  1. Well, I'm scratching my head here. I rebuilt all files from scratch. Every single one of them. Load the sim up and no change in tree sizes now. I don't get it.
  2. Looking into this right now. It appears that some of the lines in my 90% folder are values that have not changed from originals. Bare with me on this because there are 338 hits for "tree" in the BlockTrees ref file. I have to go through each line manually and ad the value to my chart. This might explain why I was not seeing a significant change in tree sizes in some instances. Best course of action for me is to start from scratch and redo all the files. I should have something ready in a hour or so. Sorry guys, this is a b!$ch of a mod. Miss one line and it's dorked.
  3. It's got to be because the files are not dropping into their folders. Open up the following folders and set the view to "Detail" in the windows tool bar for that folder so that you can see the date of the files that you are getting ready to replace. DCS 2.5\Mods\terrains\Caucasus\Models\BlockTrees Run JSGME and import one of my mod folders. Leaving the folder open above, watch for the date to change on the BlockTrees.ref. If the files dropped and JSGME is working correctly, the date on the new BlockTrees.ref that JSGME drops in the folder will be 2/7/2018 7:13 PM.
  4. I have an idea, use JSGME. Follow the instructions. Screaming it is not working for you when you choose to do it manually and expecting someone to be able to reverse engineer your mistakes is a mighty high expectation. Even more so, demanding I prove it works through pictures because you are bent on doing it your way is an interesting position to take.
  5. As I mentioned last night, I barely noticed any difference between 80% and 90%. 1 -5 feet maybe. Perhaps none at all. Usually the tallest trees were between 150 - 170 feet. The only measure I have is the radar altimeter in the Harrier which is a crude way to measure. It has me wondering is the radar altimeter is off because those trees do not look 170 feet tall. Try 80% if you are experiencing any artifacts. There's not much difference between 80% and 90%, if any.
  6. Here's a few more screens at 90% reduction. I think scale is much better than default. The shots of the aircraft at altitude are 2500 ft. and 1500 ft respectively. Note that the power lines are above the trees now as they should be.
  7. For those that wanted a few screens. here's what it looks like at 90% reduction.
  8. Your suspicion is correct. It also added artifacts to the screen. It was a no go. Oddly enough, the more I reduced, the smaller the change. There may be a 5 foot different in tree height between 70% and 90% reductions, if that. The good news is, it's working and it's close enough to being realistic As a side, that'll be the last time I do a mod and try to release it when i have to go to work the following morning. Missed a few things. I apologize to everyone for the unnecessary aggravation. Here's a copy of the fixed version: DCS 2.5 Trees Size Fix v1.2.zip Let me know how it goes.
  9. Don't kill yourself trying to figure it out. I'm doing a test at 99% reduction to see what the results are and will release it. Should be another 30 minutes. It's strange, you would think a 90% reduction would be, well a 90% reduction, But I've got trees that are 150 ft tall according to the radar altimeter. Trying 99% to see if I can get them to 120 ft. and we'll be golden. Be right back with the finished mod in a few folks.
  10. ^This! That's why I deleted it from the thread.
  11. You do it the hard way.
  12. Working on it. Found the reason for the failure to load issues beyond 40%. All "New Value" entries up to 40% have two digits before the decimal. At 50%, one of the "New Values" was 8.93195. I added a zero in front of the 8 and changed it to 08.93195. The sim now loads. I'm trying to figure out if the sim is respecting that entry at the moment. Stay tuned.
  13. Well, I figured out why there were lockups beyond 40% for some and not me. I had the folder structure named wrong in my mod. Caucasus folders were misspelled in all instances The files weren't loading. So I too am now locking up at anything higher than 40%. I'm going to delete my previous mod from this thread and look into seeing if there is anything I can do to correct the lockups. Might be a hard limit. That explains a lot. Why the re-scale wasn't loading for some at all and the lock-ups.
  14. For those that are having issues using the higher level reduced trees, here's a snapshot of my in-game config. I'm running Reshade 3.1.1 With HDR, Active Sharpening and FXAA enabled. In nVidia Inspector, I have set my AA to 2xSS and to override application settings. In-game, as you can see, MSAA off and AF off. It is worth noting that I have not experienced this when using in-game settings only, prior to my using Reshade. The IT tech in me thinks video card limitations or drivers. You're now asking much more of your GPU with the increased number of trees. Geometry is geometry no matter the scale as far as the GPU is concerned. Other than that, I cannot think of what else might be the cause.
  15. Hmmm. Not sure what the issue might be there. How much RAM on your video card? I'll post a pic of my in-game config. Perhaps you can configure your options as mine are to eliminate any config issues. That's a long shot, but I'm not sure what to tell you since I'm not experiencing the issue.
  16. I'm not sure. I have not tried to join a multi-player game yet. Still getting used to the sim. Took a hard right turn with this mod because the lack of speed was really bugging me.
  17. Verify that the folders in my mod: Trees - Default Trees - Smaller -30 Trees - Smaller -40 Trees - Smaller -50 Trees - Smaller -60 Trees - Smaller -70 Trees - Smaller -80 are in the JSGME mod folder specified in your JSGME.ini file. This file should be in the root of your DCS folder along with JSGME.exe. In my case, I have a folder called 0 Mods where I put all of my JSGME mods. My JSGME.ini points to this. See below. [MODS FOLDER] Name=0 Mods [JSGME DETAILS] FullPath=D:\DCS 2.5\JSGME.exe [FORM SIZE] Main Height=737 Main Left=1447 Main Top=526 Main Width=676 Main WindowState=0 Next, just double-click JSGME.exe in the root of your DCS folder (where it should be if you set it up properly) and select one of the tree mod folders. Click the right arrow to move that folder into the sim. Just click one of the tree mod folders, as trying to import more that one will only result in warnings asking you to overwrite.
  18. The only thing I can think of is that it looks like it loads more trees to a certain point. I went from 49 FPS to about 42 at 80%. Perhaps some tweaking of options is needed. I'm running Reshade with FXAA enabled. AF and AA in game are off and I set FXAA allowed and 2XSS in nVidia Inspector. What's your frame rate looking like?
  19. What is IC compliant? As far as screens, perhaps someone else can. I don't have enough hosted space to fill it up with screens.
  20. I agree. Just a tad slow. I thought about going to 90% but at 80% I noticed some openings in the forests, so stopped there. Looks like I hit the threshold for tree placement. I suspect going below 80% will be very noticeable. I can try 90 and 95. Theoretically, at that percentage, the trees should be shrubs, but I don't believe the sim is rendering at the full percentage reductions.
  21. I do enough of that kind of stuff at work. It's a simple mod and not worth that level of effort in my eyes.
  22. Not here but I'm running on a box with 64GB of RAM.
  23. Hey gents, see this thread. The issue is the size of the trees. They are waaaaaaay too big on the Caucasus map. I've created a mod that reduces the tree sizes to great effect. Speed an altitude are on point with the mod. You can choose between 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, and 80 percent reductions with the mod. I use the 80% reduction as it looks about perfect in terms of scale. JSGME ready. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3385793#post3385793
  24. Ok Fellas, Here's the final product. 80% looks to be about right. Any further and I think the trees will start to show too much terrain in the forests. It does look great and perception of speed and altitude has increased significantly. Enjoy:thumbup: JSGME Ready. You can download it here. UPDATE: Deleted due to bad folder structure in the download. Will be posting an updated version later in this thread. There are folders for 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, and 80 percent. Choose which you want to use. Only use one folder at a time when loading the mod in JSGME.
