  1. I don't do combat, but only because I'm at the stage where I know how to operate the aircraft, but certainly not well enough to quickly react and recall training in combat situations. I mainly fly helicopters, and flying them correctly and smoothly is a challenge of itself. In future, I want to do more real combat.
  2. Since my question is related, I rather post it in this thread than create a new one: As I understand from the in-game news, I automatically own the new su-27 by owning FC3. But for some reason, my in-game su-27 isn't updated to the latest version (which was released today, right?). It still has the old cockpit with the pilot model and unclickable buttons. Is there something I'm not understanding correctly?
  3. Yes, I know all of my currently owned aircrafts in and out (Even read the manuals, complete with history lessons!). But, sometimes you don't have time or mood for throwing switches, as fun as it is.
  4. I'm making a typical "playground" mission for myself and friends. This is not a huge issue, but just for aesthetic purposes, I want all of my aircraft collection to be visible in the world when I select one of them (Each one is marked "Client" in the editor skill level). A follow up question: Since I have two of each, both hot and cold start, is it possible to spawn the hot start vehicle cold (When unused by the player), but, when you select to fly it, it magically becomes hot in an instant? I don't want it just running on the ramp, wasting fuel.
  5. Don't confuse throttle with collective. Collective is the angle of the blades, and it's what you constantly need to adjust, this is what gives you more or less lift. Throttle on an aircraft adjusts the speed of the rotors, which, ideally, always stays the same.
  6. Got it yesterday, too, and been having a ton of fun. Especially the small details like animated machine gun belt and cetral panel shake. About your ka-50 comment, though. It's objectively easier to fly because of it's dual rotor construction and the fancy autopilot augmentations (don't even need to hold the stick unless you're immediately doing a maneuver). But it tries to kill if you if don't know how to use them correctly. Here's a little article that made me love it again: http://www.simhq.com/_air13/air_429a.html I'm sorry if you already know that, but if I can help at least one more person with that tricky Kamov system, I'm happy.
  9. Well, I flew them in GTA games, if that counts  Since I recorded the track, I find it easier to just depress the trimmer before starting a maneuver, and letting go of it when I'm finished, so it doesn't fight my input during it. The pilot in real video only presses it after the maneuver, but he has a real stick, while I don't even have force feedback. I hope I'm not doing this really wrong, since it feels extremely good, and no more diagonal flying.
  10. У меня купончик остался с trackir, скидка 60% на любой продукт ДКС. Интересно, к самым новым модулям это тоже относится?
  11. Thanks. You have all been extremely helpful, and right about the fact that I didn't realize that the "trim" function is actually "Help me do exactly this until I press you again" button.
  12. Turned out I had some time to do it now. So, here's a track. Trimming after every maneuver really helped with stability, but I wonder if I'm doing something wrong, or is it just lack of practice. Download link: http://puu.sh/anACo/9975464e40.trk
  13. Yes, I use the autopilot stabilization thing. It's just I'm a total zero in heli flight concepts. Imagine you're teaching a level turn to a guy who just got his first flight sim. I will record a track and post it in a few hours.
  14. I used trim only in level flight, so I naturally skipped that thread, thinking that it's not a trim issue. I will give it a read, thank you! edit: I read the article, and got some useful info out of it (Like trimming should be done really often), but still, there's no description of how to turn & exit diagonal flight properly. I'm not mashing my stick in anger, I actually managed to get all of my movements to be extremely fluid and stable, but I still would like to learn how actual pilots do it, not by trial and error.
  15. This is probably the most asked noobie question, but, here it goes: Let's say I want to do a level left turn. I try to do it correctly: Roll to the left, then yaw to the left, roll back to level, then yaw back to level. But I'm new, so I mess it up most of the times, and now my chopper is constantly moving diagonally, 1-2 o'clock, no matter what I do, no matter how I correct it with yaw/roll, it always goes to that diagonal flying pattern. Eventually, I do something, and my chopper begins to fly straight on the intended course. It bugs me that I don't know exactly what I did to fix it. Can somebody point me, once and for all, to an article/tutorial/post that explains the exact procedure of turning, and recovering from diagonal flight? I've been flying airplanes for years in sims, but never touched a helicopter until two days ago.
  16. -snip- found the answer on my own.
  17. Whew! After hours of searching, I finally found this in some x-plane manual, to not sound like a complete madman. http://home.earthlink.net/~x-plane/FAQ-Navaids.html I wonder if DCS has such a system implemented, but probably not, since I did not receive an ILS signal when landing from the other end. An unrelated question: Is there a strategy on searching the area with TGP for targets? A big area, like the enemy front in an automatically generated mission. My AI wingman find everyone extremely fast (And I don't know how to ask him to mark it for me, so that would be nice, too), and I just slew the TGP around and lucky to find a single truck or a tank in 5 minutes. Narrow fov is too slow to cover all that territory, and wide fov makes enemies too small to see sometimes. Third question: What are some good guides on defending against fighters like mig 29? I learned most of the A-10 systems, but I'm a complete zero in tactics.
  18. Can I reverse my ILS receiver? I'm sorry, I forgot the actual term, but in some civilian aircraft sims that I played, I could throw a switch, that would reverse my ILS signal input, and make it so I can land on runway 26, using ILS transmitter from runway 08. Again, sorry for a shitty explanation.
  19. Thank you for all the support!
  20. Thank you about the JTAC tips. And to your previous post: Yes, I checked it with shift+F10. Maybe I made some novice mistake? Please check these screenshots: http://imgur.com/a/hdZX9 (as you can see, the markpoint is 0.8km away from the actual tank). Is there any cons to just creating an airplane jtac that will circle around at a safe distance?
  21. Thanks, I'll look into it. Do you have a preferred way of placing them so they don't get shot? I recall hearing about a way to make enemies known to JTAC from the start. Some followup questions: I entered L/L coordinates of a stationary target that I got from the F10 map view (when highlighting an object) into my CDU, triple checked them, and created a markpoint. But it was far away from the actual target (500+ meters). What's up with that? And can I set my map view to display UTM coordinates instead?
  22. I have a small problem. Whenever I play an automatically generated mission, my JTAC always says "No further tasking available" message, when there's clearly enemies all over the map.
  23. So far I only flew the Su-25T (getting other modules on a sale), but I reckon these questions are general and not related to the airplane. First, the return/landing autopilot. Is it bad, or is it me not understanding something? Whenever I fly in any flight sim, I like to align myself with the runway at least 10 kilometers away and smoothly land without a hassle. However, if I follow the autopilot, or give him the control, it picks a very dodgy and scary route, so when it automatically turns off, I find myself only a click from the runway, in a sharp bank (that's still to wide), with my trim all over the place, having only seconds to align everything up properly. tl;dr: return/landing autopilot sends me straight to the beginning of the glidepath, instead of easing in into it. It seems that I will have to either manually enter the glidepath, or set up correct return waypoints in the editor. So maybe I just answered that myself just now. Next, during a quick generated mission, when I land to refuel/rearm (or even on the ramp before taxi at the start), ground crews won't listen to me. They do under the same conditions on a user created mission. Pretty easy to change up your gear in the editor before starting, but no way to get some service after I land and want to go back. I guess there's some flag set in the editor that denies me access to services, but can somebody point me to it?
