  1. I guess it is great for lower end systems. It is no silver bullet though, at least for me. It introduces a lot of artifacts. For instance, if you fly relatively low and look left at the tip of your ECM pod (on standard loadouts), you'll notice the tip change shape as it blends with the background. You won't notice in tense combat situations but it is pretty noticeable when flying into/out of the AO. Plus, I have a pretty high end system (i7 6700k, Nvidia 1080, 16go DDR4) and run at 1.8x to make everything more legible. I am still plagued with micro stutters even with ASW on. It is most noticeable when flying a low altitude a looking down right to the ground. The ground texture should fly by smoothly but it doesn't. The effect is even worse with ASW on. Dunno if you guys experience the same effect.
  2. ASW is enabled, so says the Oculus service log file but the keyboard shortcuts seem to have no effect ... weird.
  3. Well, it seems like Asynchronous Spacewarp is already in the current Oculus runtime. Can't wait to try it out when I get back from work tonight !!
  4. Hey Guys, I own an Oculus CV1 and love every seconds of flying with it. I wish resolution was a little better but hey, it's the first iteration and the sense of scale and immersion greatly compensate. Anyone who's actually tried DCS in VR know all of that. Performance is still an issue but it is still a stunning experience and I'm glad ED was able give that to us by the time HMD CVs hit the market. However, I have a few questions about the A-10C in VR. Is it just me of the default head position in cockpit is way too far forward. When I turn around to look at the seat, it looks like I'm sitting with my butt cheeks on the edge of the seat. In contrast, the best experience of flying in VR is IMHO the L39C Albatros. The VR Pilot body and position in the front cockpit is just spot on. Before you yell at me for not using the search function, I know about RALT + RSHIT */- to move forward/backward the head position but if I do that, I no longer can see the whole HUD. I understand the whole HUD collimation thing but it seems to me that the hud area was setup with a head position way too far forward. I might be mistaken but the way I see it, given that there's a fixed distance between the seat headrest and hud, there's a relatively fixed distance between the eyes and the hud plate which gives us the apparent HUD real estate in between the fame in perspective and from which the HUD element and text relative sizes and spacing should be calculated. I opened up the HUD LUA files and was expecting to see calculated element spacing but it seems most of them are hard coded (ie spacing between element a and b is exactly 31 pixels of something). There went my hopes of easily being able fix anything. Anybody feels the same way ? I have read somewhere that ED was planning to add VR bodies in all of the planes, including the A-10C. Did I dream that ? If they did, there no way to pull that off without fixing the HUD vs head position issue. Cheers :joystick:
  5. Quick question for those familiar with VKB joystick mapping features. Is there a way to emulate mouse axis with buttons much like you can with Thurstmaster TARGET ?
  6. Hey guys, I'm building an air start mission where I want certain settings to be set at mission start, like the Maverick EO power. Is the a way to set what is turned on / off at mission start ? Thanks Cheers :joystick:
  7. Ranger, I reflew the mission twice last night. The first time, the RPG guys did pop and managed to get rid of them. Second time, only one poped. Shot the first one with rockets then I had to drop a GBU-38 on the building to trigger the next sequence. Not sure what is wrong but I eventually managed to go through. Also It might have already been reported but my wingman stays on the runway after landing which prevent the other element to land. Not sure why :) It happened at least 3 times with various missions Beside that, the campaign is great fun. Thanks.
  8. Hey Ranger, had a blast with your campaign sofar but I think there's a bug in mission 5. I'll try not to say too much but I'm supposed to take down RPG units on top a building marked by red smoke but there's nothing on the building. Did multiple runs with rockets and bombs but nothing happened. Is it just me? Then something very weird happened. Everytime I try to give radio calls to my flight. The Radio menu gets stuck and I no longer can use my Fxx keys. In the same series, everytime I quit mid-mission in say mission 5, when I go back to the campaign to fly, it sets me back to mission 4. I'm running the missions bought from the ED store. What am I missing :s Cheers.
  9. Damn, this is good news and bad news at the same time. Better quality but longer wait IMHO. Where do you get your news from :)
  10. Nice, still waiting for mine, scheduled for mid-october. I can't wait. I'm sick and tired of my Saitek Pro Pedals.
  11. I was told that the boards are already produced and are on their way to the distributors. One key missing part is the software update that is required to being able to map the buttons on the warthogs stick. That's not ready yet and I was not given an ETA. Once everything's ready, it'll be available at the distributors online shop. Happy flying :joystick:
  12. Well to their defense, Eduard from VKB Europe was trying to be helpful. The Warthog adapter is actually not listed yet but he had a couple Warthog adapters in stock (same as black mamba) and agreed to sell it to me. A couple of days later he came back saying that it needed that adapter board and software update. Well my guess is that the Gunfighter is the answer, if only they could give the option to purchase without the KG-12 plastic grip.
