  1. Sharpe, really? So you're telling me that it's perfectly fine to be forced to zoom in on everything? How is that realistic at all? Games like IL-2 and BMS make spotting actually possible. This is without zooming. Even dropping the discussion about realism, it's just not fun too zoom in to the max to try spot a pixel. Good luck have any dog fights in WWII or Korean War aircraft. Combat just becomes a tedious game of spot the pixel. At the end of the day, it's still a game. Games should be fun. Zooming in to the max to spot anything past 3km is not fun (or realistic!).
  2. I hope they model a star destroyer. That way maybe I can actually spot something outside 4km lol
  3. Yea, I'm not sure how a ten year old game gets it right but a high fidelity flight sim ignores one of the most fundamental visual aspects of dog fighting. To be fair, the DCS workhorses are the Blackshark and A-10 so I guess visual representation of other aircraft wasn't high on the list. But then again they had flaming cliffs! So no excuses ED. Please address this in DCS 2.0!!
  4. You're sure you don't mean the BS 2???
  5. Damn you! The opposite happened to me!! Still a happy Mig pilot though :pilotfly:
  6. If ED was worried about more revenue from their sales, they shouldn't have cut their own sale short by a day. They said their last sale would be a three day sale, but it only lasted two days
  7. Noooo, I just bought the Mig-21 three days ago on steam for $50 because I thought the price wouldn't drop. Now it's 50% off lol. And I knew the sale was right around the corner but I didn't know it was going to be this Friday. Why do I never listen to my own advise about not buying a game for the full price...
  8. Those two products are from a 3rd party developer called Belsimtek. They are very poor at communicating with the community so it's difficult to tell exactly what they're working on. There are some incomplete subsystems, no manual, no missions, and no campaign. There is no timeline for when these features will be developed. But given their track record, I would not hold my breath. They are very flyable planes, but still in development. If you're new and thinking about buying one of the "beta" products,I would stir clear of it. You can get a much better experience with complete modules like Flaming Cliffs 3, A-10C, Blackshark, and the Mig-21. I only own two products, the UH-1h Huey and the Mig-21 (which I bought this week!). Both are amazing and very fun to learn.
  9. Something a manual should resolve. Too bad Belsimtek's priority for manuals seems to be at the bottom of the list. Who needs a manual to fly a jet anyway.
  10. I started up about 2 months ago (After buying the UH-1H Huey in 2013 :D ). I just bought the MiG-21 yesterday and man it is a joy. It's more in depth than the FC3 planes but not so complicated like the A-10C. I would personally buy FC3 because of the F-15 and Su-27. Easier to learn and fun to fly. But I wanted to wait for a steam sale (usually about 75% off) so that's why I got the Mig-21.
  11. I just bought this module two days ago so I'm still very new to the Mig-21. But I keep experiencing flameouts too. I don't think I'm overspeeding or making to many extreme maneuvers but I could be wrong. I hope someone can answer OP's question. Maybe I slow down too fast...
  12. Just tried this tutorial yesterday and I ran into the same problems. I followed the guide as close as I could, twice, and I can never get the drones lined up without turning off the AP.
  13. I just don't understand how I can spot a tiny little Zero in IL-2 1946 at 8km and I can't see anything in DCS at 2km away (rough approximation!). What is DCS doing wrong that makes things so hard to spot? I mean, in a ten year old game I can spot at good distance, be able to tell plane shape and direction. In DCS I'm lucky to see a pixel!
  14. I don't have any WWII module yet. I'm just wondering why is the AI so different from a human player? What makes it such a pain in the ass?
  15. I think that's really interesting. Or even at the start of a campaign you get a random hidden amount of tolerance. Just something to spice things up. Obviously this should be an option to turn on or off.
  16. And my contribution to the debate is that there's nothing to debate about if we're answering OPs question :D Like I said, it's going to be one module, you can fly any position in that plan. There will be no free seats or double price points. Whether or not it's a good idea is up for debate but no one ED will do this.
  17. I see no point. I don't need a larger map just so I can fly longer to my object and have a longer RTB trip. Just gimme some maps from different famous theathers and it's enough. I'd rather have quality over quantity. A deep lake rather than a shallow ocean if you will.
  18. I don't understand how this is even a debate. It is simple. You pay for one module, you can play any position of that aircraft. If you don't pay for that module, you can't play any position. That thought process is not complicated and this will be the case without a doubt.
  19. That is a badass track. Very good stuff.
  20. Wow, sounds like fun! I've never tried MP yet but this server might get me to take the plunge. I'll try get on Friday night (my Saturday morning in Tokyo :D GMT +9).
  21. Awkward...:music_whistling: But I can't say I disagree with the person you replied too. I don't consider it a waste of resources, but these are probably the only modules I have no intention of buying. I just have zero interest in flying these because I have zero interest in the aircraft. Maybe if you put out a promotional video of the history of the airplane or tried to hype it up a little before release, there would be more people eager to pay top dollar for it. I hope these aircraft lead to bigger and better things with your company but I just can't justify paying for half a product. Other modules include combat systems which in turn lead to multiplayer. If you can "just" fly the plane I don't see it worth being $40 or $50 DLC. EDIT: Looking at the products again I see you actually can use the Hawk in combat and it's cheaper than I thought. That's nice. Still though, there are so many more modules that appeal more to me than the Hawk.
  22. Man, the more I play and read threads about DCS, the more I get concerned about it (because I want to like it so bad). This seems to be a serious problem for realism. Between -Super accurate machine gunners taking down A10s and Su-25s -Completely messed up missile flight mechanics -Inability to spot anything from 4km out (need some sort of reflection or scaling!) I am getting very worried for the health of the DCS World. I know most of the resources are being used on DCS2 so hopefully some of these issues can be addressed after it is released. I want to love you DCS!
  23. That sounds like a very Russia way to fix things :P Maybe I need to give my wingman an extra shot of Vodka to gather some liquid courage.
  24. Hmm, thank you for the suggestions. I will try these out at home eventually. Is it only me who thinks this needs to be addressed? I understand trying to evade but it seems like overkill. That and the AI is terrible at treat assessment.
