  1. Well you did call out a missile launch for me and I evaded it :D We didn't have proper plan or training and its good that you understood our general idea and tried to form guys for it. Not everybody did comply though :) It would be definitely harder without you. :thumbup:
  2. Just tried with air start and landed, chute opened as planned no problems. I do always place gear handle in neutral position after gear mechanics stops working..

  6. We were talking about A2G not A2A. I reviewed last match, where you went on solo sortie btw if I recall correctly... And when I tried to brief you at the start with tactics we are planning with our 3 ship A2G element you said "Listen, I already won some of competitions..." or something like that... Also MiG-21s were outnumbered, there were 4 or 5 more F-5s than MiG-21s, its easy to check. Missiles of MiG-21 was patched compared to last rumble match and some of my and mine comrades work was put into it. R-13M now has seeker compared to AIM-9P5 (if we take rear aspect), but AIM-9P5 has more travel range which is about 1/3 more than R-13M ( for instance R-13 travel 4.7 KM AIM-9P5 travel 6.2 KM as per my tests before patch in certain situation that difference can mean something but not all the time its need thorough research to say how much this advantage affecting match keeping in mind speeds of planes and reaction time of pilots). Also MiG-21 weapon switch selector logic was changed to reflect real MiG-21. R-60M is more maneuverable than AIM-9P5 and its seeker head sensitivity was patched aswell. And tracking bug is not there anymore. Me and Stuge did number of flights and trainings and so far we concluded that difference in missiles is something you can work with, it is impossible to level this in A2A by restrictions for A2G at the moment and stay fair. You just need to keep A2A differences in mind. It is a good idea to try to do that but you need more research I think and more statistics than just one match.. Visibility is something you cannot change aswell, and actually for me to spot MiG-21 is easier too only because of its engine exhaust, maybe it is close to IRL I dunno. If F-5 use Afterburner it is visible just as MiG-21. "F-5 pilots know that they can exploit the MIG-21 radar, flying low due the ground clutter" I would say that it is general tactic for any non BVR plane in that environment where we don't have SAM coverage... I don't see how we can change that. MiG-21 can go low aswell and F-5 radar will not pick it up because of same clutter. As for radar missiles of MiG I can use them in beam (visual) mode which will neglect flares of F-5. Of course you will never get fully competitive environment, but I see no reason to change A2G restrictions because of A2A... Balance is hard but differences are not so dramatic (if you take in account restrictions that already being made), we have to work with what we have. If you want clear competitive environment then we need match F-5 vs F-5 or MiG-21 vs MiG-21. I never considered any DCS event as competitive, despite what people would say unless it was a competition between same planes on both sides.
  7. If you would visit training that Stuge was organising weeks ago you would see how we kill T-55 tanks with salvo of 8 S-5 rockets... One salvo of 8 rockets can kill T-55 if launched properly. F-5 has no analogs to S-24, or to Kh-66 Grom it is unfair... On the contrary I have no idea how F-5 can kill T-55 with its rockets cuz its salvo too spread..

  16. Я добрался до Новака и наладил вроде контакт. Конечно он попросил меня о конфиденциальности и у меня есть NDA с ED. В общем вы наверное видели, что Leatherneck раскололся недавно на две части. Теперь МиГ-21 будет поддерживаться старой командой Leatherneck которая будет называться Magnitude 3. Новак (их пилот МиГ-21) никуда не делся он работает. Самое ближайшее он обещал что будет обновление AFM. Я буду пытаться теперь сувать ему все баги дозированно, посмотрим что выйдет...
  17. Hi guys! I'm calling for help. I've been working on a concept for DCS multiplayer for several months already. Let's say WIP name "3rd gen league". So far I asked for help of some friends, but things going slow at this point, I didn't have much time for it and I think research came to the point when it needs more experiments and less theory. Here is the wip description: Purpose: create as much balanced and competitive environment as possible for so called 3rd gen planes in DCS which will instigate usage of different aspects of aircraft warfare. Such as: Non BVR A2A, A2G, VFR and navigation in general (no F10 map labels), Team play, live strategical decision making, tactics in general. Concept: Use any of the DCS tools to force players to combine all aspects (determined in “Purpose”) in one match/round etc, but not stay on only one aspect. Find potential exploits and try to avoid them by adding new rules or mechanics. We did test concept and so far I just need more statistics to start shape event maps.. I NEED TEST PILOTS TEAMS. The goal is to organize events for 3rd gen. planes in DCS. We prepare an event - map and rules for you, and you need only to perform and have fun. It will not be some 24/7 server because at this point its not really possible for us to script all what we have in mind for that thing. We will just gather as community inside community and organize events based on competing teams proposed time (sort it out as it goes). I expect little attention to this initiative so let's set teams minimum of 3 pilots for starters. When we will gather at least two teams we can discuss test events dates and rules separatelly. At first I wanted to do this only as MiG-21 vs F-5. But since Viggen appeared I'm thinking about possibility to fit it in. So your teams should drive at least one of those DCS planes: MiG-21, F-5 or Viggen. The match itself will be possibly split into rounds, each round each team will have only one takeoff, no refuel or rearm, and both teams will have targets which they will choose to defend or to attack, so far I'm thinking to put formidable air defence.. Tests should show us how possible competitive environment for those planes is and what we can do to adjust it.
