  1. A image speaks more clearly than many explanations. That is the problem. Thank you for checking on your force feedback stick . I know that we are not a lot of this devices user but who knows if new force feedback bases will come on the market in the future ? We can dream . It s a subject well discussed on the forum , for me force feedback is a must ! Ihave mine as many other guys for 20 years ! Best regards
  2. Hello , thank you for responding. Lets keep it simple , i fully understand your explanation. With my sidewinder ff2 : the test configuration is : - wing sweep auto - +or- 200ft/min -speed 350 kts / 10 000ft without engaging autopilot , to trim correctly the aircraft in level flight in this exemple the flying stick( sim ) AND my FF2 are trimmed pitch down out of the centered position and naturaly the autopilot wont engaged .. As mentioned before on the A4 before the last update: same problem . AFTER the last update in the a4 the flying stick( in the sim) moves BUT my FF2 physically moves but way less than before when i trim the aircraft so it is not far awayfrom the center position and i am able to engage autopilot. Is it possible to tell the sim to move less the FF2 stick physically for the tomcat while the flying stick ( in the sim ) continues to move normally? I have no knowledge in coding so that is all i can tell . Best regards
  3. Ok what i did to get my 10 -15 fps back . WATER QUALITY was on medium , i reset it to LOW . the new beautiffull water texture is still there so graphically no difference except the waves effect on the shore . TERRAIN SHADOW : off SHADOW : LOW so you can still have shadows from clouds on ground and on the sea . New water definitively has an impact for what i observed ... Hope that this can help . rem : i use VR , nv 2070 i did not try this for the moment : ---go to: Users\[windows user]\AppData\Local\NVIDIA\DXCache and delete all content of \DXCache folder -----
  4. Same fps lost as everyone Wich is problematic in VR ... Did not try to modify Global Illumination yet New water texture as mentioned before are very nice by the way and as a real life pilot very similar to what you can see around 3 or 4 thousand feet . Wait and see ...
  5. hello Walmis , You did the software ( FFB tool )on the pictures by yourself ? That is amazing ! I have no knowelge in programing but is there a way to use this kind of sofware to modify the default spring , damp etc force of my sidewinder force feedback 2 as on windows 10 there is no support anymore fore the sofware side winder game manager 4.0 and even if the force feedback work correctly you can not adjust theses effect before playing dcs or il2 for exemple. if sSIMFFB is used then you loose all of the ingame effects . anyway thanks for your work and i hope you will be able to sell your kits soon !!
  6. Hello , Same issue here with my force feedback , very annoying as it is impossible to engage AP as trimming moves the physical center position of the FFBstick and AP can be engage only near the center . Of course you can use SIMFFB BUT you loose all the great effects at ihgh AOA etc ... Good to know is that the A4 skyhawk free mod had the same problem wich has been fixed since the last update( Beta 5.1), now when you trim up or down the physical position of the FFBstick does not move SO you can engage AP ( as it needs to be centered for it ). If the devs did it for the skyhawk it should be doable ? best regards !
  7. Thank you for answering colyaoap !
  8. Hello everybody , Don t know if someone has the same problem . on the UFC com 1 works perfectly but when i push the com 2 button and sellect the correct frequency the tower doesn t respond . Radio set realistic in option . Thanks by advance .
  10. Hi guys ! Just for information , for those who can afford that there is a new product on the market , ready to plug the warthog or the manngust , powerfull and swiiss made.. ..so certainly not cost effective but when you take account of the time we spend flying on our computer that could be a investment . https://www.brunner-innovation.swiss/product/cls-e-joystick/ For the DIY project i maintain that as there is already an arduino code for a single axe racing wheel working "apparently very well" , taking two arduino micro and assign one axe on each of them separatly and you get your force feedback joystick (Ok the electronic parts i mean ) I can tell you that because i have got two sidewinder ffb 2 and 1 force feedback wheel and i can assign each axe on two of theses device and i have force feedback on each devices .. whrighting a code from scratch is a brave quest , why just use what is already existing and modifiy some of the code ( reduction of the potentiometer maximum course from 360 to 45 for exemple ) . hope not to offend anybody but these are just some thoughts.
  11. Hello again to all FFB freek ;) ! @melalgear honk may i suggest a littlebit crasy idea ... As i and perhaps many don t have the knownledge about coding , would it be possible to send me a preprogramed arduino nano pre-loaded with the code so we would only have to connect the pin to potentiometers and pwm output to a l298 controler ? I can pay via paypal for example a reasonable price and you could get more feedback and share our hardware building. Just a prposition , if you can think about it ;) . Best regards , JP
  12. @MetalGear Honk You "made " a step by step or you "will "cause i have red this thread many time and didn t found it ..if i did miss it can you give me the link please ? my sidewinder force feedback 2 gimball with its motors is wayting for a test flight  Apparently what i managed to do is to upload your .HEX and then goback to a basic blink arduino scetch so ..my arduino is still alive ;) For shure it is a little more difficult than plug , upload and play ..but with a good dummy tutorial .. yes we can ! JP
  13. Hello every boy ! And amazing work crow0827 ! Help is asked ..i am waiting to plug my FF2 gimball and motors + potentiometers + l298 controler on the arduino pro mini to test the code .. After recieving the arduino pro mini + fdti basic breakout , solded together , plugged recognized ..ok. -. Hex (from metalgear monk ) is uploaded in the arduino pro mini with Xloader that tels me every thing has been uploaded. And now... Stupid question but what have i to do now to see this device recocgnized as a basic force feedback joystick in the usb game controler manager ? In the JOYSTICK_Test folder are many files + driver and i don t know what to do ... Other thing :my FDTI appears in device manager as a USB serial port(COM4) but not as an arduino .. If somepne can just give me the differents step to do this as i have no experience in HID , PID etc .. Thx
  14. Hello MetalGear_Honk ! More interested than ever , just waiting to the Arduino pro mini , the l 298 motor controler and all the stuff to test , thx for the firmware update !! I will report asap but this may take some time for me to recieve everything in New-Caledonia ! Conerning the FF2 gimball scan to make a 3 d printable format : some pieces are just a little bit to big to be scan by the guy i know , waiting for another solution . I 'll keep you inform !
  15. ok , -So let s go for an arduino pro -Run Xloader to install your firmware .HEX file -wiring as you explain and test ! no need for button for the test , only forces effect are my concern. However :As you said "We Need a USB capable for obvious reason. Sothe UNO is out of question. And the UNO's Communications MCU is not assessablefor reprogramming (Or not recommended) and it has not enoughMemory to hold the code for FFB. " 1) in this tutorial you must have already look :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7A_fFHfN_c&t=5s The arduino uno is pluged in USB and able to hold code ifor all the force feedback effects on one AXIS with every car game and obviously flight sim. Wouldn t be possible to edit or modiffy Mmos.exe sofware(windows inteface )and the FFB2014.HEX file to had ( with your knowledge ) one axis , i mean in these software everything is already possible to setup and worrking so why not use it as base for your work ? I can send you the Mmos.exe and the FFB2014.hex file as well . There must be many things i am missing . JP
  16. Yes! Many H bridge motor controller available on the market for this project ! Everybody should get the maximum torque he deserve ;) good ! For the gear , shaft high torque geared dc motors or litteraly every thing you may need "servocity" is remarquable too if that may help other people . Your code( pin mapping part) is written for the arduino pro witch has not exactly the same pin mapping as the arduino uno v3 ... Pb : pwm port for exemple are pb3 , pb2, pb1 repectively pin 11,10, 9...and from what i understand we must wright in the code what pins are related to what function musn t we ? 1) Could you please change your code to comply with the arduino uno or have i to buy an arduino pro ? 2) can you realese if possible the .HEX with X and Y axis implemented so we can try it in the sim ? Voila , many asking i know anyway thx a lot for your codding work Metal Gear cause after hours of research on the web i have not be able to find an existing firmware to make arduino recognised as a basic 2 axis USB force feedback device ...
  17. Hi , Good to know that it helped. @metal gear honk 1) is it possible for you to make a little step by step tutorial for how to install your test firmware into arduino as i am a total newb? 2) about the motor driver l298n : whatever the type of dc motors ( exept for stepper ) as long as you have the power supply in range for the motors you don t have to setup anything on the pc ( PWM for exemple ) ?
