Let's hope! I was just going to throw some money at it. -

From the 20 minutes I had with it, it's amazing. However, be advised that I did get significant frame rate drops, even with the in-game MFCD's muted. The website said that this was due to increased CPU load and would be greatly reduced with DCS 1.5/2.0. -

Hey, I downloaded UMFCD two days ago. LOVE IT. However, yesterday it stopped working entirely, coincident with the webpage no longer loading up, the program stopped working since it can't seem to authenticate. I was just about to purchase it, too! Is anyone else having this issue? -
I would love to see a few ammunition choices! More realism and more effective fire against a variety of targets would be fantastic, not to mention better hit confirmation.

Logitech G13 Gameboard as OSB's in the A-10.
Zilch replied to Zilch's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks, that seems to be the issue. I went ahead and assigned keystrokes to all 40 OSB's and then used the G13 software to map buttons to those keystrokes. Works great! It just took some time. -
I picked up the G13 to round out my HOTAS setup and reduce the challenge of trying to line up my head tracker and mouse to hit those OSB's and other small or obscured switches. There's also something to be said for the feel of a button that you can find and hit without taking your eyes off of the action. The G13 has a cool program that lets you set your macros how you want them and a bunch of other neat things. Normally, you find the keystroke you want to emulaulate, program the desired key, and the G13 duplicates that input when you strike it. However, the OSB's don't have a default keyboard hotkey within DCS, and while the DCS control input menu is detecting the G13, it isn't recognizing any input when I try to map a function to its buttons. I realize that I could define keystrokes for all 40 OSB's and then point the G13 at those keystrokes , but since that has obvious drawbacks, I'd prefer to have the G13 work like another joystick and just assign each button to an OSB directly. Has anyone done this? Is there a faster way to do this than bind keystrokes for each OSB and then mapping the G13 to those strokes?

I've got something cooking that may meet your needs, except for the cutscenes and open world stuff. This is beyond my mission building capacity. Standby, ok? I wish I could give a release date but life is getting in the way. From what you describe, I think you'd like what I'm working on. It's very story oriented, so you should get a sense of continuity between missions. Characters, too!

It may look strange, but there's precedent:

Jefe...would you say I had a...plethora...of pinatas?
-
I think I have read elsewhere that long, sustained bursts tend to overheat the barrels and ruin the rifling inside. This would require a barrel replacement. Maybe you can test this by also requesting a repair, as well as your re-arm?

Hrm... This may change some things. Is there a known AFAC that can use the WP rockets?
-
Hi, I'm trying to set up a visual-only CAS mission with an OH-58D AFAC. I've got him armed with WP rockets and have the "Designation" set to "WP" in the Advanced Waypoint Action window. Radio comms work fine, but he always says "no mark" during the 9-line and won't actually hit the vehicle in question with a marker. Is there a way to force him to mark the target instead of having the marker appear from a trigger? It would feel a lot more organic and in-world if the AFAC does it, rather than a scripted smoke marker appearing on the target from nowhere due to an unseen trigger. Thanks!

Best looking machine ever made, says me.

I'm sorry if this has been addressed, but my search turned up no results. I've been looking forward to trying out the C-101, and would love to support AvioDev as soon as I can. However, since I'm using the Steam client, I can't purchase it. I expected a 2-week delay before it hit Steam, but here it's been longer than that and I'm wondering if there is a problem, if the C-101 will be on Steam, or if there are no plans to do so. If the C-101 isn't coming to Steam, I guess I'll have to migrate all my stuff over to the stand-alone client at some point...not looking forward to that process. Has anyone heard anything about this?

I watch my fuel flow meters. When the number gets an extra digit, you're in AB.

I remember reading somewhere (years ago) that, for a plane that big and heavy, it was pretty agile. I'm sure it's no slouch.

Of course! Such a ship would make far more sense to operate your F6F's or F4U's from than the Carl Vinson. I'm hoping for the Enterprise! -

People have been saying that since the 90's. Somehow, it's hasn't happened yet.

It's a good read that also covers BVR. You need to have your brain on when you read it. I hope you enjoy! It's helped crystallize things for me.

Go to edit your controls and look under the "Cheat" category. You'll see your auto startup there. It's default to RWin + Home. Shutdown is RWin + End. I'm not sure how they work, but that's the default. You'll still need to taxi if you start on the ramp, but it should shortcut the process if you just want to get in the air.

I'll counterpoint what Danmon says. Valid points, all of them, and he's not wrong. However, I love flying the F-86. For pure joy of just flying something, if you're into that, the F-86 can't be beaten. It's a hot rod. Turns on a dime, totally responsive. It has its issues and there is a definite lack of content for such a wonderful simulation. There is no manual, no step-by-step tutorial, and no campaign (only a few one-off missions.) This is unfortunate, but, until Belsimtek comes around to touching up the F-86, there are things you can do. For a manual, check out the following: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=137574 That guide will get you started up, flying, and fighting in no time. The tactics, though, are up to you, as always. For that, I recommend "No Guts, No Glory" for some evening reading. Now, there is still the matter of content, or lack thereof, to use your new F-86 with. Why not use this opportunity to learn the Mission Editor, if you haven't yet? Get creative. And, hey, if you have some good ideas, maybe develop a campaign? ED is looking for developers for these and the F-86 is a prime candidate...there's definitely a market for a good Saber campaign. Strike while the iron's hot and maybe beat Belsimtek to the punch. You'll still have to deal with the intrusive smoke in your nose when your fire your 50 cal's. You can either deal with it, wait until EDGE comes out to maybe remedy the effect, or modify your game. I bought the F-86 and have been very happy with hit. It's been sitting in the hangar a lot more than the A-10 and P-51, but joyriding in the Saber is an absolutely fun time. And, hey, with a simulation like this, I can only expect some cool stuff to come out for it in the future. Use the time to polish your Saber skill basics!
