  1. From what I know the R-24 should have similar capabilities to the AIM-7F, so even by Western standards the missile isn't bad. The Flogger will certainly require different tactics to what most 4th gen pilots are used to. Even the Soviet MLD user's manual suggested slash and dash style attacks as opposed to dogfighting, particularly when facing F-15s.
  2. That's the primary reason why I'd love to see the F-13 in the game. Along with the Fresco it'd create a perfect REDFOR lineup for Vietnam war operations as well as some early to mid-1960s Middle East scenarios. My friends and I did some testing of the Bis today. The loss of pitch authority occurs at above 780-800 kph IAS. With the stick fully aft the plane is incapable of exceeding 5 g and ~11 deg alpha (as indicated by the cockpit gauge). I tried the manual ARU and it does improve matters a lot, but one has to be careful as the plane is perfectly capable of ripping its wings off at high enough g loadings (which is hardly a surprise).
  3. I'm fairly certain that the devs stated on several occasions that SPO-15 and countermeasure launchers will be optional features on the Flogger-G to reflect field-modded MLAs flown by export users (i.e. Iraq) and - this is entirely speculation on my part - export MLAE/"MLD" variants as used by Bulgaria and Syria. Although I'd prefer the MLD for its aerodynamic enhancements, the MLA (izdeliye 23-12A) is (imho) a better representation of the Flogger family, as it was used by a great number of export customers in addition to its native USSR. I'm not counting the export "MLDs" (better described as MLAE, 23-19 for Syria and 23-22 for Bulgaria) with the Soviet variants (23-18, only used by the USSR), as they were MLA airframes outfitted with MLD-derived avionics and as such lacked the aerodynamic enhancements of the 23-18.
  4. Tonight was fun! Glad I could join the server for a few flights with actual teamwork going on, I really needed this. Thanks to all who were there! EDIT: The sight of almost the entire red team chasing (and being outrun by) a single Viggen must've been priceless...
  5. Exactly. The MLA carried the same Type 3 wing as the M and ML, with a single dog-tooth and leading-edge slats. The MLD had an additional notch on the wing glove (not the wing itself). This model of a Soviet MLD with the wings at full sweep (72 degrees) shows it well:
  6. Stellar work Olsiv! A friend gave me a tip about this mod and I couldn't be happier about it. Tried it out in SP yesterday, worked without a hitch.
  7. I really hope this becomes a fully developed 3rd party module for DCS, I'd buy that on day one.
  8. Cheers, much appreciated.
  9. Looking good. Any word on which variant of the RWR we'll be getting first? If I remember correctly, it was stated that eventually we will get both SPO-10 and SPO-15 to choose from, along with dorsal-mounted IRCM launchers. Which specification of the MLA is this being modelled after (Soviet, WarPac or 3rd world export)?
  10. Excellent, glad to hear it. :) [waves from across your nothern border]
  11. I'm looking forward to this, REDFOR really could use some strike aircraft. Any chance for Polish or East German camo schemes? ;) Which series of the M4 is this going to represent? Late aircraft (series 30 and later I believe) for Warsaw Pact air forces were equipped with the IT-23M TV screen in the cockpit, giving the pilot a live camera feed from the seeker head of Kh-29T missile (IIRC actual targeting was done by the Klyon-54 target designator, similar to what's already modelled in DCS: Su-25).
  12. JG-1_Firefly - MiG-21bis.
  13. Thanks very much to everyone who participated in the joint training session. We will be holding another one soon, will let everyone know once we come up with a date.
  14. Of course. If I could change one thing about Elbrus, it'd be its length. The next time I see an 8-hour long Elbrus mission I'm going to sign off for the day.
  15. Elbrus is gone from rotation? Thank you for your continued work on Alpenwolf. Can't wait to try out the new mission.
  16. Here's a message I've just sent out to everyone involved, posting it here just in case I missed someone. I redacted the Discord server, mission name and password, just so we don't get any unwanted attention. PM me for details if needed.
  17. Apologies, I meant CEST (aka current time in Berlin, Paris, Warsaw etc.). Will edit the announcement. Thanks!
  18. Gentlemen, I have an important announcement to make. On 18 June at 8 PM CEST JG-1 will be hosting a joint practice session for all REDFOR pilots. More details to follow over the coming days. Stay tuned!
  19. Exactly. Their next release is the MiG-23, so the F-15E is years away.
  20. Sure thing mate, glad you were able to grab a spot.
  21. Posting for a friend, he doesn't have an account on DCS forums yet. JG-1_Razwald - MiG-21 EDIT: Just so there's no doubt that Razwald would like to join, here's a screenshot from our forums.
  22. Cheers, will do.
  23. I know of at least two who wanted to sign up for the 21, but now have to choose something else.
  24. Alpenwolf, I'd like to suggest removing some F-5 spots and increasing the number of MiG-21 seats, like we discussed recently. 4x MiG-21s for 4x F-5s seems like a fair trade.
  25. JG-1_Firefly - MiG-21.
