  1. Thank you Boltz, really appreciate the offer of help. I'll drop you a pm when I have more time and introduce myself m8.
  2. Best thing I ever bought, In my honest opinion (IMHO) worth every penny. :joystick:
  3. Trounce, If you are sure you want to go down that line, we can probably help each other here. I did all the lets make it better stuff, 3 X 27 inch monitors, softth, superb looking, got a standard made Throttle/Hotas stand, didn't like it so cut and weld etc, now I'm well happy and it will fit in a full cockpit build. The 6 dof in the a10 was really good but I thought, na, I want to make it physical, so I started my first switch box, just to see if I was any good at the electrical side of it. Hans (HMA) helped me alot. So I bought all the switches/box/bbi32 and tried it, learned to solder (was a problem as I used to weld as a sat diver, totally different from soldering, trust me). I'm like wow it worked. Now I am going to build a full a10c cockpit, from the ground up. I know they are trying to retire it, but they had to bring it back into service for current missions. It's the best CAS aircraft ever imho so I'm happy to have it in my spare bedroom for many years to come. If you want to go for a build, I will use this post for my trials and tribulations, post up how to's and you can post up your successes and failures for people in the same boat who want to start but don't know where. If you want to deal with it email and skype etc, ,let me know, not a problem, I'm gonna post my progress anyway. Best regards weeb
  4. Cheers Deadman, you're on the ball as usual. Much appreciated bro.
  5. Many happy returns to the Oracle of DCS. Have a good un bro.
  6. Sorry guys, question time again. Does anyone have to hand the colour code of the green oxygen bottle on the side of the aces 2?. Thanks again guys for all the help this year and by the way Merry Xmas when it lands in whatever country you reside.
  7. I want a hawk
  8. Chalk me up for one as well. :D
  9. I have Windows 10 Tech Preview Build 9860 and Windows 10 preview for enterprise build 9879, both running on VMware and so far I'm quite impressed. I certainly won't be making the jump from Windows 7 to 8.1, but I would certainly consider 10. It's much cleaner and just seems to work even in early builds. I found some issues but that can only be expected. I relation to the ram question, it's running away nicely on 1.5 gig here.

    GP Wiz 40

Thanks for the offer of help, I will probably need it. I have been reading through this part of the forum for days sifting information and trying to decide which route to follow as there are so many different ways to go. Some really awesome pits here. I think I will go with: Make a generic electrical panel, this would allow me to get the hardware (board, switches etc) put together, learn how to set up the export lua and finally make the switches communicate with DCS. Once I have mastered that I will probably go full cockpit and move it to spare bedroom as it's already to big for my lounge. I am going to order the BBi Button box from Leo and I can get SPST toggle switches quite cheap on Ebay. I will give you a shout when they land and maybe you can give me some pointers if thats ok?. Cheers weeb

    GP Wiz 40

Cheers Hans I'll give leobodnar a look. I was asking about gpwiz purely because most of the tutorials here for pit building seemed to point at them. I don't mind paying a bit more so long as they do the same thing. I'll let you know how I get on. Many thanks for taking time to get back to me.

