I have sent an e-mail to the software owner :) will wait for an answer and post new thread if I find a solution, should anyone encounter the problem! -
MP sessions, am I missing something?

I really appreciate the effort though :) I gave up on it at some point, but it seems to be such a usefull tool it'd be amazing if I could get it to work... Would a fresh installation of DCS work+TacView work? One of the issues with re-installing TacView alone, is that it's registered in the registry, whiiich pretty much puts it back with the "settings" that didn't work... more of a recovery type, than a re-installation one... -

It says to do this in the "saved games"folder, but does it need to be done in the DCS main folder aswell? -

http://lomac.strasoftware.com/tacview-dcs-en.php I keep trying to do this... Recopied each file, filled each one again with the required lines... save them... put them back in Directory... yet the script doesn't seem to run :/ -

It just doesn't interact with DCS... staring at a blank world of nothingness, while the track is playing... There was this thing on the Tacview website aswell, where they said you need to manually copy things blabla.. which I did aswell but nope :( -

I've noticed those bugs in replays :p ( single player mission where I win vs AI, rewatch track, I lose and crash somehow ) I would have liked it to work in Single player before attempting to use it for MP, but unfortunately it just doesn't record :/ ( replaying last MP session with Tacview on just to check again ) -

I've learned that lesson now hahaha, there is no safe place once you get up there... No time to finish of the sandwich! I agree "unfair" fights happen, I don't mind them, from the moment it becomes a fight it's fun. When you just seemlessly blow up ( not in this particular case ) I don't really call that a fight... There's nothing to be learned... except from well... you shoulda just ... not have been there.. -

Tacview: followed all the steps ( admin rights ) installation + "record flights from DCS world" the little icon on the lower right corner even said "from now on everyting will be recorded", yet every time I fly and go back to it, I still end up with a blank page...unfortunately -

An su27 most likely, the RWR signals matched the person I was watching... So far I had no reason to doubt... My SA: I keep it simple. Ever now and then I do a 360 deg orbit to have an idea/picture of everyone around me. This time was no exception. I had allies, left, in front and home base on my right. -

(assuming) you could potentially turn harder/faster with less velocity loss, hoping that would give me some kind of advantage and little more time to react to incoming threats? -

JulienBlanc replied to JulienBlanc's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
That's exactly my thought... I had allies left, in front and home base on my right when I faced him... The R-73 came from above 100% sure, as the name, altitude and location matched the player that got the kill... I've had no success in installing Tacview, ( it won't record DCS ) eventhough I have followed all the instructions of installation ^^'' I've mostly been looking at replays of single player missions I created everytime I flew them to get feedback (not sure if that's possible in MP ) -

It's starting to feel rediculous... The amount of time I've spent trying to improve and end up toasted 2 minutes after take off. And I haven't even mentionned the one right before.. Take-off, Bullseye on 5' heading towards the sun just cruising to get into a better position ( sun behind me ), get shot after a minute? --- It's fun when you can actually say you've put up a good fight. Even if you get shot down. This is the total opposite. -
2'o clock spike, high, 40km out. Turn in, return full lock, he is at 12.000km heading towards me slow. 500'ish (kmh that is ) I'm at a disadvantage, so I crank him right? Beam him while gaining little altitude ( currently at 2km ) My speed is at around 800km/h ( around cornering speed just in case ). He is far beyond my 27-ER range. Just before max range for my 27, he fires I am forced into going full defensive, thus a Notch keeping him on my 3' I make a left turn putting him on my 10' relocating him on radar, 20km out still high and Poof, R-73 killed xxx. Sooo, I beam him from start off, get into a notch position for a few seconds, turn hard left, beaming again, at less than 1km altitude ( no afterburner to minimize heat sig. ) and still a R-73 launched from max range hits me? I've trained for months, on strategy approaches, maneuvers, theoretical data, Single player facing 1 to multiple AI's, seen hours and hours of content on these situations yet a Max range R-73 HITS ME? Come on... My WVR has improved a LOT, and I can see it has. Theory meets reality. But BVR remains a mystery... no matter how much you study, no matter how much you practice I've come to think it's all bull* and just a game of luck and no-skill point & shoot asap within range. as proof: I stepped into an F-15, pointed & shot and got a k/d of almost 3 to 1. I've dodged more missiles in an F-15 than in a Su-27, supposedly more maneuverable. Performing the same maneuvers.

I would not have referred to it as an issue, had I not asked about it ;) some apparently have not experienced this change.
-
Same issue here! In the su-27 the hud appears to have been reduced to barely half the size it was.... Quite frustrating as it was one of the reasons I liked it. Can't be bothered to zoom in mid-dogfight to have a reading on the boogie's speed, and dodgeAMRAAMs at the same time... Although it seems that not everyone has this issue!

