I have returned! I have now moved on to rocket practice. I seem to be rather inaccurate with them. I am trying to use them ina S&L approach rather than in a dive. I seem to overshoot quite often. I approach at about 200 feet or so try and get the reticule on a target and launch. I have the switches in Unc (down) Shoot (up) and auto (up). Ground attack. shooting 4 rockets at a time. The tutorial instructs to dive but I figured if I can S&L bomb with FAB-250 M35 TU perhaps I can do the same with rockets? Pepper a runway full of soft targets for instance. ANy advice? Oh just viewd Holbeach's rocket video....back to the field!

thanks for all the advise! I have downloaded a practice map and have been putting some practice in. I have tried some cluster bombs also! Oddly, the cluster bombs do not seems to damage the targets that are enveloped in its wrath. When the dust settles the units just drive around. Maybe a map setting or I am doing something wrong.

If I fly level the pipper barely comes into view if at all. When you say set the lower outer ring do you mean that I need to slide the pipper up a bit with the angular scale/intercept angle knob adjustment so that it is in view and then put it back into auto and then sight with the bottom of the pipper ?

Seems like the gyro is "a matter of taste" on weather to use or not. Your videos inspired me to try "bombs with parachutes"!! I am hitting specific targets. Lots of fun! Trying to figure out how to come in as level and fast as you..I seem to still have to dive a bit. Not nearly as much as what I was doing before (dive bombing)wo the chutes. Is there a specific way to set up for a level and low approach? Thanks!!

Thanks for the info! I am pretty sure it was the bombing tutorial that threw me off..I could have sworn that it made me put the bombs in gyro...I will revisit it. I am playing with s-24A and s-24B rockets ..so far I have done ok without the gyro but I do believe they are unguided so I will give the gyro a whirl with them. Thanks again!

Thanks Holbeach! I will take a gander through the manual to clarify the gyro. Would you be able to enlighten me on its usefulness and your experience with when to use it and when not to? I believe it is used with the gun in AA combat? Thanks!

should s-24A and s-24B AG rocket be shot in gyro mode or is that just for bombs? I notice a switch to warm up the missile warhead...how long does that take and is it modeled? Missiles seem to always work for me. Having a blast (literally)! Thanks in advance!

I have been really enjoying this Target Warthog profile. It has been very intuitive with easy HOTAS selection of shooting/bombing, weapon select,Weapon release IFF, radar, drag chute, auto start,braking,ejecting, views....be sure to print out the profile from the Target software for reference. I have used a few nice profiles but so far this is my favorite. Any comments/suggestions appreciated. Props go to Crispygrub for taking the time and effort to put this together. Enjoy. The APU start switch is the autostart and should be in the off position before jumping in the aircraft if you plan on using it. It will prep systems for flight. Thanks! I had been practicing on those and finished up the hard mission. At first I was getting killed on hard until I figured out I was firing the missiles too closely andalerting the other AI I was on the hunt. The very hard mission I have not figured out yet...the AI always gets the killing shot. edit: Oh just thought of another question. How long do the missiles (IR/SAHR) need to be warmed up for? Can they be "burnt out" if warmed up too long? I think the gun cam may need warm up also..just going through the manual and coming up with questions.

Is the A-7 Corsair still being worked on for DCS...Snooping around google it looked like it was in the works (at least at some point).

What is the Rs-2US-APU-7 specialty, I am guessing it is a fast missile for close AA wo the need for a lock since it is beam rider? Not sure about this but thinking about loading some up! WOnderful module!

I am working on the third mission which I have managed to fail it. I want to go back and play it but the camapaign keeps advancing. I already restarted the camapaign once so that I could replay that particular mission. Is there a way of replaying a mission without starting the campaign from scratch? I could not find the specific mission in my missions folder. I also tried to press refly mission before hitting next but that didn't work. Thanks in advance.

sure. I am using the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS. The right throttle has a slew control on it that slews the curser around the tad display. This slew control can also be pressed as a button. I am wondering if pressing the slew control has a default game bind.

I am wondering if the A-10c sim has a function for this. At the moment I have it as the zoom for my left mfcd but wonder if I may have taken off of a default setting. Is there a preferred bind to this button? Thanks, I googled and searched but couldn't find an answer. looking foreword to hearing back!

I'm finally able to get through killing the first target but the second target is absolutely impossible for me to catch. After killig the first target it gets extremely evasive. I am supposed to kill it with guns but I just can not catch it. Who has completed this tutorial and can offer some advise? Much appreciated. I'm going nuts.

Still working through the tutorials also....I have run into this issue many times,,,eventualy I figure it out. If you do one little incy bincy thing out of order..hit a wrong button, turn a dial the wrong way it's time to restart......I am replaying the nav tutorial again because I hit the wrong button on my joystick.

Thanks for the great comeback! Very helpful! I managed to find the airfield, land and park A-10C! Not the most perfect landing (used all of the runway) but the plane is not damaged....forgot the airbreaks are in increments..looked over at my wing and said oops and quickly got them the rest of the way up. With the HSI just to be sure I understand......if the line is vertical and to my right and the arrow is pointing to my right......that would mean I am flying beside the runway which would be on my right? If all things were the same except the arrow was pointing straight up that would mean I am going to be flying beside the run way?

Thanks Rongor, Is the neared direction something a pilot knows before starting a flight or something the tower will give him. Is it somewhere on the MFD? I am wondering how I would get this info if the tutor did not tell me.? Lookin foreward to hearing back....thanks for the help! takin 'er up now.

I am working through the various tutorials and they are starting to make more sense but I certainly don't have it all down pat. At them moment I am working on the landing tutorial with ILS. I do fine up until I radio the tower and it gives me coordinates of 228,30. I am not sure what I am suppose to do with 228 for 30 as well as qfe 29,89 Am I not seeing anything on my HUD to steer towards beyond the tadpole? Also the tutor tells me to set the HSI to 130 (if I am remembering correctly) What is 130 corresponding to. He just told me to set it w/o an explanation. I probably need to revisit the nav tutorial again. There certainly is a lot of information.......but I am actually making baby steps and doing better as I go. Thanks for any help!
