  1. TurboRUSH US Red: F-15C Blue: Mirage
  2. I have to cancel as well not due to lack of interest. Have to do some traveling this weekend.
  3. TurboRUSH Lonewolf USA M2000
  4. TurboRUSH Lonewolf USA F-15C
  5. Hello Decoy. Have you e-mailed the mission files and briefing yet? I checked the first post and don't see any link either. Cheers mate.
  6. TurboRUSH - The Mighty F-5
  7. Please combine myself, Coxy, Yaga, and Ritt into one team of lonewolves. Thanks.
  8. Will there be a mission file posted for us to practice with? Thanks for organizing this tournament!
  9. Finished watching the replay. From spectator POV, it was very entertaining. Excellent and engaging commentary by Hook & Manawar as always. Some very good battles with memorable moments by Croncat, MicroVAX, Pyro, WD1, Stuge and the SF guys. Had me on the edge of my seat at the end when the M2000 guys made a last push against Red. As a previous blue pilot, I was crushed to see the blue Mirages get shot down one-by-one at the end. They put up a valiant fight! I really like the SARH only format with AWACS. I hope this will be offered again for RF NTTR.
  10. Callsign : TurboRUSH Nationality : American Squadron name : None Squadron website : None I'll try to round up lonewolves to form a 4 ship.
  11. Unfortunately, I can't make it today for many reasons. Please give my slot to a reserve pilot. @MicroVAX, viel glueck mit unternehmen Projekt X! @Veritech, make the M2000 drivers proud!
  12. Guys, I will not be able to participate today. I'm late gettting home due to flight delays. I waa really looking forward to this :(
  13. I’m fine with Gunzo only. It’ll be a little more challenging for the F-5 considering the Mig’s energy advantage but then again the F-5 has some advantages as well. Can’t wait for the Top Gun F-14 vs. Mig-28 match lol
  14. MicroVAX, congratulations on getting the 1st kill with a M2000 in Red Flag. You inspire me to fly Mirage at the next modern Red Flag. Cheers.
  15. I too caught the last few minutes of the strean and I was very impressed with IronMike and Manawar's comnentary. It's unfortunate that there is no replay. Anyways, there seems to be great momentum with Red Flag. Great participation and tighter competition.
  16. TurboRUSH - F-5!
  17. Another awesome Red Flag! Looking forward to watching the stream. Thanks to 104th again for hosting this event and special mention should go to Bushmanni who put together an excellent plan and acted as the "General." Definitely corrected many of the lessons learned from 1st Red Flag.
  18. TurboRUSH Lonewolf USA F-15C
  19. Hey Flankerator, This is going to be awesome event! The merit based participation is a great idea. Sadly, I won't be back home until next Wednesday so I highly doubt I will be able to make any impression on the Burning Skies server stats. I'll definitely watch the stream ! S!
  20. @microvax No I didn't mean you when I mentioned "Kamikaze" earlier. What I meant was that in future Red Flags, that no Mirage pilot decides to go for the first Mirage air-to-air kill by charging off on their own to recklessly to get a kill. We see enough of that on public servers with people flying into SAMS chasing down an extending bandit. I thought your plan was bold and obviously paid a lot of attention to the details. S!
  21. Thanks for confirming Sweep. Hope you'll be at the next Red Flag.
  22. I seem to be able to detect F-15s and SU-27s from much further away (~60nm) versus the Mirage (35-45nm) in a look-down situation. Also look-up vs. look-down seems to yield longer detection ranges. These are just rough observations and not based on any scientific study on my part so I could be imagining things. If anybody knows for certain, please let us know. I play DCS sporadically so my observations may be obsolete due to updates and changes that I am unaware of. I won’t be able to fly DCS again until middle of next week due to work/life schedule. @KEULE, I don’t hit anyone. I only shoot missiles and fire guns  I hope you fly in the next Red Flag. We need to get a Mirage group together and practice Mirage tactics. The fun thing about what I hope is going to be a monthly Red Flag series is that we can develop new tactics and strategies each round based on lessons learned. Anyways, I have a strategy for a future Red Flag :weight_lift:
  23. Here are my observations on DCS Red Flag: 1.) BVR: The primary focus of the DCS Red Flag events should be BVR. It is modern air combat. One of the objectives is to NOT get into a WVR battle where it becomes a crap shoot. When I was a DCS noob back in 2014 (I still am), my perception was that BVR is easy and that missiles do all the work. A “launch authorized” = kill. Having participated in these online events for two years now, I know that is so far from the truth. You still need to maneuver, manage energy states, use the element of surprise and coordinate with your team. 2.) Alternate events: The heaters/SARH only events should be a diversion here and there but the focus of Red Flag should be BVR combat. Furballs are great for Hollywood and maybe for the Twitch viewers. 3.) Spamraaming: During our pre-match briefing we did briefly discuss fire discipline. Unfortunately, not everyone was present during the briefing. Take shots when there is a high probability of a kill or use only a single missile for defensive shots. I’m sure some fired from long ranges or fired off a massive salvo due to nervousness or confusion. If a pilot wants to fire off 8 AMRAAMS and then RTB hoping one of those missiles hits something, then let it be. It doesn’t do them any favors. Fire discipline will definitely be emphasized during the next round. I’m against capping the total # of missiles in the event. I’m not sure if there is a good way to enforce it. If anything, I would just have a gentlemen’s agreement that everybody carry no more than X AMRAAMS per each loadout. 4.) In regards to the Mirage: I know there are many good Mirage pilots who put up impressive kills on the public servers and that may leave an impression that the Mirage may have a chance against F-15 or Su-27 head on. In Blue Flag, the Mirages certainly did stand out due to the weapons restrictions. The reality is that with equally skilled pilots in coordinated teams, the Mirage is going to have far more of a challenge. I don’t know if any Mirage pilots were even able to get a missile off the rack. Based on recent Red Flag, the Mirages need to fly together and use the F-15s as a screen. Utilize their smaller RCS and excellent dash speed for hit and runs from the flanks or only engage if they have numerical superiority. I’m thinking of flying the Mirage in the February Red Flag since most of the pilots I flew with were in the Mirage. Maybe have a prize or special recognition for the first Mirage pilot to score an air-to-air kill in Red Flag AND survive the match (to prevent Kamikazes :) ). 5.) Strategy: Flame’s strategy was excellent. That’s the reason why the challengers were able to establish a moment of air superiority to allow the strikers to do their excellent work. We had some hiccups but with over 30+ aircraft trying to coordinate with very little prior practice, there were bound to be problems but a good strategy succeeds even if things don’t go exactly to plan. There is a very famous saying by Helmut Von Moltke about plans and contact… Looking forward to the next Red Flag!
