  1. I heard it out-turns a Su-25T !!
  2. IIRC - the bombs on the outer hardpoints can not be dropped in single-mode. It would cause to much of an unbalanced aircraft. Try it with the inner hardpoints - should work there. Guess its a feature of the AFV - question is - would the A-10 allow the single-drops in reality?
  3. Yeah, and thats great! What would be the point of all the neat aircrafts if you dont smash something on the ground? ;) Even the fighters would become useless - except for showing off in front of the girls :music_whistling:
  4. After reading about the Su-17 Fitter I also checked the Mig-27. Both seem to be very interesting single-seat airplanes with good attribs in the ground-attack-role. (Some LockOn-mission feature the Mig-27 in SEAD-role.) Any chance for them in another LockOn-Addon? F-111 for the western forces? Or is there already a sim out there, featuring any of the named planes?
  5. "Der Untergang" http://imdb.com/title/tt0363163/ Its about the last weeks/days in the "Führer-Bunker" in Berlin 1945.
  6. ROE often enforces those situations (since Vietnam) - pilots need to VID any contacts - and so there is no BVR. However, with next-generation A2A-missiles (all-aspect) - after ID, the pilot/computer just needs to look at the target (no need to turn), assign target to missile, trigger missile - and watch the fire-ball going down. And true - its about stealth... and also about electronic (automated) countermeasures, radar-jamming, radar burn-through, hacking/jamming of communications or D-Links, etc. ... and less and less about the "dogfight"-strengths of a pilot. A different set of pilots is needed for that - more tech-skills, more management-skills. Maybe the term "dogfight" changes to reflect that, but what I meant is that the "good 'ole" Get-On-His-Six-game will be outdated soon. (And I dont care much as long as there is a flight-simulator providing that :D )
  7. Thanks for the links :) The 1st one had really "okay" quality and showed some nice action. 2nd link was (unfortunately) blury and often the cam didnt caught the action or lost the Sidewinder :( However - Aim 9X is a really fearsome weapon. Same applies for the little russian IR-seekers we all know from the Mig-29. Guess that marks the beginning of the end of the "classic" dogfight. It had its time (nearly 100 years - from WW1 to early 21st century) - but equipped with such weapons the pilot never needs to point the nose of the aircraft at the enemy...... Next step: pilots will be redundant. .... So in some years we all will play simulations of the "good old times" - looking back at the times when humans fought the airwars ;)
  8. Basically I agree, although if I'd like to read the solution (instead of the problem) ;)
  9. Check settings - maybe the zoom is assigned to a controller-axis? So as soon as you would release the key - the axis reports a different setting and it gets set back to that position. EDIT/ADD: Would be nice to know how you fixed it .. in case that problem reoccurs on other systems.... :)
  10. You mean, will the TouchBuddy allow the simulation of a cockpit to look around in? Guess that would take some serious 3D-programming (and cost some more CPU-cycles). Besides that - not sure whether one has access to TrackIR-data once it runs in "advanced/absolute" mode. And - it would increase the complexity of TouchBuddy a lot, which is basically "just" a sort of display/mouse-check-program.... (and good at it, just judging from photos/reports) w75 out PS: Dont get me wrong, if I had the money I would have a touchscreen with TouchBuddy in no time ... the idea just great - simple, but highly effective.
  11. And while you are at it, dont map the trim-axis ... it wont work in the 25T:music_whistling:
  12. I understand that he has no problem with the 25T, but with the old modell (SFM)?! Sidenote: For 25T the Autopilot #3 will level (and trim) the airplane ....
  13. And dont forget to trim for the correct landing-speed! Stick should "easy".
  14. The *real* bad boys are there (@3800+)!! And most of the time they try to put a Sidewinder up my exhaust-pipe(s). Not to mention Patriots 'n stuff :music_whistling: Altitude is a luxary a Su-25 often can not effort ;) PS: And once in a while I'd like to catch that Stinger/Igla-boys smoking, taking a leak or just being spaced out :P
  15. And I still dont understand why they did this. I guess all the modelled planes have buttons for trim and none has trim-axis (like a trim-wheel in older planes). So why the step back? After all, it worked in pre AFM! Why not leave it to the player to decide what to use? It is not like a keyboard-joystick-combo comes close to the real thing. So why deny more axis to control? Just makes it harder for cockpit-builders and people with additional sticks/throttles.... If it is for realism's sake - disable Labels and External views, for everyone ;) And yeah, please, instead of taking away - give us something to brake with (no, not the "w"-key, something more "analog", even better: separated left/right-brakes) :P
  16. The manual stated, that the T is even heavier than the "old" Su-25. Maybe that fact also contributes to the (indeed amazing) acceleration? Unless I already know the targets (and the ingress went as planned) I use the following procedure for CAS with clear skies: turn into target-area, speed low, flaps down (fully?), line up with target-area, speed-brakes down .. aircraft shakes ... ID individual targets, line up with specific target, retract flaps ... aircraft should become faster, but now stable - and that is the time to lock on and/or fire whatever is available ;) After retracting flaps the aircraft accelerates and at some point will start to shake again (from the speed) .. so use the time between those shaking moments :D Salute!
