  1. Gratz m8, Yes it's an awesome piece of kit. Some peeps moan about the cost but in my opinion, it was worth every penny. :joystick:
  2. They work now John, I was kicking myself, what was I doing wrong? It must be me!. I was trying to work through the wiring diagram but as Janis says it's totally new to us, so i stumbled on until I asked Hans. I was scared to put 10 volts through an arduino, but now I know they are quite happy with that voltage. Don't heat up much, it was a learning process for me, totally, I had got 2 x 16 working no problems but I could not even get hello world out of the 2 x 20. You just got to cut us noobs some slack. We learn as we go along bro. weeb

    Laser Cutter

Well that went just as I thought it would. Got the 55 inch, 4k, 3d, quad core smart television set up in the living room (wireless access and firewall rules were a bitch to set up), just to check it was working OK. Its awesome, so much so it's staying where it is and gonna have to buy another one for the flight sim. I will have to use my 37 inch until I can find a similar offer. Wallet has taken a serious shafting this month, with the laser and the new pc for DCS. I am going to be eating grass or hay for the rest of the month.
  4. How about the 20x2 LCD displays...any problems with those reading the same data? John I could not get mine to work at all on arduino and mega, they were not cheap lcd's, think I paid over 20 uk £ each and I could not make head nor tails out of the information pdf, I thought I was over-volting them until I spoke to Hans and he pointed me in the right direction, I was actually under-volting them, just for others information, dont give up. I have a DC generator box thingy 0-35 volts dc, auto amping, they actually take 10.1 volts before any information shows. Sorry if this is a tangent, just thought should let peeps know, says 5v, supposedly takes up to 7v safely, but realistically it takes 10.1v. weeb

Lol, that video was scarey m8. Glad you got some customer support from the tech guy. I sent mine back today to be replaced, cost £50.06 to ship cos they wanted it by Royal Mail tracked Parcelforce. I have until the 12th of March to hear back from them or I am invoking the money back guarantee and I will take it from there. :)
  6. Janis, just keep at it m8, I'm in exactly the same boat. I knew nothing about programming and had little interest in electronics until, 5 people came into my life through DCS. Hans (HMA), FSF(Ian), Gadroc, Boltz and Warhog. Each one played a significant part in getting me into Programming, Arduinos, Chinese knockoffs, lasers, etc etc. I am still in my infancy with it all but once it got a hold of me I just can't stop. If I have a query any of them will help, the support on this forum is extraordinary. I went onto ebay and just bought a huge collection of breadboards, prototype boards, jumper wires, switches of all kinds, rotaries, power supplies, unos, megas, (Chinese ones are cheap as chips) and equally good if you don't mind waiting a week or two. I'm still overwhelmed with it all but I try and make a point of learning at least a couple of new things every day. Who knows? 6 months down the line I might actually become competent in it all.

    Laser Cutter

My saga is still ongoing, yesterday they contacted me back and asked me to send the damaged one back and they would issue a replacement. Address in the Midlands. It's cutting it very close as due to me purchasing it during the Chinese New Year, 1/2 of my 30 day money back guarantee time had expired even before we had contact. I'm going to parcel it up today, they want it sent Royal Mail tracked which has 2 problems: 1. I'm disabled and unable to get to the Post Office. 2. Why the fcuk they expect me to pay the exorbitant cost of returning it but it's written somewhere in the small print that I am responsible for it. So In all honesty I have no idea how this will pan out. If I send this one back and they give me the rubber ear I am outwith my 30 days so I could get shafted, but I will keep peeps informed how it goes. One thing to cheer me up, my new 55 inch quad core 3d, curved screen TV has arrived so a mate is gonna come along and help me get it set up.

    Broke my ankle

Just to let you guys know, my dad was taken into hospital just at the the weekend, I was taking my mum to visit him and there was a huge hole in the carpark on the darkside of the card. Let me 75 old mum into car, walked round and under brokenlight there was the ultimate hole and I was moving forward. I'm out of hospital with a couple of plates and pins, just in case you thought i was awol . wadz :(
  9. Absolutely brilliant. I love the su27 with the wheels down full flight. That is like me. You can choose to have fun or get all realistic. I would fly with you guys no probs. I took off with the cockpit hood still open and could not understand where the crack came from, and it hit my wingman. :)
  10. Nice one Neil, and thanks snottus for highlighting it. I read the mail online for dis-information, its kinda plug and throw. I mean it knows about SAS ops before the troupers do. It's been telling us that ISIS are gonna get a kicking in May when they retake that town (which shall remain nameless). :)

Should run the last troublesome viewport in the cdu, innit.
  12. Okey Dokey, matter is resolved.Maybe I'm a bit fragile. You are a huge benefit to these forums and I appreciate your input, I know you spend a lot of time in the background, helping others. Consider this matter closed. You are still on my Christmas class list. Stay frosty. :)
  13. Deadman, why are you poking me over semantics, I could pick you up on "Witch" should be which. You have been a great help to me, you don't have to justify yourself in any shape or form to me. You sometimes come across: in this forum as verging on rude. Go check verging on, I'm sure you can find an issue. I for one appreciate your help, but don't talk to me like i am a piece of shit on your heel. weeb
  14. Actually Dimebug was spot on, it was me who had screwed up. Here's the redone calcs.

    Laser Cutter

That looks a really sweet machine. I did a search on Alibaba, and got various prices. If it's not being nosey, what did it finally cost all in. By the time I have got my upgrades I will have spent about £650.00 uk that includes initial machine purchase, and I will know a lot more about lasers, I love learning.
  16. seems a bit of a waste: But hey Ho just another f ucked up part to my week.
  17. ahh kk I understand, just I have already cut all my wood, just needed the angle' looks like an early bonfire night :(
  18. Deadman, need your help again. I have been using dimebugs plans to cut the right and left console but I have an issue with the maths. Sin/Cos and Tan, in dimebugs plans he puts the angle between outer console and inner console at 18 degrees. His stencils are at 13 degrees and maths says 20 degrees. What is the correct angle between the consoles? :helpsmilie:

    Laser Cutter

I knew what I was getting into. I think half the fun is learning and developing what I have into a useful platform to complete the tasks that I have in mind. As Anton said it would appear that: quote: "we have received payment for your purchase , any problems, reply to this email and we will get back in touch within 8 hrs" 62.5 hrs later still waiting, (4 emails). I am a realist, I will give them until the 23rd of this month (Chinese New Year), raise a case with Ebay, and then rip the innards out and build my own. Helll! the box and the tube are fine, it's just the clusterf uck of their parts that's an issue. I'll keep you informed as to what and how it goes from here. I'm retired now, money is a glitch not a problem. It might help others who decide to go the cheap way and buy a laser cutter/engraver. If anything I am honest, I will give credit where it is due but I will savage when it's not. weeb

    Laser Cutter

Thanks for your support here Gadroc. I bought a machine, I knew it was cheap, but the laser tube costs 3/4 as much as the whole gaff. The outside is solid enuff for me to be happy to buy a 330 quid upgrade. I'm learning, hell I didn't do flight sims a year ago, my dad gave me a shot, hooked,I'm going to make a lot of mistakes but do you know something, I will learn from them, and I look forward to issues, there are people on here that will help you. When you are throwing your own toys of the pram, been there done that, people here understand the frustration., I'm like so chilled waiting for Chinese to get back on the 23rd. We will take it from there.

    Transfer info

    Perfect. Thanks DM.
  23. Deadman you seem to be a man in the know? What is the writing on this? I take it, it is an explosive charge to activate breathing oxygen on ejection, judging by the remove before flight pin. weeb