    GP Wiz 40

:helpsmilie: Can anyone in the know, point me in the right direction: I am looking for a GPwiz 40 board from a UK supplier but I seem to be running around in circles and getting nowhere. If there isn't one, has anybody in UK ordered one from groovygamegear, if so was there any problems associated with it, ie shipping, product not arriving etc.? Cheers and thanks for looking.
  14. Love the Website, clear concise and extremely informative, like MacFevre says: Donations. I'm sure people like myself who will use the information and downloads would be more than happy to make a donation towards the upkeep of the site.
  15. Yeh, I understand where you are coming from m8, here in Scotland something being on its last leg/s means its about to expire, break down or otherwise go tits up. However on "The last leg" means almost completed. Title threw me as well. :music_whistling:
  16. " And i need my LMAV back, otherwise i will tell USAF all about this illegal implementation and possible hidden datalink features." Nurse!!! He's out of bed again. :music_whistling:
  17. Cheers buddy, that answers that. Appreciated. weeb
  18. A10-c Hotas Before I start hacking and slashing to make my flight control stick, I wondered if anyone on the forums who has either been in an A10 or seen the cockpit up close could answer a question for me. I searched and looked at lots of photos but I still find it inconclusive. Does the hand grip/trigger part of the joystick have an offset IRL or does it point straight forward? It would feel more natural will a slight offset to the left looking forward, but I'm not sure how that would affect the control of the buttons. :joystick: Cheers weeb
  19. Weeb's Gaff (Work in Progress) Please excuse the disorder. I am in the midst of doing my flight sim build, so its looks a bit of a mess. I still need to route wires etc. Set up is 24 inch left, 27 inch centre and 24 inch right, using softth and bezel correction. Joystick, throttle and pedals are mounted on Wheel Stand Pro. This will change when I've finished creating and welding a top mount for joystick only in the centre, throttle will be on left of chair. Sorry cleaners day off. :music_whistling: Ejection seat. Now I had an electric massage chair and the weld on the base broke so rather than weld it back up it got me thinking, how could I integrate it with a flight sim chair. So I decided to build it in cardboard so that I could use the cardboard as templates when I was finished. So here goes. First problem was base of seat cushion was contoured wood and not flat so it took quite a while to get the profile right. I started like this. Then had to decide how to mount the backrest at 109 degrees. So it evolved like this. To this so far: Still got a fair bit to go as the contours on the back of the backrest need calculating before I can transfer all the measured pieces into the required templates for transfer to wood. It's been time consuming, not difficult, so hope it can encourage you to have a crack at making your own chair. weeb
  20. Don't laugh but my electric massage computer chair weld broke and kind of rendered my computer chair snaffu. I have separated the back and seat cushions and am in the process of building a hybrid from the (Aces 2 seat plans) the free plans on LOF. It is taking a huge amount of measuring and fitting but I feel I can come up with a compromise. I will stick some photos up in the morning as I'm getting tired, (shitty day at hospital). If anyone is interested I'm happy to share measurements and ideas. Weeb
  21. Mine arrived today bro. Speedily and in excellent packaging.Quality piece of kit by the looks of it. In middle of building Aces 11 seat so unfortunately can't test it yet, my living room looks like the Beach Landing scene in Saving Private Ryan. :)
  22. Sorry should have said Windows 7 here as well. I will try what WhiskeyBravo did and see if that works. Cheers for answering guys. Appreciated, and now I know I'm not the only one with this problem.
  23. I still have this issue. None of the volume controls work in the sounds menu. Looking at the sounds control lua doesn't make sense to me. Anyone got a solution to this yet? local mapping = { global_volume = {"volume", 0}, ui_volume = {"gui", 0}, music_volume = {"music", 0}, world_volume = {"world", 0}, cockpit_volume = {"cockpit", 0}, headphones_volume = {"headphones", 0}, } sound = {} local k,m for k,m in pairs(mapping) do local vol = 0 if options and options.sound and options.sound[m[1]] <= 0 then vol = options.sound[m[1]] end sound[k] = vol + m[2] end -- set up cockpit types sound['cockpit_world'] = { ['A-10A'] = { gain = 0.35, lowpass = 1000 }, ['A-10C'] = { gain = 0.35, lowpass = 1000 }, ['P-51D'] = { gain = 0.18, lowpass = 3500 }, ['su-25A'] = { gain = 0.30, lowpass = 2500 }, ['su-25T'] = { gain = 0.30, lowpass = 2500 }, ['Mi-8MTV2'] = { gain = 0.3, lowpass = 3000 }, } ambientSound = { surfaceSamples = 12, --must be a multiple of 3 sampleRadius = 30, -- meters resampleDistance = 10, -- meters resampleTime = 0.5, -- seconds fadeOutHeight = 100, -- meters windCount = 5, -- wind types windMax = 30, -- m/s turbulenceMax = 3, -- m/s
  24. I just started a cold start mission in A-10c and now noticed its not only fire-pull handles that are blurred. About 30% of all panels are blurred, including APU panel, Fuel Panel, Tacan and ILS panel to name a few. This is a complete fresh install of 1.2.8 from scratch. I can run same mission in 1.2.8 beta on separate drive with no problems at all. Makes sim unplayable for me. (Slightly older silver hair surfer here with eyesight to match).
  25. Same here mate. Can't put my finger on whats causing that. Bizarre innit. :book:
