  1. Depends on outside temp, from my experience. With Outside Air temp being normal (20C) you have around 1000 seconds of laser burn time. You can add seconds to this the colder the Outside Air temp. The hotter the Outside Air temp the shorter the laser burn time. The laser temp shown in the HUD is in kelvins(I believe). You will notice the temp will go up during ranging and guidance, and begin to cool when you turn the laser off. If you are continuously firing the laser, it takes longer for the laser to cool. So from my experience; laser active time, laser cool down time between activations, Outside Air temp, are all determining factors in laser "burnout". I am by no means the DCS laser expert, this is just information based on my experience.
  2. I gave you bad information about the laser temp in the HUD. The file you need to edit is the HUD_SHKVAL_page.lua (found in: DCS World-Mods-aircraft-Ka-50-Cockpit-scripts-HUD). If you have notepad++, remove "--[[" from line 127 & "--]]" from line 137 and save. This will allow you to see the laser temp on the bottom of the HUD, but only visible after you uncage SHKVAL.
  3. Once you uncage your shkval and have it centered on your target, lock your target. Turn your laser on - hit lock again(fires laser) - fire missile - turn laser off after impact.
  4. sign-up sheet for next weeks training sessions. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YO3ewuMWIu0IWhM3S_mzepeiC4lfXlr2CsHGpPSpZlw/edit reaper6
  5. I guess I just never bothered to look...
  6. After years of loving my Black Shark, she would never talked to me. Until this morning! I set outside temperature in ME to 30C and hopped in the cockpit, and I look up and I see 30 on my OAT. I go back into mission editor and set outside temp at -30C.... :pilotfly: Thank you ED :cheer3nc:
  7. Hovering to engage a target depends a lot on the terrain. If there is a city or a hill to mask behind, popup attacks can be used. If it's flat terrain then you're pretty much stuck with continuously moving while engaging targets. If I am using hover to engage, I never shoot more than two Vikhr. The smoke trails give away your position to fast movers. unguided rockets are the "go between" for vikhr and guns, usually 4-5km. They are also "area suppression" weapons, so if your looking to be more precise it's best to shoot them in short burst mode(one from each pod). Reaper6
  8. Here is the checklist I use. If you want it on your kneeboard: DCS World - Scripts - Aircrafts - Common - cockpit - KNEEBOARD - indicator - Custom Checklist2.bmp
  9. Thank you :worthy:
  10. I do have a preflight checklist I have added to my kneeboard, I will post it up here later today. With instructions how to add it to your kneeboard for viewing while in the cockpit. I also have my kneeboard position modified so it comes up directly in front of my ABRIS, which makes it easier if you have multiple monitors. I think every "pilot" has their own way of starting up the Ka50, but it's good to get in the routine of going thru preflight while running our missions. That way everyone is on the same page, and you never leave out a step(crap... I forgot to turn on Master Arm!) Reaper6
  11. I have added a sign up sheet to google docs. If you would like to attend the training please use this sheet to sign up. You do not have to be a "TAW" member for the Ka50 ABRIS training. We would be happy to have you attend the training as out guest. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YO3ewuMWIu0IWhM3S_mzepeiC4lfXlr2CsHGpPSpZlw/edit?usp=sharing Reaper6
  12. New Training times for this Thursday will be; 6pm UTC for the European session, and 8pm Central for the North American session. I would like to thank everyone for their interest, and look forward to working with you. Reaper6
  13. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=49137&highlight=laser+temp I know laser burnout depends a lot on the weather, the colder it is outside the longer it takes for the laser burnout. The best practice is to acquire the target lock, turn laser on, shoot vihker, turn laser off. This usually gives you more laser time. You can also mod the Ka50 device_init.lua to show the laser temp in your HUD. Reaper6
  14. I am thinking of moving these times back an hour for the European event, and an hour forward for the North American event. If you have any suggestions or comments please contact me. This Thursday will be training on the ABRIS for; Procedure to Change ABRIS Settings MENU/OPTION/MAIN Sub-mode MENU/OPTION/PERF Sub-menu MENU/OPTION/SIGNAL Sub-mode MENU/OPTION/CHARTS Sub-mode MENU/CONTROL/MESSAGES Sub-mode MENU/CONTROL/K-041 Sub-mode MENU/CONTROL/DTB Sub-mode (and depending on time) Saving Route Plans to ABRIS Database Again I wish to invite anyone that would like to learn more about the ABRIS. You do not need to be a member of TAW to attend this training. You also do not need to be in multiplayer for the training, you can attend the training in single player if that is your preference. You will however need TeamSpeak. You can contact me at blackshark@taw.net for details. The original times for the training will remain in effect until I receive more feedback. If the times change I will post them on here. Reaper6

  17. KA50 Sling load Fuel truck...
  18. I want to give you a big hug right now! +1
  19. Yeah I was just thinking maybe us black shark pilots could put our heads together and make it happen. In the manual there is a (“ГРУЗ” Sling load button - No function.) and (SL HOOK OPEN Warning Lamp) and (“ТРОС – ОТКЛ” Stabilization of sling load suspension cable - Off switch. No function.). So the switches are in place maybe there is a way to insert the code from the huey or Mi8? Just a thought...
  20. Would be great if there was a mod to perform sling loads in the KA50! Anyone know if there is already a mod out there? There is a button on the collective for sling load and indicator switch on rear panel.
  21. Good group of pilots... Join Up!
