Just updated DCS as well as latest Nvidia driver and now the game started crashing while trying to watch playback after a short flight in the Ka. Was okay before these updates. Any idea what could be the issue?

I think you folks are spot on ... ran a latest Nvidia driver update and the program seems to run fine now. Hope it stays that way. This forum is lucky to have you dedicated fellows around. Thanks a bunch !

Getting very annoying, makes me miss the good old FSX where I came from. Got a ton of payware add-ons there, A2A, Dodosim, FTX, ... gosh should I go back, or stick with DCS, which I've come to like so much. Still thinking of buying the Mi-8. But with those crashes (never happened before for the 2 - 3 years I've been flying the A-10C), it's getting very frustrating.

Here they are, zip in folder. Kindly help check. Now the crashes are getting worse, sometimes less than a minute into game. Can happen at any point, any moment. Done repairs, but no help. Ttt.zip

Trying to upload one .crash and another .dmp files but could not. Are these the right files?

Thanks BitMaster. Will post some logs when available.

Agree that recon / search hunting work can be a load of satisfaction. Would be nice to be able to insert elements randomly into a specific map area. Less scripted and predictable that way = more surprises and fun. Would love to know how to create such randomness.

Of late I've been occasionally getting program crash (either mid-flight or when ending flight), with program restarting on its own, with the error message "Cannot open debriefing file". Ran the Repair option and it would seem to fix the issue for sometime, only to occasionally coming back again. Any idea what could be the cause? Any fix, especially about the opening of debriefing file?

I'm not sure if the issue I raised is fully understood, but I'm going to test if the issue could be that when the Shkval is uncage when the Ka is pointing high in the sky, the map cursor tends to be positioned way off away to far part of map, resulting in mis-match in position between sight reticle on HUD and map cursor. Maybe going to lower altitude and uncaging only when nose pointed towards ground may help synchronise the position of targeted point.
-
Anyone noticed the Shkval Targeting sight as seen through HUD does not seem to always tally with the cursor position as shown on the map display of the ABRIS (with connecting yellow line from Ka)? When it does not match up, usually the map's cursor would be further away than where the target sight actually is resting on as seen through the HUD. This posed a problem when snapping to a captured target point in memory, as it would move the sight to a wrong location. Looks like it is a bug.

$15 -- that's a huge diff. Any idea how often they run the sales, and when is the next one?

Successful-online translator of Russian Russian Mi8 manual
Avio replied to Tempest's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Just looked through the translated manual. Pretty impressive I must say! One big less excuse now not to get the Mi-8! -
Been thinking of getting the Mi-8 for a while now. Any major annoying issues still not resolved in this Beta? By the way, does this Mi-8 (and the Huey also) simulates the additional load when picking up troops? And when will the next promotional sales be for this? How much is the discounted price by the way?
-
Been flying the Ka-50 more than the Huey and loving it. However, unlike the Huey, the Ka doesn't do troops pickup or evac, etc. The Ka is an attack helo, and it's nice to play Search & Destroy missions. But I wonder what are the more realistic and fun ways of flying the Ka. Not a lot of time for long, complex missions. So usually I create mini adhoc missions like placing some moving tanks and AAA randomly moving across towns. It's fun and challenging trying to take down these from a stand-off distance. There was once when my first Vikhr missed a tank, and it promptly moved away and hid behind a building. But about one third of it was exposed at the corner of the building, and I painted a laser spot on the exposed part and sent a second Vikhr that managed to hit it !!! That was fun, but I would like to know anyone has got any other interesting and realistic mission ideas for the Ka.

Devrim, that was one awesome cockpit mod there! I know there is another mod that shows the Laser temp on the HUD. Is it possible to include this one feature into this cockpit mod?
-
Thanks fellow. F11 is pretty much what I'm looking for. Airshow flypast has never looked so good ... !
-
Anyone knows of a good external viewing utility or mod? Would love to fix a desired spot on the ground as the observer. This would allow for nice fly-by viewing like that of watching an airshow. Better still is to be able to dynamically switch from any desired ground spot to any other desired ground spot. Gives true meaning to "Plane-Spotting" :pilotfly:.

Thanks Robin. Will test out converting the seconds to fractional decimal and see if it points correctly.
-
When entering coordinates into the Nav panel, it seems the coordinates' "seconds" could only be entered for one digit instead of two. Degrees and minutes can take 2 digits though. The "missing" last digit of the seconds results in areas marked that can be quite far off from where they were intended to be. Is this supposed to be this way?

Thanks Flagrum. Will check to see which is which again for next flight.

Whenever a steep hard turn is made, a tone sounding like that of a stall warning would come on. What does that mean?
-
Yes the repair works ! Thanks a bunch. Hope the fix stays.

Thanks for that helpful note.

Relooking at BitMaster's reply "( for long travel best between 1000 - 2000m )", how does one still maintain sight of the targets within the HUD when at such high altitude? Whenever I tried going any higher than a few hundred metres, the targets would all start disappearing below the nose of the Ka. Doing all these while in a auto hover state, thus nose is level. Because of that, shots have to be taken from only a couple of hundred metres. Is that the reason why the Vikhr could only launch when within 6 km? Would be nice to be able to launch from further off.

Have been running fine until today when sessions started crashing to desktop (or crashing but reloading back into game) when ending game or when trying to watch track. Game played fine though when flying. Something about Launcher.exe application error. Or it would say "Cannot open debriefing file". Should I run a repair? And how could that be done? Hope to get help. Thanks.
