  1. Finally got it all done. The needed buttons are all assigned as I want them. Attaching the lua file here (and in fresh post) for whoever wants it. Feel free to modify as you wish. Thanks to aeliusg ! Enjoy. Throttle - HOTAS Warthog {F4B41430-2DF4-11e4-8001-444553540000}.diff.lua
  2. Hi aeliusg, Thanks for that. Before getting your reply I did managed to get it to work, but with only the Safe and Armed positions, leaving out the Switch's Alt position. Not with PC now and can't recall what I did. I just played about with the "1" and "-1" values to get that. Will take another look and try out yours and see how it goes. Thanks again. Yep, let's hope the next update won't affect the lua. Only wish TM and/or DCS could make the controllers' setup a breeze for everybody. Mastering a DCS aircraft is in itself already a Huge challenge, and I'm sure most would rather spend time flying than configuring. But I must say there is satisfaction though when things work out :megalol:.
  3. Thanks everyone for your great patient. Finally beginning to grasp it -- managed to get it to work finally! Now I tried assigning the LASTE switch to the Off/Safe/Armed functions but using the same magic didn't seem to work :- ["d3020pnilu3020cd9vd1vpnilvu0"] = { ["added"] = { [1] = { ["key"] = "JOY_BTN27", }, }, ["name"] = "Armament Off/Safe/Armed Up", }, ["d3020pnilu3020cd9vd-1vpnilvu0"] = { ["added"] = { [1] = { ["key"] = "JOY_BTN28", }, }, ["name"] = "Armament Off/Safe/Armed Down", }, Any idea how I could get the codes right here? This switch should start at the bottom most position, which is Off, then Safe, then Armed. But just couldn't get it right. Btw, I replaced the original data.lua file as advised. Will this affect other stuff? Also, when DCS has a new patch, will this get affected? Thanks. Edit -- Noticed in the Option setting, a double-entry was created for those switches under editing, and the hotkey once assigned couldn't be Cleared off. Is it possible to delete away the duplicate entry?
  4. Thanks aeliusg. I cut and paste the codes you gave above into my lua but suddently the pinky switch does not work at all. Strange. Btw, what's the difference between "vu0" and "vunil"?
  5. My apology once again, I think I got mixed up big time after staring at all those codes. It is the right switch we are talking after all ... Here's the lua part I'm looking at :- ["keyDiffs"] = { ["d3002pnilunilcd7vd-1vpnilvunil"] = { ["added"] = { [1] = { ["key"] = "JOY_BTN13", }, }, ["name"] = "Nav Lights Flash", }, ["d3002pnilunilcd7vd1vpnilvunil"] = { ["added"] = { [1] = { ["key"] = "JOY_BTN14", }, }, ["name"] = "Nav Lights Steady", }, How may I insert such that I can command for an OFF when this toggle switch is returned to middle position? This is what I hope to do. Thanks.
  6. Thanks aeliusg. I'm editing from the diff.lua file. As shown in my Edit in previous post, the switch I refer to is actually the 3-way toggle switch, not the red button. What I want is to be able to let the toggle-forward to be Light-Steady, toggle-backward to be Light-Flash, and toggle-middle to be OFF. So far I see only value assignment for Up or Down, is there one for Middle? Thanks.
  7. Thanks for all the help folks. Still struggling to grapple with all these ... Assigning Up or Down functions is understandable, but the centre position returns NO key press and I just wonder how to assign centre position such that it commands an OFF function. Edit : Just to be sure, the throttle pinky I refer to is the 3-way toggle switch at the left-most part of the left throttle, not the red color button on it. Sorry if I got this mixed up. Thanks.
  8. Gosh this is all looking like some alien language from another galaxy ... Surprise that TM couldn't give a more user-friendly way of allowing switches to be mapped to a game's controls without going into programming level. If anyone could help with giving an example of how to edit an existing diff.lua file such that (for example), to configure the throttle's pinky to become the nav light switch states (Flash-Off-Steady), that would be awesome. Still trying to grip with what those 1 or -1 stands for, among other stuff.
