I only overclocked the cpu not the gpu. And I thought OC cpu is supposed to help. Didn't know it could be an issue.

Okay will give it a try. Thanks.

Thanks there. Will give some of the suggestion here a try. I did try though turning off pagefile but didn't seem to help much. Also tried setting minimum to 1000 and max to 2000, and the result seemed the same. And I thought with my config I should have no problem having smooth play throughout instead of the occasional micro-stutter. But I must say in between those stutters, my frame rate is generally very smooth. Currently no plan on switching to SSD though.

Thanks there. I read up on disabling pagefiling and see there is much against doing so, something about making system unstable. Is it so? I'll certainly give it a try though. As for Norton, there is a mode that keeps it to a minimum when other full-window apps are running. So I think having Norton should be okay. Thanks.

I guess I'll stay with Huey and Ka-50 for now. These two alone are demanding enough in the learning curve!! Maybe later for the Mi-8.

Thanks a lot folks. My PC has quite nice amount of RAM -- 16 Gb. Is that enough for DCS? It is an ASUS ROG, an I7 with OC to 4 Ghz I think. By right such config shouldn't encounter much stuttering (not that there are much, only occasionally). Not much else on PC, mostly flight sim stuff. Using Norton IS. Thing is during those brief pauses, I could sometimes actually hear the hard disk reading something. With 16 Gb RAM, by right everything should have been pre-load into the RAM, no? Hope to get the right deserving juice out of my PC.

Hmmm, more new things to learn. I'm currently not on my PC. So far I've only tried flying in the Free Flight mission. Is that one considered to have FD on or off I wonder? And I assume in that mission the autopilot is actually "semi-auto" on? Still trying to get a grip with this trim thingy.

Okay will give it a try. Thanks.

I already own the Ka-50 and Huey and am thinking of getting the Mi-8 too. Is there an English version cockpit in-game, like in the Ka-50? Is it easier to fly than the Huey, which can be a handful to handle at times? Is the documentation good, and is it in English? Thanks.

Generally DCS World with A-10 and Ka-50 runs fine and smooth for me on my PC, but there are occasional slight pauses / stuttering, like when it seems there is some reading going on in the hard disk, especially during target hits, etc. Would disk defrag help much here? Should I invest in a disk defrag utility? Years ago I used O&O for my FSX. Is O&O a good defrag program? Any other highly recommended ones? Thanks.

I'm thinking it would be nice to create a strike mission with the A10 first moving in to theatre to take out long range threats such as SAM sites, and then follow up with flying the Ka-50 to go in and mop up less threatening assets such as tanks / trucks, etc. In other words, to play within the same theatre mission but using different assets like the A10 and then the Ka. Any idea how that could be done? No experience in complex mission creation other than simple, single platform, one-off mission creation. Thanks.

I know this topic has been discussed much and I think I understand the procedure needed. However, for me the issue is with the almost instantaneous input feed BEFORE I have time to fully return the stick and rudder to centre the moment the trim button is pressed and released, causing sudden unexpected flight movement. Have not encountered any such issue with the Huey. The trim delay timing for the Huey seems more reasonably set and there is enough time to allow for stick return to centre, thus not causing any unexpected result. Hope to hear some input on this. Thanks.

Okay will try it out. Thanks.

In the Ka-50, I tried assigning my rudder pedal toe-brakes axes to the wheel brake (W) but don't seem to notice any braking effect in the sim. Anyone encountered this issue before, or is the assignment incorrect? Appreciate any help.

Nice to have slip/skip indicator there. Wonder why multiple blades instead of just one blade, which may do the job. Thanks anyway.

Noticed the is a "windmill-like" device attached to the tip of the nose, that occasionally rotates a little. Wonder what that is for? Couldn't find anything mentioned in the manual.
-
Okay will try that out. Thanks for the heads-up. Avio

Just bought the awesome Huey and saw in manual a United Nations UN Livery model but not sure how can that be loaded up. Tried creating a mission but there is only selection of models by countries. No option for UN. Hope someone could help point the way. Thanks. Avio

Thanks for the input Rodd. I have mine set to 25% and the control feels pretty good.

Also noticed the both Stall warning volume knobs rotate all round with no stops, and the volume seems unaffected by whatever setting of the knobs. In another case, making requests to ATC such as engine start and takeoff didn't hear back any response from ATC. Was there supposed to be a response, or it's the volume knob issue?

You're right Tom. That was what I meant. Strange that yours is okay. For me, I have to assign left one to right, and vice-versa. No problem at all with the A-10C though. Wonder what could be the issue. Avio

Using a default joystick curve setting (straight line with zero percent), I find the F-86 to be very unstable and difficult to fly precisely. However, after setting the curves to 25% it becomes a lot easier to manage. Is 25% setting a good representation of the real F-86 in terms of handling? Avio

Not sure if anyone else observed this -- I have CH pedals and noticed the left and right toe brakes have been reversed in the controller assignment. Hope this gets fixed. Avio

Thanks everyone for your input. Nice to know the F-86 is well modelled. One question is -- if the mentioned wing-flex / damaged under high-G are implemented, then why only have this effect showed up only on the left wing? Would it be more realistic to have it showed up occasionally on the right wing as well (producing a right roll)? Would appreciate if there could be further input. Thanks. Avio

Just bought the F86 and noticed there is an uncommanded left roll after a while of flying. This mission is the freeflight. It started out flying straight for a while, but after some maneuvering around, the plane starts to want to roll to left on its own. My joystick and rudder are all showing correct calibration. In fact, flying the A10C straight and nice is no problem. Similarly all my other sims like F4.0 and FSX all are okay. Hope someone could help shed some light here. Thanks. Avio