  18. I fly MiG-21 from the day of release I know the tatistics for F-5 kills. I can find them fine from far distance if they have sky background behind them. I see no big difference between MiG-21 or F-5 or even Su-27. When I fly on ACG server I just see two dots at the same time, when I getting close I see its MiG-21 chasing F-5 or vise versa... Of course you will lost aircraft against the ground, especially if its cammo fitting right. But its not about F-5 at all IMHO
  19. Well what I say is how it is work in DCS fro mwhat I know. There is special config file which has settings for LOD for every aircraft, level of details depends on distance. Also here is my take in nevada, this is 1080P aswell and it is a lot more sharp so you can see F-5 from up to 15 KM, it is distinctive black dot (consist from number of pixels) in the sky, distance is also there when I switch label on.   20. What do you mean by "model" ? Also video is hard to watch YT says its 1080P but resolution is really low... If you want to do informative video engage labels and switch them off and on again while test is going labels will give distance. I don't think it is tied to specific aircraft, all planes in DCS has same LOD ranges from my experience...
  21. You can negate bombs inaccuracy by number of bombs. F-5 has more pylons for ground weapons than MiG-21 does, therefore you can just use big number of bombs. Here is an example of F-5 bomb train (imagine three F-5s will bomb that place in same time!): Here is example of snake eyes employment (again imagine several F-5s in trail formation doing this!): For me personally F-5 has more potential in bombing, even if you just take number and type of bombs it can carry. IOfcourse I will check MiG-21 aswell.
  22. Our MiG-21 squadron was fighting new flight model too :D regarding landing we had same concerns but since last stable version I did thorough checks and looks like its kinda legit. So I took checkpoints, 200m above first beacon, 50-70 above inner beacon, and looks like it did put me in good glideslope (glideslope from RSBN is wrong I think)... As you see I did touchdown at ~295 KPH (range for touchdown by this IRL manual 280-300) and didn't bounce. So my conclusion is: something is definitelly changed but I can't say that current state is not legit if I can make this landing... PS In same version I also did bounced a lot until I did my study and tried that approach from IRL manual
  23. It is matters which tank you trying to bomb! T-55 has less armor and more prone to be killed by bomb than more advanced tanks.. For clusters you need to dive in specific angle and use more than one at the same time for sure to kill at least something. Solid way for F-5 is snakeeyes, F-5 Can carry 5 snake eyes on centerline pylon. Because it is centerline pylon you don't need to adjust left or right. You just drop all five in a ripple above target. From second attempt I was able to soar above column of 4 T-55s and kill two of them with that ripple drop. Although its dangerous cuz you want to go lower to drop dem snakeeyes more precisely..
  24. I contacted Chizh and we got through this, so far its pointing out that LN R-13M is underperforming so as LN R-60M has lower detect range than R-60M by ED... regarding R-13M we need more info, So far I see that R-13M max range was 15 KM but it doesn't say with which conditions.
  25. That is good question cuz R-13M in MiG-21 actually perform same as R-60M. Ok I did missiles test. Experiment was done on stable version 1.5. Target was F-15C traveling 800 KPH (no AB) at 4000 meters altitude, going straight no react to threat. Missiles were launched rear aspect. ===================== AIM-9P - 9.5 KM tone AIM-9P5 - 19.1 KM tone R-13M - 5.7 KM tone LN R-60M - 5.7 KM tone ED R-60M - 9.5 KM tone ===================== AIM-9P - 6.2 KM range AIM-9P5 - 6.2 KM range (ALL ASPECT) R-13М - 4.7 KM range (LIMITED ALL ASPECT) LN R-60M - 4.5 KM range (ALL ASPECT) ED R-60m - 4.5 KM range (ALL ASPECT) R-3R - 4-4.3 KM range (ALL ASPECT) ===================== tone - range from which I start to hear tone range - maximum range from which missile can still hit target Numbers here taken for certain experiment situation, they will change regarding to different parameters (altitude, speed, etc.) So don't take numbers into account but instead bear in mind that all those missiles tested in exact same conditions (or really close conditions). Just compare them and take percents to have an idea Basically R-60M in MiG-21 is not the same as R-60M on ED planes. LN R-60M has 2 times weaker seeker head. Also I think R-13M traveling distance should be almost same as AIM-9P but not 2 times less..
