  2. Didn't realise that was the case with the control knob in the Dora. Good to know :)
  3. The mustang can be run on full wep for 20+mins. It's all about understanding the stresses your putting on the engine. This is the same for the Dora and the 109. If you aren't going fast enough, the cooling system won't be running as efficiently as possible leading to failure. I personally find manual control of the radiator flaps best, especially if your looking for best performance, remember they will cause extra drag
  4. Il have to double check.
  5. Hi guys This might have been brought up before. Been looking at some test data for the P51 and the maximum speed at sea level for the Packard Merlin 1650-7 engine. http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/mustang/p51d-15342.html If you look at this document it states the following: Maximum speed at sea level War Emergency power (3000 RPM and 67") 375 MPH Military power (3000 RPM and 61") 364 MPH Normal Rated power (2700 RPM and 46") 323 MPH It may be just me and my flying style but I have never been able to get the aircraft over 328mph in level flight at sea level. In that situation I had to run the aircraft at 2700rpm at 67" . 3000rpm actually caused airspeed to drop below 320mph. This is on a completely clean and trimmed aircraft. Is this an error in the flight model? Thanks Rolfey

  11. Thats awesome news, I will keep an eye on the forums here and on Virtual Aerobatics. Would love to take part in that. I'm going to be working on some P51/TF51 liveries for this pack too. Sad that their isn't a mixed 'Unlimited' class, but it would probably be a bit unbalanced in DCS. Thanks
  12. Thinking of doing a couple based on real liveries from motorsport and a few more like Reno racing aircraft, less about the sponsor and more about the personality of the aircraft. Starting with the 109 and then doing the rest of the prop planes. Hopefully get some proper air racing going soon :)
  13. Thanks for the replies :) I know what you mean Richard. I'm going ahead with the project but will take the skins down if there are any issues. I have no plans to make money from them.
  14. Hi everyone I have just started a project to create a pack of air racing liveries. The idea being that hopefully the skins would be featured on a server with air racing :) I have started off with the 109 Here is a fictional, Gulf Oil sponsored 109 named 'Oil Fiend'. Will post more soon [updated] Here is the second 109, named Meine Roten Kopf. [Fictional] Story behind this plane is that it was originally a restoration project for the Sinsheim Autotechnik Museum. The plane was restored with the engine work being carried out by Mercedes AMG. The museum only wanted to make it a static display and the owner wanted to keep her in flying condition, this led to the owner keeping the aircraft and campaigning it at Reno and other events. Sinsheim Autotechnik stayed on was a major sponsor of the aircraft. DOWNLOAD LINKS Files can be downloaded from my website, this is where files will be uploaded till I put a pack together for the 'User Files' section. http://jrolfedesign.com/texture.html
  15. Hi everyone, not sure if this is where the thread should go. I am about to start work on a series of fictional racing skins for aircraft and am wondering what the rules are around using existing logos on the aircraft. One example being if I wanted to use the Gulf colours and logos on and aircraft. Would I still be able to upload it to the user files page on the DCS website. Example Thanks :)
