  1. LNS, YOU CAN BE MY WINGMAN ANYTIME!!
  2. I'm playing the campaign and my wingman jettisons his weapons if someone even looks in his direction. After one run in he has zero weapons left because he/she freaks out and drops everything. Is there anyway to prevent this or help make my wingman more useful?? Thanks in advance!
  3. The collective stick was definitely changed. It was patch a while ago. Of course weight has a lot to do with it but 70-80% is correct.
  4. I am quite shocked about the reaction of this thread. A big shoutout to r/hoggit because I think a lot of traffic was derived from there. I really hope someone from the development team sees that over 90% of its users (from the sample size) think it is an important system to be implemented in the game. I wonder if we could get some kind of response from them about it.
  5. There was some seriously good information in this thread. I hope everyone checks it out. I have to convert that ref. sheet to Km though haha. Thanks everyone!
  6. As I play more and more with the Su-25T, I get more comfortable. I always used labels (small dots). I felt this way kind of cheating because they would go through my cockpit or cloud cover so I could see exactly when I was over a target. I felt this was unrealistic so I turned off labels and have been trying to cope. It is extremely difficult to spot anything with modern monitors. Objects are rarely more than a pixel if not extremely zoomed in. I feel scaling is very very necessary and I've heard others mention it as well. So let's bring it to some attention. How important is it to you for ED to implement scaling of ground and air units?? Thanks in advance!
  7. Gurby, the Encyclopedia... tells me none of the information I was asking. You should read it sometime. Excocet, Thank you very much for that list! Exactly what I was looking for. Jeez, that makes things much more difficult in the campaign since most or SAM-9 or SAM-13 sites. I was copying the SAMs I saw in the mission. Those were the SAM-9/13s. Obviously I can't pick up IR SAMs. That was one problem. The other problem was I wasn't making full emplacements with command posts. Strangely, the last thing I messed up was (this is very dumb...) expecting to see a signature if my HUD wasn't lined up. I keep forgetting this is a sim! A 360 degree HUD would be pretty cool though :P So if a Shilka has integrated radar, I should be able to spot it with the Phantasmagoria, no? Thanks everyone for the responses!
  8. Everyone, thanks so much for the feedback. Especially the insight on how things are scored. I know it's not a "game" but I want to go into a mission with something to accomplish. Points are pointless (hehe) but I still like to rack up the mission success score.
  9. Some basic questions ahead. What SAMs use radar? What SAMs use heat seeking missiles? I want to use my L-081 Fantasmagoria pod with anti-radiation missiles. I set up a few SAMs, about ten different types, and I don't get a radar signature from any of them. If there's no radar tower, these SAMs don't use radar maybe?? Also, with AAA like the Shilka, do they use radar? Can they be assisted by radar? Thanks so much in advance!
  10. Sorry for the simple question but I just started the SU-25T campaign and am on the first mission. I always get one of two missions. Either a recon mission or a CAS mission. The briefing always says to provide CAS. Doesn't mention anything about recon. The only reason I know is because I look at the mission planner. There it says "objective". Easy enough. But on CAS, it is very general. Sometimes "attack units marked with green smoke" or "provide CAS at WP6 or WP7." I can't see the smoke on my mission planner so I have no idea where or what to attack. Maybe I'm missing it but I couldn't find any type of marker. Am I doing something wrong?? I really don't want to do low level flying looking for green smoke with AAA and SAMs trying to blow me out of the sky. Also, what dictates results? Are there actually tagged units that contribute to mission results? I'm quite old thinking that there is a definite mission success and mission fail, but DCS does not seem to be like that. Thanks in advance for the help/opinions!
  11. I actually didn't mean the briefings, I meant the mission planner. I thought it was kind of cheating at first but I figure there short be intelligence before actually flying the mission so it's OK. Plus, there seems to be a lot of random spawning. Also, that bombing technique sounds very promising, I will have to try get good with that.
  12. This is very clearly a bug that should be reported (if it hasn't) because I can fire weapons no problem in any other situation other than these training missions. It was very frustrating before I just gave up firing the actual weapons and concentrated on the systems.
  13. This has all been very good advise so many thanks for everyone's input. I really need to be more patient and study the briefings more. Also, I need to practice unguided weapons. I really like their potential as a fire and forget weapon.
