AI are, but it is probably on easy. I use the same tactic vs both P-51D and Fw-190. I use WEP most of the time and I just keep doing vertical loops until I somehow end up on the AI tail.
  4. Put DCS on SSD and you will notice an improvement. In the past when I had DCS on HDD, it would pause for a second before an explosion, after I put on SSD it is smooth. It also lowered my mission loading time from over 1min to less than 30sec. However, your old video card will still be a problem. Any hardware-brand-reliant thing such as AMD Mantle is never a good solution.
  5. In the future, always get a case with dust filters on the case fan intake vents and build for positive air pressure in the case. As a system builder, seller and maintainer, I won't even sell systems without dust filters on the case fan intake vents, esp since I live in the desert where summer can reach over 110F.
  6. Do you have any driver overrides on in AMD Catalyst? Is Windows doing something in the background like auto scheduled defrag? Is your computer overheating or your power unit is dying? No matter how great hardware you have, if they are overheated or underpowered they will perform crippled. Even if you don't notice a difference in Skyrim, you may notice it in other more demanding games like DCS, which in my experience is much more demanding than Skyrim.
  7. The context has not changed. This is an Eagle Dynamics forum about an Eagle Dynamics product; therefore, the context has always been as Sith stated. In general, alpha access is like access to company secrets. If someone wants access they should work for the company properly. It shouldn't be made public, unless it is some public-effort open-source software organization, which ED obviously is not.
  8. Alpha access is simply unwise, from a technical perspective, but also from an entertainment perspective. Why would you want to see a movie of all bloopers before watching the actual movie? It would ruin the experience.
  9. I would seriously support it. Any true aviation fan would.
  10. Don't feel bad. In IL2 I could land numerous aircraft with broken ailerons and broken engine repeatedly no problem. My first DCS aircraft was P-51D and it took me two weeks to land a perfectly functional plane and have it the same state by the time I came to a complete stop. I eventually found out I didn't flare enough pre-touchdown (you want to make it glide level a few feet above ground and let it descend down on it's own as it looses speed), and I was too harsh on the pedals post-touchdown (just tap them). I still can't land in crosswinds 75% of the time. Have you tried the A-10C yet? That is a piece of cake to fly vs the P-51D. Auto slip correction, and you can land a lot harder than you can with a P-51D.
  11. So you want them to map out Northern Europe but leave a big black chasm where Normandy is?
