  1. Like you said Grimes, that is really a big bummer as that version is no longer available thru Autodesk.
  2. Ahh yeah.... http://www.virtualnavairops.com/index.html
  3. Very good question Grimes on the 3D Max support. Will the new 3D Max supported plugins work with the latest 2008 versions that people are now starting to use? Or is it still the version 7-8 support. Autodesk does not sell older versions even if you have purchased the newer 2008 version lets say so using it for modding this sim does not work very well. As the models get a internal stamp when they are created which is important to anyone trying to sell there stuff as payware (;) better be using a legal copy). I am really hopeing they took a look at allowing support of 3D Max 9 and 2008.
  4. I also would like to thank ED for this great news. You know what this means guys, no using pre-bought models anymore, placing them into the game and selling as payware or ED selling it as an add-on. Now the pure 3D Max guys who have the ability to do it from scratch are going to be in demand.
  5. Glad to see everyone is liking the new F-14D so far. I have seen a few guys post some screen shots showing the tail white appearing as planes. This is kind of odd as everyone in the VNAO thus far has not seen this nor can we get it to do this on any graphic game setting. Oh well, I guess I will just re-create it anyway and add it to the file for a revison in the future.
  6. There are no plans to replace the AI F-14 at this time.
  7. This is a nice one. Nice shot Rattler.
  8. Well, I have created our first varient off the FA-18F aircraft. The FA-18F Tanker. This model has been placed over the IL-78M tanker AI plane. I have also lined up the basket to now hook up to our right side fuel probes on both the FA-18F and the F-14D. This plane has a 380 gal. centerline tank and 4-480 gal. tanks. This new mod works very well and looks very cool.
  9. Clarification....The spoilers are coming up slightly as the flaps are full down for improved roll control. I have seen Tomcat pictures showing this and many may have sen this looking out the window in passenger jets. You can see the spoilers popping up and down for roll control at slower speeds. No ailerons is correct.
  10. Nope Eric. No speed brake on the FA-18F. It was just a texture and it will not operate. The braking is done by hanging out all the surfaces on this bad boy.
  11. The length and the quality of the burner flames have been revised and corrected. They are a bit shorter now. Pic to follow...........
  12. Looks like Sir Troooper has the weapons placed on the beta version. Great job!
  13. Well I have finished up the model of the F-14D and it is ready for our VNAO Beta testing team to put her through her paces.:pilotfly: Here are a few first flight shots from this morning. (Had the graphics turned down a bit but I am sure you will be seeing some better quality shots very soon indeed.
  14. Well lets just say every single piece of the model needs to be touched and worked with to get the polys down and alot of of the higher poly small stuff is getting redone from scratch.
  15. Ah that would be an afirmative.
  16. Export in what format which retains the animations and texture mapping?:helpsmilie: Plus this assumes you have another version of the Max program somewhere.
  17. I have also just upgraded to 3Ds 2008 myself. And of course, none of animation nor the LOM tools will work. I think this is becoming a bigger and bigger issue as people get into this and Autodesk does not offer older versions for purchase once a new version comes out. How are we going to get past this isssue? Can someone fill us in on these utilities and how we might be able to possible continue to update them for these later versions of Max?
  18. So far so good. The model of the wing does not have those front slat braces nor does it have any spoilers. Just the texture so I will need to cut them out and build some bays for them.
  19. Man I HATE it when they say that.
  20. Eric is correct about replacing the Kuz with a new US carrier model. Hmmm... I find it interesting though that if you pull the Kuz into modelviewer the elevators will move with an argument selection. Why would it be mapped to do so if it never moves in the simulation. :book:
  21. Being that I see the elevators have an argument assigned to them, can someone fill me in on what tells the simulation to move the elevators on the Russian carrier. Is it just a matter of taxiing a plane onto it which initiates the program to start moving?
  22. Oh ya.. And I just bought a boat load of stock in Gillette (shaving cream).
  23. Maybe a big 10' logger's chain saw. Believe me, I am under no illusion of what it will take to get these into the game. I alway like a good challange.......
  24. Hey Alfa, Oh for sure they are all 3 very fat with poly's and don't stand a chance in the game without being trimmed down. But have you heard the saying "How do you eat an elephant"? One bite at a time........:smilewink: My main goal here is to trim down and clean them up and lay down the texture maps for Eric to hammer out. The long term goal would be to have all 3 in a single mod. Short term, one plane in at a time.
  25. Trooooooooooper!!! You are the man! These are just what the doctor ordered. Why the heck didn't I think of searching them out that way. Please let me know if you can get any more of them.