One of the situations I faced recently is facing 2 Jamming targets, one on my 12' head on, and one on my 2'. As I kept approaching hoping to burn through their ECM I found myself ( according to the jammed radar lock ) at less than 10km well beyond launch authorisation, but still unable to a. Identify and b. Position them. Have I missed the clue to burning through ECM?

I'd be very much interested into joining TS servers other than the Acrobatic server ( On which I have spent most of my time learning about the aircraft that I am flying, as well as my opponents ) If you don't mind pm'ing me the server It'd be greatly appreciated :) Always in for a good laugh!

First of all I'd like to sincerely thank you guys for all the replies, and information you are providing me with. It really softens the mood and gives me the will to continue, improve, search for my mistakes and make adjustments. I noticed the so to call "Dead angles" of the RWR during maneuvers, and sometimes the RWR pops up again, in which case I really try to adjust the course to setting it back on my 11 or 2. I guess when it doesn't it means that it's already too late and incoming from the "dead angle" As of disengaging I may ( very certainly ) have been trying to rush towards the first contact too quickly and too unaware of the situation. I may have taken the idea of "F-15's will not engage unless they have the absolute advantage" and the "Su-27 will on the contrary be more opportunistic" a bit to literally... I rarely try to get a radar lock when I'm pushed into going defensive, the best thing ( Correct me if I am wrong ) I thought of doing was concentrating on the missile and on defeating it. As mentioned I do go tunnel vision on that missile as soon as I get the warning for it... Taking a few steps back I'm thinking that even though the PvP is the most satisfying and fun environment, it is absolutely not "noob friendly" as players may work as units, are scattered around the map ( team kills ) Boogies on your 10', 12', 3' and 6' at the same time. I have Tacview to observe my occasional single player missions, but I definitely have a long way to go before getting the utter hang of missile tracking and defeat. So far I've only managed to dodge long range SAM missiles I guess it's something! Thanks again for the support :)

Sick of BVR I've been flying the SU-27 for a couple of weeks. Doing research, trying to figure out flight patterns, evasive maneuvers and all that. But Right now I'm actually getting quite frustrated by the damn fact that NOTHING seems to be working. The notch, energy fighting, turn fighting, beaming the missile ( biggest joke ever in my honest experience. ) and plenty of others. The RWR goes silent, so I assume I've broken contact or I've been fired upon by a heat seeking missile. Big joke. RWR goes silent for like 7 to 10 seconds, still get hit. Guess what? Aim120. I've been Beaming it's original location Gaining & losing altitude flaring&Chaff. ( Still haven't had the slightest visual on any missile because there seems to be NO smoke trail after the first 2 seconds of it being fired. Or if I do hear the RWR, same story. try notch, or beaming, out turning it, out climbing it, plumbing it to the ground but nooooo still get hit. Right now my average score is 10 deaths to 1 kill m'right? Did get a Mig. or a louzy Ground attack aircraft. Bit frustrating when there's absolutely no improvement for weeks, despite hours and hours of research, trying, and putting effort into it. The same results seem to occur wether I'm flying at 30.000ft or 30ft to 50ft. Close A2A however I have noooo problems or what so ever. Doing pretty good on the contrary. I would terribly love to have some explanations right here. Do I just seem to be the terribly unlucky noob facing the 5 years experienced fighter pilot everytime or what?

My Dual screen config crashes DCS
JulienBlanc replied to JulienBlanc's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It is disabled, I've switched the sides of the monitors, making the "main laptop screen" appear top left in windows, changing the Lua accordingly, which seemed to have solved the crashing. I however can't get the RWR to appear or the CDU... F-15C I can only see Left MFCD ( radar ) but no RWR Su-27 I can only see Right MFCD ( radar ) but no RWR Would anyone know the lines to adding the RWR, Engine, and fuel management? Or where I can find them? I.E. in the F-15C I'd like the weapon screen aswell -
Hello! I have 2 screen set up for windows, where I have an old monitor 1280x1024 on the left, and my laptop display on the right 1366x768. I recently looked up to make a .Lua file in order to use my dual screen setup for DCS, but all I end up with is 2 black screens, and DCS has stopped working. I do have access to the option menu btw ( because it's still in single screen at that point ) Hoping you guys could take a look and help me out why it keeps crashing? :) _ = function(p) return p; end; name = _('My_example'); Description = 'Two monitor configuration'; Viewports = { Center = { x = 1280; y = 768; width = 1366; height = 768; viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = 1.6; } } LEFT_MFCD = { x = 0; y = 0; width = 640; height = 640; } RIGHT_MFCD = { x = 640; y = 0; width = 640; height = 640; } CDU_SCREEN = { x = 256; y = 640; width = 384; height = 384; } RWR_SCREEN = { x = 640; y = 640; width = 384; height = 384; } UIMainView = Viewports.Center I have then set the total resolution to 2646x1024.