  17. Upload image to image-host (i.e. http://imageshack.com ) and link it here?
  18. On the other hand - the Su-33 can carry a limited amount of bombs. Sure - it is not suited for CAS n stuff, but maybe it can be used to blow up some bridges or bunkers?
  19. Since I love the Tornado (and would (almost ;) ) give my right hand to see it in LockOn) - I love the 25T ... it can be flown the same way (except for the missing supersonic speed): one needs a detailed flight-path to follow, run in low and fast, acquire targets fast, drop bombs and get the **** out of there :music_whistling: Together with the AntiRadar-capability it is quiet a good attacker - and fugly ;) What I still dont get is how to survive a SAM-rich environment (esp. Stinger/Igla) - besides dropping flares, there isnt much one can do (??) :disgust: And I would really love to see the A-10 with AFM. After flying 25T for some hours the A-10 feels like on rails: rock-stable, no shaking, 9g maneuvers, tight turns with hardly any control-loss, etc. Maybe it is really (in reality) such a difference between the two planes!?
  20. Because it seems like with AFM the trim can not be assigned to a axis anymore (read: it is ignored). Does it work on your Su-25T? So either you split the rotary into 3 or 5 bands (I have 2 of them for each direction (up/down) with different intervals (250ms/750ms) for the trim) - or you "click" up/down via Coolie-hat (as it is done in the real aircrafts). Sidenote: The argument about the trim on "wheel" - no aircraft in LockOn had a wheel before, but still it could be assigned. Its a bit sad, that the option got removed from AFM, esp. for cockpit-builders or people with a lot of sticks/controlls in general :( Its not like a keyboard is a good substitute for a fully interactive cockpit :noexpression: - so every assignable control-axis helps .... if you dont want to use it for realism's sake - its up to you (as it is with labels, external, etc) ;) EDIT: Oh .. and btw .. can we have brakes (left/right) on axis? ^_^
  21. yes ... and sometimes even the trees are completely black .. (at least here on my 6600GT)
  22. And darkness? How dark? LockOn-Dark? Because ATM I have no big trouble to ID vehicles and other ground-stuff in the night without any NVG .. somehow the pitch-black darkness is missing - or do I have weird video-drivers? Salute!
  23. Nono!!! Lets run around in circles, get excited, waving hands over our heads:cheer3nc:, screaming at each other like mad :director:  .... then the paranoia settles in .. will it be good, can it be any good? :fear:.. OMG .. all dreams destroyed .. is life still worth it?? :disgust: YEAH - THAT is the right way to deal with unreliable, subjective and uncertain comments and statements (about things which are subject to change anyway). PS: Sorry, its one of those smiley-days.... ;)
  24. Anyone knows a mission-database? I am looking for small COOP-missions, but guess I have to modify existing SP-missions!? S! - w75 Readme/DB-style - summary for the "Choppers Down" by christopher_m Missiontyp: SEAD Aircraft: Su-25T Players: 1 Mission: find and destroy 3 convoys and 2 Mi-24s before they reach a crashsite Difficulty: insane ;) known threats: Mi-24s pot. threats: AAA, Sam hidden units: none (?) Duration: 15 min Overall activity: medium Target activity: heavy Comment: cover some downed helicopters until friendly helicopters arrive Author: christopher_m (originally with A-10, created by Mualeflyer?) Date: ? Classified: eagle
  25. And I thought you ment "Their Finest Hour". That neat sim had also some sort of dynamic campaign. The player could set targets for different flights (2 per day?) and then climb into the cockpit himself to improve the stats/increase hits. *sigh* PS: Some1 remembers the tanks in Combat Pilot?! :D