  14. I recently started the campaign (SU-25T). It is definitely not holding my hand through it haha. I get shot out of the sky at quite a steady rate. I think a big part of it I get to greedy and try kill more than I should in one pass. My theory is using laser guided rockets as my AT Target acquisition: Radar ALT 600-1000m, RNG 12km-10km Attack Range: Radar ALT 450m-650m, RNG 8km-6km (Fire one or two rockets) Disengage, rinse and repeat. What I do: Target acquisition: Radar ALT 600-800m, RNG 10km-8km Attack Range: Radar ALT 350m-650m, RNG 8km-2km (Fire two to four rockets) Disengage, rinse and repeat. What I usually do makes me take damage (sometimes critical) and I my mission success rate is about 50/50. I end up getting many kills but I don't think I should look at it like that. First question: I do not like rockets and bombs as it requires me to get in close vicinity to the target (which is usually guarded by SAMs or AAA). I usually still with TV guided rockets to be strong AT. What is your usually loadout? Second: Is my theory of attack correct? Should I do something different? Third: What kind of attack doctrine do you use? One past; hit as much as you can...multiple long range engagements...etc. Thanks! I'm really interested in hearing everyone's opinion.
  15. Does anyone else feel the manual for this plane has insufficient information? I know it's imported from FC3, but I feel many items are not covered in the manual. How does it compare to other manuals? The only other module I have is the UH-1h Huey and it's extremely detailed. Missing Detail Examples: Weapon Types (some are included, only a few have warhead weight, min-max range, etc) Airplane Specifications (top speed, ceiling, max range, etc) HUD Explanation Some parts are very well explained, but other areas are not given much attention. For most peoples first plane, I think the manual should be a little more detailed. It's a good manual, I'd just like a little more than what's given.
  16. That's what other people were saying. But to be honest, I kind like the little screen (MFD) on the throttle because if I bind a key to a button and program the keystroke name, it will display on the MFD. This helps me a lot because I'm kinda new so I forget the controls :P I also like switching modes. Maybe you can use different modes with DCS keybinding but I can't figure it out yet.
  17. I would love the A10 Hog. I built that plastic model when I was 12 year old lol. Then my mom dropped it. It was no as indestructible as advertised :(
  18. I learned the solution through another topic. I wasn't pressing the Alt + 4 key at the same time. I was pressing alt then 4 sometimes. The Saitek software, SST, doesn't make a distinction between Alt, 4 and Alt + 4. So be careful when programming your profile. Because even if it looks the same, it isn't the same behind the scenes. Cheers.
  19. Blooze, you are 100% right. Thank you so much! cough and sorry for saying SST is shit cough I thought with the time delay set to 0 there won't be any difference. Plus there was no interface distinguishing between Ctrl Space and Ctrl + Space on the SST software. But again, thanks everyone for all the replies! I'll make sure to return the favor if anyone has the same problem. Cheers to an awesome community.
  20. Blooze, thanks for the tips. But it didn't effect anything. While I was testing it, I noticed the Ctrl Space Ctrl Space works. But Ctrl Ctrl Space Space doesn't. And I literally didn't nothing different. There is no time delay set either. So bizarre. What I'm just doing is setting the command I want to a more simple keystroke in DCS and then mapping that button in the SST software. It's a work around but I just want it to work normal lol. Thanks again.
  21. That's exactly what I've been doing. So just map directly through DCS? Am I still able to use the Mode modifier when I do that? I like my modes lol. I know I can use the pinkie modifier but I'm just curious if the mode selector will work. I'll try it out. Also, has anyone used vJoystick or similar software? Basically, a similar keymapping program? It is much easier to do outside DCS but if it's no choice it's no choice. Thanks for the reply.
  22. This drives me crazy. I had now two problems trying to program commands to the x52 Pro with the Saitek software. With an Su-25 profile and a huey. I map Mode 1 T1 (switch 1) to Flaps up (shift+f) and T2 flaps down (ctrl+f) and it works perfect. Then I switch to Mode 2 and map T1 to Ripple Number (LCtrl+space) and T2 to Ripple interval (V) and T1 doesn't respond! There is no way for me to program Lctrl+space to either T1 or T2 or fire A or anything, no matter what mode. I'm so damn frustrated with this I don't even want to play. I know it's a small detail, but I pay so much money for something I expect it to work the way it's advertised. If anyone has ANY suggestions, I'd be really appreciative.
  23. I can only speak for the Huey, but the buttons I use the most are force trim, autopilot, flex sight up/down, arm up/down, arm select, rocket select, gunner AI control, and kneeboard. Oh, and the trigger of course! I'm still fine tuning the controls though. Also, I have zoom in/out mapped to one of my hats. Very useful until I get a TrackIR.
  24. When flying a plane, I have a pretty good feel about giving the plane some slight rudder left when banking left. But in a helicopter, I'm not sure I feel it's really necessary. The rudder allows for some crazy maneuvering you obviously can't accomplish in a plane. So on basic banking, should I be using the rudder? On that thought, does anyone have any good resources to share about helicopter maneuvering? Seems like it'd be a helpful resource.
