  1. It has really good fps as well, like sitting in a living room , as compared to harry potter cupboard under the stairs in the gazelle!
  2. I'll pay more attention to what's happening from now on, I know for sure that once it fell off from a cold start, performed by me, I noticed a weird noise just as the rotors got up to full rpm, then when I took off immediately started spinning, the track did show the tail falling off just when I noticed the noise, well before I touched the collective.
  3. Maybe it's just me but, so far I've had three instances where my tail rotor assembly has fell off, once from take off, which I put down to my HOTAS controls not being in sync when I did the startup which was understandable maybe, but twice in a hover it just fell off resulting in a crash, wasn't over stressing the engine, hovering about 100ft, no damage previously in flight which was only 5 mins since take off. Tried co capture footage but I was ucing the Oculus and DCS crashed when I tried to save the track. Anyone else have this ?
  4. The F15 is by far the worst cockpit for me, almost unplayable, the A10 is probably the best, and the new ones are all ok,for frame rate I mean. Draw distance kills me, I run ultra shadows with no hit to frame rate, but can't go over low draw distance, I'm using a reference 1070.
  5. This, it's the only thing I need to look "outside" for, once this gets sorted I'm never coming out........
  6. Where is the distance setting that makes the buildings look double ? Can't find it anywhere, on a side note, draw distance and trees/bushes are the killer for me, I can run HDR, Ultra Shadows, High textures with no ill effects, but as soon as I touch the view distance or the trees or clutter/bushes it all falls apart ! Which Is fine because on the low setting the trees just disappear slightly before I wouldn't be able to see them anyway, and my cockpit looks very nice with Ultra Shadows :)
  7. My stuttering issues seem to have largely sorted themselves out, it could be that fact I'm using that Intel thing that uses a small SSD to store frequently used files so the PC can access them quickly and I've been playing nothing but DCS lately! Either way, the fps issue has faded far into the distance as I am totally lost if the whole experience, :)
  8. I've had DCS since it first came out many years ago, dabbled with it briefly but never stuck with it, same with most flight Sims really. Then I received my CV1 two weeks ago, haven't been able to stop playing ! The funny thing is though that if I was getting the frame rates on a 2d monitor that I'm getting with the Oculus I wouldn't be able to play it, somehow the Oculus is able to smooth things out nicely. The only problem is that I live in Scotland where it's overcast or raining 80 percent of the time, and the weather is so much nicer in DCS, so I don't want to leave the virtual world......... As for motion sickness and frame rates, I've only felt slightly nauseous once when I lost the tail rotor in the Huey, that was fun ! As for "feeling like you're in a plane" , I've had triple monitor setups, track IR, and I would describe them as utilities, they help you see more and that's it. I thought the resolution would be a problem, that's why I never pre-ordered an Oculus, and you can see the screen door effect if you look for it, but honestly, you will pretty soon stop looking for it and loose yourself. I never realised how high the mountains are in that part of the world, stunning! Let me put it another way. If I wake up and the weather is getting me down, I hop into the F-86, pick a sunny morning., Fly for half an hour and come out feeling alot better, it really is that good. Keyboard and mouse use is fine, although I mostly fly clickable cockpits, so only use the keyboard for Num 5 , to centre view and F1-8 for comms, the Oculus has a small gap right at your nose so if you have the keyboard in front and below you you can see just enough to use it, and as long as you can find the mouse you can use it fine, the only trouble I have is that my joystick is closer to me than the one in the F-86 is in the Sim, so I keep reaching too far in front, that's more of a sign of how convincing it is though than a negative, sorry for rambling but I think you can tell how amazing I think this whole thing is ! Also the good thing is that you don't really notice if the graphics settings are on a lower setting, the whole "being there" thing totally negates that. I used to spend more time fiddling with graphics setting trying to get a decent quality and 60fps without stutter, now I couldn't care or don't notice that I am using lower settings, strange but true. And maybe when 2.0 arrives it'll get even better, but for now 2.0 is just too unstable for me , but I do get better image quality and performance with 2.0 Alpha, but it completely locks up my PC and I can't be bothered with a full reboot every half hour or so. Another thing you notice is that some aircraft have much better performance as far as graphics go, the F15 is basically unflyable for me, but everything else I've tried works great, maybe because it's a Flaming Cliffs module ?
  9. Just got my Rift during the week and was majorly looking forward to trying DCS, DCS 2 completely hangs my PC every time I try and fly a second mission or make a change to the graphics settings, 1.5 is very stable but so far have only found two cockpits that get anywhere near 90 fps, the big Russian helicopter and the A10, the rest are pretty much unplayable, but choose an external camera even one showing the plane and the fps shoots up to 90, seems some of the cockpits are very badly optimised, hope it gets sorted because apart from the frame rates the experience is unbelievable, or should that be believable ? I'm running a 1070 and some sort of i5 with 16 gigs of memory.
  10. Was it not just the hair thing in the witcher3? I have a 970 and can run on ultra settings and provided I cap the frame rate at 55 it never drops below that, even if i drop to med/high it still can't maintain 60 but drops to 56 which causes stutter. Turn on the hair and the whole thing turns to crap pretty quickly ! Thankfully no hair in DCS, or is there?...................
  11. I don't really use the trim, I only really fly the huey, no brakes required either !
  12. Just bought mine a week ago, beginning to wish I'd bought a Komodo or built my own ! On second thoughts id probably just bastardize it and maybe stick a Leo Bodnar board in it.
  13. Sorry about that, getting too old for this stuff!
  14. Had an old G25 lying around, not enough funds to spend on a really good set of pedals just now, so I came up with this, needs alot of refining, but works quite well considering it was free ! Luckily my setup is in a shed......
  15. Hello all, I have a decision to make shortly, either a Hotas Warthog, or a GTX 970, can't do both, so if I can run DCS1 with mostly high settings at about 60fps am I likely to see a significant frame rate drop with DCS2 ? I know it's probably speculation at the minute, but you guy's know alot more about this stuff than I do ! Thanks in advance.

  17. Hi guys, trying to figure out the best way of getting my MFCD's somewhere I can see and interact with them. This Ipad app seems like the ideal option, one question though, before i go messing with virtual monitors and such like, is there any performance advantage to using a virtual monitor instead of a real one ? i have a 1440x900 that I can use for the MFCD's. Thanks in advance guys. Edit:i also have a spare video card lying about, would there be any advantage of using it to power the second monitor display? Or is it even possible ? Thanks again.
  18. I agree, the shame is that the video tutorials you install for the f15 keep telling you to take control at any time, but its just a video !
