  1. It is not correcting a mistake but just being more specific.
  2. The tires are spinning that fast that they expand like on fuel drag car?
  3. Have read about Allied pilots doing such maneuver > slam stick forward tho.
  4. 1.98ata K-4s were not present in meaningful numbers, if at all, even in 1945. EZ42 equipped D-9s and K-4s weren't that common either. Anyways, for for those that want to look at the a/c types in Lw units, at least to the end of 1944, http://www.ww2.dk/
  5. It is interesting that Kurfurst mentions paper trail and 1.98ata. In late Dec 1944, 1.98ata was trialed by a staffel of JG11 but wasn't cleared for operational use til ~6 weeks before the war in Europe ended. There is no evidence that 1.98ata was ever used operationally in those 6 weeks unlike for 150/25lb boost used by the Spitfire. There is only a fantasy order (that is, no original document has ever been produced) clearing 1.98ata for use. 25 lb boost was cleared for use in March 1944 (note: this is 12 months before 1.98ata was cleared for use in the Lw) and by Aug 12 1944, 16 squadrons had been converted to use 150/25lb boost. In Nov 1944, 25 squadrons of Spitfire IXs had been cleared to use 150/25lb boost. What Kurfurst forgets is that those ADGB Spitfire squadrons were not sitting around on the ground waiting for Doodle Bugs to arrive over GB but were flying operational missions over the continent.
  6. I think you will find that the LF refers to the engine used, Merlin 66, not the type of wing tip.

  8. Ding, ding, we have a winner. And, the fixed trim would be set on a 'clean' a/c as part of the a/c acceptance procedure.
  9. http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/mustang/P-51D-manual-5april44.pdf scroll down to the Flight Operation charts
  10. Only when it is coming out.:megalol:
  11. B-29 empty weight was ~1/2 again as heavy as a loaded B-17. B-29 was just a big girl with a great figure.:smilewink:
  12. The B-29 was a VERY heavy bomber. for example, the 39th BG had the destination VH added > 39th BG(VH)
  13. The Mitchell III and IV in RAF service were never cleared for 150PN fuel, so why would there be any such threads?
  14. Yes the Spitfire IXs and XIVs need something to escort.
  15. So? :dunno:
  16. The British received some 910 Mitchells.
  17. So if 426mph is the minimum max speed, then 3% plus another 3% needs to added to the 426. 426x 1.03 = 439mph 426x 1.06 = 452mph Does the D-9 reach 452mph (727kph) in game? Now 452mph is the max speed one usually sees for the K-4 but if 3% plus 3% is added to that 452 one gets the K-4 topping out at 478mph (769kph). It also means the DCS P-51 should be topping out at 463mph, which it isn't in game.
  18. disregard for now
  19. So what we have is the best for the D-9 and the average for other a/c. I don't know where this 11% comes from as: 26/22.9 x 100 = 113.5% 27/22.9 x 100 = 117.9% 28/22.9 x 100 = 122.3%
  20. Wouldn't the graphic posted in Post #89 mean +/- 3% and +/- 10%? Where does this 20% mentioned come from?
  21. I was thinking more of the future. Afaik the F7F was being deployed and the T-33 was based on the P-80 which flew in the ETO and MTO.
  22. Dora WNr 210006 tested at Rechlin (Group E2c. 2 March 1945) had a gross weight of 4350kg. Full ammo carried. Unfaired ETC504 With drop tank, the weight increased to 4640kg. Climb @ 3250rpm ranged from 16.6m/s @ sl to 12.2m/s @ 6300m. Time to climb ranged from 1 min to 1000m to 6.8min to 6000m (cooling gills open)