  9. I use TM Warthog throttle and a TM16000 stick for flying the Huey and wonder what is the most convenient way of configuring for example a 3-way switch to mirror a virtual 3-way switch in the Huey (example the Nav light Steady-Off-Flash). Right now I can only get the throttle's 3-way pinky to simulate only 2 states - Flash or Steady, as the centre position doesn't send any keypress to the sim therefore does not command to Off switch. I am not sure about using lua file or programming in it. Is there an easier work-around? Any good download of ready lua file for the Huey (just the Warthog throttle side)? Any help appreciated.
  10. I only overclocked the cpu not the gpu. And I thought OC cpu is supposed to help. Didn't know it could be an issue.
  11. Okay will give it a try. Thanks.
  12. Thanks there. Will give some of the suggestion here a try. I did try though turning off pagefile but didn't seem to help much. Also tried setting minimum to 1000 and max to 2000, and the result seemed the same. And I thought with my config I should have no problem having smooth play throughout instead of the occasional micro-stutter. But I must say in between those stutters, my frame rate is generally very smooth. Currently no plan on switching to SSD though.
  13. Thanks there. I read up on disabling pagefiling and see there is much against doing so, something about making system unstable. Is it so? I'll certainly give it a try though. As for Norton, there is a mode that keeps it to a minimum when other full-window apps are running. So I think having Norton should be okay. Thanks.
  14. I guess I'll stay with Huey and Ka-50 for now. These two alone are demanding enough in the learning curve!! Maybe later for the Mi-8.
  15. Thanks a lot folks. My PC has quite nice amount of RAM -- 16 Gb. Is that enough for DCS? It is an ASUS ROG, an I7 with OC to 4 Ghz I think. By right such config shouldn't encounter much stuttering (not that there are much, only occasionally). Not much else on PC, mostly flight sim stuff. Using Norton IS. Thing is during those brief pauses, I could sometimes actually hear the hard disk reading something. With 16 Gb RAM, by right everything should have been pre-load into the RAM, no? Hope to get the right deserving juice out of my PC.
  16. Hmmm, more new things to learn. I'm currently not on my PC. So far I've only tried flying in the Free Flight mission. Is that one considered to have FD on or off I wonder? And I assume in that mission the autopilot is actually "semi-auto" on? Still trying to get a grip with this trim thingy.
  17. Okay will give it a try. Thanks.
  18. I already own the Ka-50 and Huey and am thinking of getting the Mi-8 too. Is there an English version cockpit in-game, like in the Ka-50? Is it easier to fly than the Huey, which can be a handful to handle at times? Is the documentation good, and is it in English? Thanks.
  19. Generally DCS World with A-10 and Ka-50 runs fine and smooth for me on my PC, but there are occasional slight pauses / stuttering, like when it seems there is some reading going on in the hard disk, especially during target hits, etc. Would disk defrag help much here? Should I invest in a disk defrag utility? Years ago I used O&O for my FSX. Is O&O a good defrag program? Any other highly recommended ones? Thanks.
  20. I'm thinking it would be nice to create a strike mission with the A10 first moving in to theatre to take out long range threats such as SAM sites, and then follow up with flying the Ka-50 to go in and mop up less threatening assets such as tanks / trucks, etc. In other words, to play within the same theatre mission but using different assets like the A10 and then the Ka. Any idea how that could be done? No experience in complex mission creation other than simple, single platform, one-off mission creation. Thanks.
  21. I know this topic has been discussed much and I think I understand the procedure needed. However, for me the issue is with the almost instantaneous input feed BEFORE I have time to fully return the stick and rudder to centre the moment the trim button is pressed and released, causing sudden unexpected flight movement. Have not encountered any such issue with the Huey. The trim delay timing for the Huey seems more reasonably set and there is enough time to allow for stick return to centre, thus not causing any unexpected result. Hope to hear some input on this. Thanks.
  22. Okay will try it out. Thanks.
  23. In the Ka-50, I tried assigning my rudder pedal toe-brakes axes to the wheel brake (W) but don't seem to notice any braking effect in the sim. Anyone encountered this issue before, or is the assignment incorrect? Appreciate any help.
  24. Nice to have slip/skip indicator there. Wonder why multiple blades instead of just one blade, which may do the job. Thanks anyway.
  25. Noticed the is a "windmill-like" device attached to the tip of the nose, that occasionally rotates a little. Wonder what that is for? Couldn't find anything mentioned in the manual.
