I will consider one of these if I can just get over the lack of dual-stage trigger. Every helicopter I have ever been in has a dual-stage trigger, and I am so used to having it, that doing without would be a real bummer.

Not exactly a third party... need export engine rpm

If not you can use "mainpanel" to get the value from the gauge in the cockpit. I would go into more detail, but I have to go to work! -
I would love to see multiple models of all kinds of aircraft, but I tend to believe that once one is done, there won't be another version of it made until several other different aircraft are done first. But that's just me and we'll never know until the announcement is (or isn't) made. I'd say we'll see a UH-1B before we see an Mi-8T, for example.

I'm no developer, but I'd say the chances of that happening are extremely low. In fact, I'd say there is zero chance.

Helicopter is much more agile with AP on?

Really off-topic and quite a longshot, but... Is his name Vic H. by any chance? -
I should rephrase, I said use cash, but in reality, I use a credit card for everything. And I mean *everything*. However, I pay the credit card off every month. So I use it like cash, but I receive the consumer protections afforded me by the credit card company, which are very good.

This advice is not always easy to follow, but I follow it myself: If what you are buying does not: 1. Make money for you (e.g. something for your business), 2. Typically bring in more money than the initial cost (e.g. a house, normally), or 3. Absolutely required in the furtherance of #1 or #2 (e.g. a car), although even this one should be in cash if at all possible. Anything else, save up and buy in cash. Especially on "low end" items (cost-wise, compared to houses), like a computer, after the interest rate on the loan is factored in, you are seriously overpaying for something that will be essentially worthless in a few years. It's always the most painful the first time, but save up for a good rig and buy it in cash. Then immediately start saving for your next one, so you can buy it in cash, too...etc.

Simple misunderstanding. Nobody is saying that there is an AH-64 project in the works by anyone, but that all parties are currently busy with their current (non AH-64) projects.

Well then we should go by that... I'm assuming that what the book says and what is currently happening are NOT the same? That is, the book (pg. 13-20) says that pressing the collective brake should, essentially, temporarily suspend altitude hold until released. That was my original understanding way back in the day, but I guess I've gotten used to how it is now. I'm really used to the Mi-8, where pressing the collective force trim release button simply disengages the altitude channel. I'm going to delete my posts since they are just going to cause confusion. When I get a spare minute, I'll verify the current behavior against what the book is saying, and submit a bug report if necessary (unless someone else beats me to it). Thanks for digging into the manual.

Well, I would not go as far as to say that IR flares are *only* visible in IR...they are certainly visible unaided. I will grant that they are not very helpful as flares without NVG's on, but you will definitely know they are there...the flares themselves are quite visible.

Rotor anti-ice requires 204-volt AC, which is only available when the main generators are on and the rotor RPM is above around 89%.

I visited Log Base Echo several times, and we set up for s few days just a few miles outside of KKMC, but never visited the place. I was officially 2AD but my unit (1-3AVN) was attached to 1CD for the duration. I'll have to see if I can find any pictures. EDIT: Found a picture of me at al Qaisumah airfield. This was the place near Hafr al Batin that we stayed for a month.

I spent nearly a month just outside of Hafr al Batin.

Ahh yes, or as my coworkers call it, "Desert Breeze". The day my plane landed in Dhahran was my 19th birthday! I still have a copy of that day's Stars and Stripes (12 October 1990).

One man's fault is another man's budget savings. American Apaches are not wired and are not built with the necessary components required to employ air-to-air missiles. Or put another way, Apaches already have an awesome air-to-air capability, it's called an F-15, F-22, etc.
-
Production American Apaches (all models) cannot mount air-to-air missiles.

-701Ds have been around for a while now. Same engine as UH-60M.

HAVE * is just a program name. As far as I know, it is not an acronym and has no particular meaning. Lots of program names in the U.S. government have "random" program names like this. HAVE QUICK was a program to develop frequency hopping as a means to combat jamming and to increase communication security. I'd never heard of HAVE NAP until just now, but it seems weird to call it that as a name, since it usually refers to a project or program and not a thing itself, although maybe the program to get Popeye missiles from the Israelis was called HAVE NAP and they never really gave the weapon itself a proper name (other than AGM-142) and the "HAVE NAP" name stuck? HAVE BLUE was the Lockheed stealth fighter program that resulted in the F-117 Nighthawk. TACIT BLUE is Northrop program for a low-observable surveillance plane. I don't think any of those are acronyms, the government just likes ALL CAPS for project names for some reason. Well, they like ALL CAPS FOR JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING, IT'S MADDENING!

Well, he kind of did point it out... So he did post in the A-10C forum about something that happened in an A-10C mission. I think it's pretty clear by reading the post he's talking about the A-10C and not the Ka-50. Unfortunately, I did watch the track, and it's not the Smerch hunt mission, it's a track for "The Other Side" Ka-50 mission.

Depends on what you mean by "governors". If you're referring to the Engine Electronic Governor, it has no effect on the physical throttle setting, it just restricts fuel flow in order to prevent overspeeds and overtemps. Anyway, moving the collective DOES move the throttle, but that's not a fallback, that's just how it works all the time.