  18. hello ! have not a lot of time but : first step is ok! The gimball disasembling was very easy , there are not so many parts( as you will see on the pictures) , only one type of screw exept for the metal part and motors wich are "johnson" brend, 38 mm diameter . http://www.johnsonelectric.com/en/product-technology/motion/dc-motors/industry-dc-motors?series=low-voltage-dc-motors The gear redction is quite simple as you will see we need to calculate the max torque/ gear radius to adapte our dc motor for the project , according to the warrthog stick at about 25 cm we should need about 300g/m max torque to get about 2kg at 25 cm ...only aproximations ... so powerfull motors or bigger gears . Now the big interogation: my prosthetic who has a very expensive prosthetic scaner to make CAD apparel told me he was very pleased to scan all the pieces and put them in a 3D printable format but it has a limitation in size ( i think 10/10cm ) wich means not all the pieces may be scanned, but can be drawn perhaps. sorry for the dust , hair but my venerrrable ff2 ...14 years old ;;)i had to explain to him that it was for science ;) @metal gear if you need other pictures of the gimball let me now I keep you inform of the next step. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/922/KuENny.jpg' alt='KuENny.jpg'> [/img]
  19. @MetalGear : "the creation, dissemination and offering to the public of the 3D replica risks to be considered an infringement of the design right, except for a private and non-commercial use, for an experimental use and for citations or education uses." As long as this is private and non comercial puphose or in a protoype convept there is no problem apparently .. And once again all the engenering has alreday be very well done ... If you just need to scale some parts for stronger behaviour for exemple that could be far easy .. I don t say this is the only solution but in therm of reliability and assembling.. I will have a try if i can replicate the ffb2 gimball and will share my experience .
  20. Hi , For the Gimball : as soon as possible i will take my venerable Sidewinder ff2 appart and scan the mechanism , gears to make a 3d printable version . Advantage : 1) after 14 years of punishement mine as not a single lack in the mechanism 2) i think that we can easely putt 2 time more powerfull dc motors without a problem on the mechanism using a hard plastic 3) cost effective method 4) modification easy to do on a 3d plan ( adapt the warthog stick for exemple) 5) the engenering as already be done and well done manu years ago ... Pb : don t know if it is possible to scan every pieces .. In my country .
  21. Thank you again Metal Gear ! Arduino is ordered , your firmware downloaded ! Impatient to have a try . For the ffb effects in dcs i am pretty shure that there are only spring + - ( for speed + - ) for warbird , spring non related with speed for jets , helicopter , shaking for stalling , force trim for helicopter ( wich is spring effect in a certain position ...No friction or damping So spring and shake ( on my force feedback 2 ) . If not all the effect are implemented on your firmware that is not realy a problem for dcs ! For information the only 2 ffb "professionnal " and powerfull force ffedback flying stick "on the market" are one from Brunner ( they make a very good yoke two ) :price about 8000 dollars ;( and the one with a magnet ffb from iris wich is under developpement.. It is definitively important to be able to build our own OSJ at a fraction of the cost ! If you have recomandation for the base mechanism of the stick ( 3d printable plan ) , the hardware needed ( gear or belt ) and the best choice for the Motors in therm of torque and power we can purhapse make a step bu step tutorial for other simmers !
  22. Thank you Metalgear for your lightening . Is your test firmware usable on aurdino ? is it a test or that it make already arduino or other similar cards recognised as a FFB device ? I will have to go back on my venerable force feedback 2 . Electrical question for you guys who seems to have a lot of knowledge ,not related directly to the subject but..: - modding a sidewinder force feedback 2 stick to increase the current in the 2 DC motors seems a little bit tricky according to :http://www.simprojects.nl/ms_siderwinder_ff2_hack.htm Is there a way to just pick up the signals arriving in the terminal DC motors of the ffb2 ( and keep them working ) and i via an amplifier power supplied increase the the current output (ampliefed but the exact same signal )to use stronger DC motors . I don t understand why Roland Van hoy (ffb hacking ) made all this complicated hack instead and if this idea , he certainly have good reasons but perhapse it is possible ?
  23. Hello everybody , Firstable thank you for your work for an OSJ i am searching for a long time now a way to fly with a more powerfull and precise ffb stick . An interesting post for shure ! After reading all the posts i have one "stupid" question : As the lack of joystick ffb firmware is the problem : Why couldn t we build and plug two force feedback devices with arduino ( or another ) , uisng the Mmos as firmware And assign one wheel to the X axis and the other to the Y axis . As the Mmos as a minimum of 90 degres of rotation that could be reduce easely to about 20 degre for flying stick with gear ? For exemple i can plug 2 sidewinder ffb2 and assign one axis from number one and the other from number two in dcs and it work fine . Disadvantage is that you have to build 2 Mmos divice but as we don t need necesseraly powerfull servo motors we could achive the setup with costless DC motors?
  24. Hello AstroEma , Not OZ or NZ but in New -Caledonia ( almost same time) and very motivated for aerobatic training ! You can contact me in mp and perhaps we could try it !
