  1. PERSIAN GULF 1993-2 38 vs 22 PVP Event Saturday February 3rd, 1930z Persian Gulf 1993-2 is a 38 vs 22 PVP event. The event takes inspiration from firsts days of Desert Storm conflict in the early 90's, where Iraqi MiGs faced an overwhelming force of a coalition led by the US. The objective for each side is very different; Iran will try to defend its home land from the invaders while the American forces goes after vital airfields in Iran. The mission is set up to be asymmetrical to simulate the non-balanced nature of a real conflict. To balance the odds, Iran fields an impressive integrated air defense in addition to the low tech fighters of the IRIAF. The event follows the previous PG85/92/97 events and will be largely similar, but with some changes to the balance. The coalitions will be BLUE: 10 x F-15E, 12 x F-16C, 4 x F-14B, 12 x F/A-18C RED: 4 x MiG-29A, 4 x F-14A, 4 x MiG-21bis, 8 x Mirage F1, 2 x F-5E The aircraft composition isn't 100% true to RL inventories in 1993, but is good enough. 4. Some movements in the roster have left us with these vacancies: 1 MiG-21 (red) 2 Mirage F-1 (red) 3 GCI (red) 1 F-16C (blue) 1 F/A-18C (blue) 2 GCI (blue) Take the chance to join this rather casual but very fun event!
  5. I've added a few slots to the mission so that a few reserves could actually join. Edited.
  6. Due to higher demand, the F5 slots have been converted to F1 slots. 2 more F1EE available on Red.
  7. If you go blue and get access to Blue side, you won't get to swap teams. I'll put you down for the 18. The alternative is to put you as reserve on the MiG...

  9. Schedule was already posted (see discord). Make plans with your respective opponent, to try and accommodate your availability.
  10. We've reached 16 teams and only got a few more hours before the deadline. For the formats sake, we're hereby closing the signup to finalize format and schedule. Thanks to all signed up participants for the interest shown so far. It'll be a great season! Any signups after this post will be put on a reserve list, should any team drop out prior to start
  11. TACT 23-1 Tactical Air Combat Tournament Tactical Air Combat Tournament, TACT, is an air-to-air competition among DCS squadrons with a high emphasis on PVP. It's designed to run over a couple of months in a championship type format (exact details will depend on the amount of teams that sign up). The plan is to live stream as many matches as possible. The event got its own discord server, check it out: https://discord.gg/XdaPsUJ Schedule TACT 23-1 will run late September to November but the exact schedule will be published after signup. Teams can reschedule their matches based on availability, as long as it isn't detrimental to the playoff schedule. Prizes There will be no prizes. We fly for glory! Streams We will try to accommodate as much live streaming of matches as we possibly can. Like last seasons, we will invite several popular streamers that can contribute to bringing TACT alive for the audience. Nowheels: https://www.twitch.tv/nowheels TitanFire: https://www.twitch.tv/104th_titanfire Archer: Archer06_ - Twitch Gruntlife03: https://www.twitch.tv/gruntlife03 misi: twirch.tv/herramisi Missions There will be a total of 4-5 missions in the event. All missions will have similar distance, layout and weather (e.g. no extreme mountains or overcast). Some missions will be flown in other theaters than Caucasus. Only if both squads can field enough pilots in a given theater can it be chosen. The fall back option is to fly on one of the Caucasus missions. Results submission Match results shall be submitted by the winner in the TACT discord (results and tacviews). Any disputes will be resolved among team representatives in the TACT discord. Signup The signups will close in 3 weeks, on August 27th 2000z. Sign up with the following format: Squad name, Timezone (typical flying hours), aircraft flown (non binding), Additional DCS maps availability (PG, Syria). See example below: Squadron: 64th Aggressors Timezone: 1800z-2200z Aircraft: F-16C, F/A-18C, F-14B Maps: Cauc, PG, Syria TACT 23-1 Rules TACT RULES LINK Only full fidelity modules are allowed. The match format is a 8 vs 8, best of three rounds air superiority mission. The tournament is open for virtual squadrons only. We recognize that not all squads can field 8 pilots (+ reserves) for every match. If a Team expects to be short on match day they are allowed to recruit up to 2 additional temporary pilots to complete the 8 plane roster. These extra pilots will be known as mercenaries. The mercenaries must not be squad members of a participating team. Mercenaries do not need to be included in the signup. To allow smaller teams to join, teams also have the option to combine into composite teams. A composite team may consist of upto two squads. Example: Squad A of 5 pilots combine with squad B of 4 pilots, to form Team X. Together they can put up at least 8 pilots. Bullseye will be centered between the starting airfields. Surrounding