  13. Yeah that gimbal system is truly amazing. The default springs are way too weak though for my taste, especially when coming from a Warthog but you get plenty with different strength to choose from. I did some testing with the Glad Pro but ended up returning it for a couple reasons: I love (understatement here) the gimbals but I really don't like the base. While the gimbal itself feels premium, the rest of the base feels too platicky for my taste. while testing the Glad Pro, I receive the Nyogel 767a damping grease and applied it to the warthog gimbals. The result is night and day. Everything's really smooth .. but you still have the center position that is sooo annoying. I guess that the rest being smooth will make me wait for the Gunfighter. Got the warthog adapter but it requires additional PCB to work (most likely to convert the shift registers to the 3 wire protocol the Glad seems to be using) and software update which is not ready yet. I can't live without my F-16/A-10 stick so I'd have to wait anyways before being able to fully take advantage of it. Lesson learned about Impulse purchases. Well... I ended up ordering the MFG Crosswind in graphite instead :) Happy flying :joystick:
  14. Thanks for your advice. The good thing is, Edward told me I have 14 days to return it just in case. Thank you EU customer protection laws :). I'd only loose the shipping money. But anyways, from what I have read, the gimbals are far superior to the Warthog's. It will probably be love at first sight, can't wait to try them. Well I'm sure I can figure something out. I want to make something 100% reversible because I will probably just end-up buying a Gunfighter at the end of the day and selling the Glad. Actually as I mentioned, I can cut a pocket in the underside, right under stick mount, cut a hole that goes right through for the cables and hide the PCB in there. I'd need to make longer cables or extending them somehow. From the pictures, the Gunfighter will only have somekind of 6 pins DIN connector. I guess there's electronics in the base to serialize the values of both axies and button presses. I wonder how the guys from RealSimulator managed to pull it off with their FFSB R3 base. They can connect their sensors which have separate axies if I'm not mistaken with the warthog pcb. Anyways, the gunfighter with the warthog grip is an even better solution.
  15. Well that sound like a great plan but I don't have access to any laser cutting and bending machines. I live in Paris, France and having something custom cut in my area costs a kidney. I would have so many ideas if only I had access to such facilities. The second problem is, if you take a look at my setup (attached), it was nice. 13 degrees tilted forward. I wish I could just replace the gimbals. I need to replicate that base and hide the electronics somewhere. I wonder why the Gladiator PCB take so much room. The PCB in the TM stick is tiny. Probably cost related I guess. VKB would probably make a lot of money if they managed to provide a plug and play gimbal replacement for Warthog stick owners.
  16. Well I got a gladiator pro on the way with the Warthog adapter. Should arrive by the end of the week. I probably should have waited for the Gunfighter but I was dying to replace my Warthog gimbals with something better. Tried to grease it and everything but well, that strong center position is just a pain in the ... When Edward from VKB Europe told me they had a couple warthog adapter in stock I jumped the gun. My original plan was to retrofit the gimbal system inside the warthog stick base. It looks like the diameter of the gladiator stick base is about the same as top ring of the warthog base. Or I figured could build a custom base using a PVC 10mm tube and 2 steel 10mm discs to mimic the warthog base. Now that I see the size of the electronics, there's not way it's going to fit. Plus, I don't really care about the outer buttons and axies the Gladiator has on its base. So... yeah, I probably should have waited for for the Gunfighter but Edward told me that it would most likely have the same gimbal system but it could be a year before it is available for order. I gotta figure something out. It might be better just to dump the internal electronics and go the Arduino way. We'll see. Or, since My warthog stick and throttles are mounted onto the base of my chair, I could probably could route a pocket into the wood and hide the electronics underneath the stick mount. Anybody's ever got the same idea ?
  17. Thanks Han. I think that clarifies the situation. Cheers !! Neuro. :joystick: PS: It must be a pleasure to input the wind correction in that CDU or yours :). Great job!!
  18. Hey guys, I have read a lot about LASTE wind correction on the forum. I have been introduced to the problem by the great video by Bunyap and started to read on the subject. I have read mixed comments about the actual effect of entering the wind values in the CDU. Some of the comment date back a little. I'm not sure whether ED has made any corrections on the subject. I'm more sure what happens when the mission has dynamic weather set. It seems I can't get the values to input. I was under the impression that in real life, that data is imported from the Data Cardrigde. I thought I had read somewhere that it might be implemented but I may be mistaken. I'm sure I am not the only one asking the question (or maybe am I ?). It would be great to have a definitive answer whether it is actually needed or not. Any insight ? Thanks guys. Cheers! Neuro
  19. Hey Guys, I'm running DCS 1.5.4.55952 openbeta in VR with Oculus CV1. I noticed that in the A-10C, the cursor changes from time to time from the green cross to a weird potato. See attachment. Once it changes, there's no way to get the green cross back. Looks like a bug or is it just me ? Anyhow, just to let you guys know. Cheers, C. 20. Hey guys, I'm trying to get SoftTH to work with DCS A10C but sofar it is a no go. Does anyone know if it does work with windows 8.1 ? I'm managed to have all screens setup, all display the SoftTH logo except the primary screen but then I just can't use the mouse. It also seems like it is in Window Mode instead of fullscreen mode. Config : Intel i4770K Nvidia 780TI SLI 4x1920x1080 screens 16Go RAM DCS World 1.2.10 SoftTH 2.08alpha 64bits Windows 8.1 64bits Here is my SoftTH configuration config.zip My setup works reasonably well with 3 screens Nvidia surround in fullscreen. I wanted to add a 4th screen with gauges and MFD exports but in fullscreen. I have about 30fps drop in window mode. Thanks C.
