If you want to sit on the Tarmac for 45 minutes...
Reaper6 replied to Reaper6's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Added additional pages on spreadsheet for INU alignment procedures(Fly-over & I-251V), Turbo-Gear Operation, Cover Page, and Weapon load-out Schematic. Reaper6 -
If you are in the air you must use the SPU-9 PTT (R-Alt+\) Reaper6

Updated preflight checklist for kneeboard. Just add these to: DCSWorld/Scripts/Aircrafts/_Common/Cockpit/KNEEBOARD/indicator/CUSTOM Reaper6 -
You can use VNAV function in ABRIS to plan "best" or most efficient climb rates. It uses the performance section values; speed in climb @ 130kmh, speed in descent @ 120kmh, rate of climb @ 5m/s, rate of descent @4m/s. You can change those values as you wish. But VNAV uses those values to tell you (from this point to that point/starting altitude to finish altitude) which climb rate you need, or if you will exceed those values based on the information you have given to VNAV. There is no "desired track" from your first/last position. You start and end at airport/heliport not a waypoint. Once you get to your first waypoint, then you will have a desired track angle to your next waypoint and so on. Reaper6

I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you talking Climb rate, Airspeed, pitch angle? Reaper6

I would like to open this weeks Ka50 training class to non-TAW members. We will be doing a FULL system start-up, and systems tests-trouble shooting. More than likely this class will run over the 1 hour time, but you will be free to leave early if you wish. I just ask that you arrive 10 minutes prior to the event start time, so that we can start on time. No late arrivals will be admitted. Please signup here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YO3ewuMWIu0IWhM3S_mzepeiC4lfXlr2CsHGpPSpZlw/edit You will need this Checklist for the class: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Qm7E__XWqjn0fqUI9qrrul-dVDF8WkCAaYyEYGUfB_E/edit#gid=2024048813 Please Insert these into your custom kneeboard pages, so you can follow along in the cockpit. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2370096&postcount=14 JUST SOME BASIC RULES FOR THE SESSION: *YOU WILL BE MOVED OUT OF TS CHANNEL IF YOU INTERUPT THE TRAINING SESSION. *YOUR INPUT IS IMPORTANT, AND YOU MAY KNOW CERTAIN FUNCTIONS ALREADY. BUT HOLD YOUR COMMENTS UNTIL THE END OF THE TRAINING. *ACT PROFESSIONAL DURING THE INSTRUCTION *KEEP MICROPHONES ON MUTE, UNTIL YOU HAVE A QUESTION. *NO FOUL LANGUAGE WILL BE TOLERATED *UNDERSTAND THAT MEMBERS HAVE VARYING LEVELS OF EXPERIENCE. SOME MAY HAVE MORE QUESTIONS THAN OTHERS, SO PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL. Hope to see you there! Reaper6

I tried looking thru the lua files, but I really haven't found anything yet. If you are spawning a ship to start on. The default speed is set to 20, and will start at 20 then slow down(regardless if it has a waypoint or not). So just set it at 0, and the ship will not move(unless bad weather). Then you should not move around on the ship. Reaper6

These systems must have power from the GPU(Ground Power Unit) or from the Left/Right AC Generators. If you are supplying them power from AC Gen then your throttle must at least be in "Auto". And your engines must be running. Reaper6

I believe we are talking about the same switch. It is labeled as "NAV" in the cockpit. This switch does control DNS, you will notice when you switch this to on the HSI flags will turn off and the system begins to warm up. Reaper6

PVI always seems to show tower's wind velocity x 0.66?
Reaper6 replied to Rangoon's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I would just leave it as loaded by ME and you should be fine. Reaper6 -
PVI always seems to show tower's wind velocity x 0.66?
Reaper6 replied to Rangoon's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
It seems like that is what it does. I put no wind in the mission editor, then input winds from the left @50 in the PVI. It moves the rocket reticle to the left of the HUD. So I am assuming this is the purpose of this function. Reaper6 -
Question on switch: Mag Heading - Flight Gyro - Manual Heading
Reaper6 replied to Rangoon's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Unfortunately that is correct as far as I can tell. I think by default the switch is in Manual, so I might play around with INU alignment this week and see what I can come up with. Reaper6 -

Reaper6 replied to Rangoon's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
The only other thing I can think of is that it may use this information for your targeting systems. Since the PVI is directly linked to your K041, it may use this information to adjust the HUD reticle for rockets and guns based off the wind speed and direction. Maybe try inputting 60+mph winds in the PVI and see where your rockets land? Reaper6 -
PVI always seems to show tower's wind velocity x 0.66?
Reaper6 replied to Rangoon's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I Just added 6 different dynamic weather systems and flew around. No change to wind dir/spd. So I am assuming it works like ABRIS. The data is entered thru ME. But you can edit values for each waypoint yourself once your in game. So I'm with Raptor, as far as I can tell it's static. Reaper6 -
Random failures and "condition" in Mission Editor

This adjust the probability of a bird strikes when flying at altitude below 200 meters. 100% is the realistic bird strike probability setting. 0% - no birds. 1000% - the bird strike probability multiplier 10 times.

Reaper6 replied to Rangoon's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I believe the PVI gets its measurement from Pitot & HADS (3 wings protruding from pitot). So it wouldn't be an exact measurement, but more of an educated guess by the computer. As for why they are all different, I am guessing that most of it depends on the environment. The tower would be the most accurate being it is not moving around. So you can edit what's in the PVI to what direction and speed the tower is giving you. Reaper6 -
Question on switch: Mag Heading - Flight Gyro - Manual Heading
Reaper6 replied to Rangoon's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I will take a shot at it. This is "supposedly" the switch that would update your INU heading. It doesn't really serve a purpose because there is no INU "drift" for the Ka50. But the options would be; You can either do magnetic heading(Compass), Gyros that spin up when you turn your INU on, or you can just enter the heading yourself. You won't see any gauges change because the second you turn on your INU, it is perfectly aligned for the rest of the helicopters life. Reaper6 -
I just figured if they are making all the WW2 planes, why not a chopper? :) Reaper

I can set it up for the 19-25 of April, if that works for those interested. I will work on a new sign up sheet this week. Reaper6

No problem. I believe the DNS is activated by the "NAV" switch on the right panel near IFF. So its probably a good idea to have this as one of the first switches you turn on. Reaper6
-
I also add INU fix points in my missions, and I believe that is correct when you are flying near them. I tested with and without INU Fix Points, and it only displays on EKRAN when they are in mission. From what I understand, INU alignment is instantaneous(not modeled in DCS). The DNS(Doppler Navigation System) is what takes time to align. This controls readout on the HUD for airspeed, as well as your hover controls. If you do not wait the 3 minutes for this to align, you will not get airspeed readout in HUD. And your autopilot dampers will go haywire if you try to engage hover hold. Reaper6