bullseye, there will be an engagement bubble, 90-96 nm in diameter (3 nm warning zone). TACT 23-1 will be run without any AWACS. All aircraft must be within the bubble at least 10 min after the first aircraft enters the bubble. Each round consists of one sortie per pilot. If a pilot lands, he/she cannot take off again*. After being shot down or crashing, the player must leave the server until the round ends. Each round is won if one of the two mission criterias is achieved. i) All of the opposing planes are destroyed ii) if a team has total air superiority in the bubble for 5 min. At least 1 aircraft must land after the mission criteria is reached. To promote combat and active engagements, the remaining pilots must land at the opposing team’s airbase. Returning to one’s own airbase is considered a loss of that aircraft. If a pilot disconnects while in the air, they are considered dead and must leave the server for that round. Weapon restrictions: See rules doc: TACT RULES LINK Jester is allowed, changing planes between rounds is allowed No stream sniping Known DCS bugs and exploits must not be used to gain an advantage. Teams should avoid unfriendly or unsportsmanlike behavior. Not every rule can be explicitly stated and teams should fly to the spirit of the competition. The United States are preparing to attack Iran. The assault is already late by 8 hours, but the leadership insist that the attack must go ahead. USAF have set up operations on air bases in the entire gulf region and the massive first strike is primarily focused on Teheran. Several carriers have also been dispatched to the Red sea and Indian ocean, but USN not yet entered the Persian gulf. A smaller strike force has been assigned targets around Bandar Abbas in the Straight of Hormuz. The strike will be launched from the forward air base of Al Minhad, south of Dubai, and the Carrier Battle Group that just arrived to Gulf of Oman. Weakening Irans capabilities in the Bandar region will allow the US Navy to enter the Persian Gulf and conduct operations deeper into Iran. Iran has a significant IADS network in the area as well as plenty of early warning installations. Objectives: RED: Defend Bandar Abbas at all cost. Don't let the US forces destroy their primary objectives. BLUE: There are 5 targets for the first strike. All are equally important. 1) Bandar Abbas Intl - Destroy the runways with at least three craters, on each. 2) Havadarya - Destroy the runway with at least three craters. 3) Bandar Abbas Intl - Destroy the air base command building. 4) Bandar Abbas, City* - Destroy the small building, believed to be the entrance to a command and control bunker. 5) Bandar Abbas, City* - Destroy the communication node in the city. A significant amount of military communications in the region are routed via the comms node. * The two objectives (4-5) are located in close proximity to civilians. Make sure to not harm the innocent, as it will affect the scoring. Each team will receive a reduced version of the mission file to check assets and targets. The full mission will only be available on the event. Skin suggestions Most airframes have appropriate default skins for the battle, but I highly recommend these tomcat skins for IRIAF (make sure to add them to F-14A) F-14A: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3304408/ F-14A: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3304485/

The event follows the previous PG 1992 and will be largely the same, but with some changes to the balance, to even the odds compared to the last ones. The coalitions will be BLUE: 6 x F-15C, 12 x F-16C, 2 x F-14B, 12 x F/A-18C, 2 x M2K RED: 4 x MiG-29A, 4 x F-14A, 4 x MiG-21bis, 4 x Mirage F1, 2 x F-5E The aircraft composition isn't 100% true to RL inventories in 1992, but is good enough. Red's task is to defend the Bandar region using its IADS and fighter-interceptors. Blue is to strike both strategic and tactical targets to make way for further operations in the war. Can the superior US fighters overcome the defenses at Bandar to claim victory?? 19. TACT 22-1 Rules Only full fidelity modules are allowed. The mercenaries must not be squad members of the opposing team in the specific match. Surrounding bullseye, there will be an engagement bubble, 90 nm in diameter. AWACS will be available in each mission in the group stage. Weapon restrictions: See rules doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1c8X6TkvOIrZRtl1z308zcuVWUGe3AHr5mcfNFtuY420/edit?usp=sharing Jester is allowed, changing planes between rounds is allowed No stream sniping Known DCS bugs and exploits must not be used to gain an advantage. Examples include (but not limited to) current ECM modelling, Flood mode launches, PH Active switch. Teams should avoid unfriendly or unsportsmanlike behavior. Not every rule can be explicitly stated and teams should fly to the spirit of the competition. *A quick RTB is allowed before combat has started to resolve INS or payload issues. Have fun and enjoy!
  20. TACT 22-1 Tactical Air Combat Tournament Tactical Air Combat Tournament, TACT, is an air-to-air competition among DCS squadrons with a high emphasis on PVP. It's designed to run over a couple of months in a championship type format (exact details will depend on the amount of teams that sign up). The plan is to live stream as many matches as possible. The event got its own discord server, check it out: https://discord.gg/XdaPsUJ Schedule TACT 22-1 will run early September to November but the exact schedule will be published after signup. Teams can reschedule their matches based on availability. Prizes There will be no prizes. We fly for glory! Streams We will try to accommodate as much live streaming of matches as we possibly can. Like last seasons, we will invite several popular streamers that can contribute to bringing TACT alive for the audience. HerraMisi: https://www.twitch.tv/herramisi TitanFire: https://www.twitch.tv/titanfire_ Tricker: https://www.twitch.tv/tricky_tricker Prez: https://www.twitch.tv/preznow Bullet: https://www.twitch.tv/104th_bullet NoWheels: https://www.twitch.tv/nowheels Missions There will be a total of 4-5 missions in the event. Signup The signups will close in 2 weeks, on August 14th 2000z. Sign up with the following format: Squad name, Timezone (typical flying hours), aircraft flown (non binding), Additional DCS maps availability (PG, Syria).
  22. PERSIAN GULF 1992-5 34 vs 18 PVP Event Saturday August 13th, 1900z Persian Gulf 1992-5 is a 34 vs 18 PVP event. The event takes inspiration from first day of Desert Storm conflict in the early 90's, where Iraqi MiGs faced an overwhelming force of a coalition led by the US. 23. To me it seems as if ED makes adjustments to individual parameters of missiles without regard for how that change affect the actual gameplay. They don't look at the big picture. If they were looking at that, they'd quickly see that the current shape of BVR is in fact not beyond visual range and far from the accounts of RL pilots. Current meta is not about setting up tactical formations, gaining energy advantage, having superior sensors, launching first missile. It's, as described above, flying low, notching and relying on lesser sensors like RWR. - RWR sensors are overperforming in DCS. We have degree-precision and it's very easy to find the notch with them. We have no ambiguity or missed signals. We pick up everything at an exact, defined range, almost instantly. There's a reason why the RWR is often small and placed low in the cockpit and it's not because it's a primary sensor for BVR SA. Add randomness, processing time, ambiguity, missed signals etc. And angular precision needs to decrease. - Giving an active missile your broadside at 3-4 nm should not increase your chances to 90%. Notching should be a niche, not the norm in BVR. - There's not a single pilot account, report, interview, manual etc that says notching an AMRAAM should be a thing. When was the last time we heard the following statement: In desert storm, the 58th Gorillas, arguably the best fighter squadron of its time, pushed low and slow over the border only to notch the bandits until close in at 5 nm, where they turned in hot and shot the MiGs. /s ED should make a full overview of your current development of the AMRAAM as well as other missiles, to get a coherent end product out to the consumers. I know some modules are EA and under development, but the F-15C is not, and is still being experimented with but running an indefinite development of it's main weapon. Many have spent thousands of hours in this sim and want to spend thousands more, but the current state of BVR is very discouraging, both for fun public server flying as well as PVP tournaments. We currently have no end goal in sight, as there's no official plan, time table, roadmap for the missiles. People are loosing interest when things seem stale. And each patch with notes addressing missiles seem to always be false advertising.
