  1. Missions like Two Towns is exactly why we need the Su-17/22 in the game. Fast in, drop ordnance, fast out, avoid enemy CAP if at all possible, send R-60s towards any enemy fighter that disagrees.

    RN 24

To the best of my knowledge, neither the RN-24 nor the RN-28 were ever fitted with a drag chute.
  3. A very interesting interview with an F-8J pilot popped up in my YouTube subscriptions, definitely worth checking out. https://www.fighterpilotpodcast.com/episodes/050-f-8-crusader/?fbclid=IwAR3AHjboX_5oyP23BJ_93UcQdE6qIic9mBC8-SXP8lAalK4zcauNUQxPqs8
  4. It's back up and running again, though there's no-one on. ON A FRIDAY EVENING! :(
  5. ...and it's back offline again. :(
  6. Server's completely gone, everything froze a few minutes past 9 PM CET.
  7. Thank you gentlemen, pleasure flying with you! I'd love to do more missions with everyone involved, though my suggestion would be to spend more time on planning to know what every group is up to.
  8. The mission was great fun, thank you for hosting Alpenwolf. Our brave diversion from the North will not be forgotten! :P At one point we had 3 or 4 Tomcats chasing us all the way back to Sochi.
  9. Exceptional! Landing a Fishbed like that is always a very satisfying experience. :)
  10. It's not about the airframe, it's about the radar. The Kh-66 (and the RS-2US) could only be fired by MiG-21 variants that carried the RP-21 Sapfir. The official Polish bis manual (factory designation izdeliye 75A, equipped with the RP-22SMA) supports this - neither the Kh-66 nor the RS-2US are listed as available air-to-ground weapons. These can be fired by any Fishbed model that isn't an S, SM, SMT or bis. EDIT: You're right Kang, they only added it to expand our MiG's weapon arsenal, not because it was used in real life.
  11. Shame 21bis couldn't use them in real life.
  12. Played for an hour or so today, no lag to speak of.
  13. I'd like a slot in the MiG-21 please, JG-1_Firefly. :)
  14. So far so good, went into combat earlier today and bagged a few kills with no issues aside from a short lag spike when tailing a Viggen. Thank you for working so hard on ironing out the issues!
  15. Looks like the server is down again.
  16. As a REDFOR player, I don't mind being outnumbered that much, unless of course there's enough enemy aircraft to swarm you every time you get on someone's tail (or attempt to). My only issue is when BLUFOR has enough planes to completely saturate the air defences around the Red base's perimeter and thus attack the airfield with impunity. Few things in DCS are as frustrating as trying to navigate a bombed-out runway while being strafed.
  17. Oh I know that thread. ;) The funny thing is, with the Su-22M4 still in service with the Polish Air Force (despite the type being considered obsolete) information should be relatively easy to come by, even for a 3rd party developer. I still don't get why no-one has picked it up yet. This would've been a day one purchase for me. As for the Flogger, I presume you're going to limit it to R-60s and R-23s, at least initially?
  18. Phone Booth is as fun as ever. It's perfectly judged in terms of size and pace. I only wish we had some Su-17s or MiG-23s to play with, that could've made ground pounding for REDFOR so much more fun. :( EDIT: @Alpenwolf, do you have any plans regarding the introduction of the MiG-23 once that's released? I'm wondering how that will affect the balance of the game before the F-4 is released (and that's years away). The F-8 is unlikely to address that concern.
  19. ...and it still is. :<
  20. Oh I can imagine. Until next time!
  21. True. When I asked for someone to come over to the other side, no-one responded. Not a huge fan of this kind of instant action, even Phone Booth is already a bit of a squeeze. Wish we could've flown together for a bit longer, you left quite suddenly.
  22. Left the mission despite a packed server, was strafed and damaged three times without as much as a chance of taking off. No fun at all.
  23. This isn't the intermediate 7.62x39 round developed in 1943, it's the full-power 7.62x54mmR rifle cartridge, originally designed for the Mosin bolt-action rifle. The former usually has about 2100 joules of muzzle energy, while the latter sits at around 3600. That's a massive difference in hitting power.
  24. Looks like OldBoots is up to his usual tricks... Today I saw him get 5 kills in one session while flying the Frogfoot! :joystick: @Alpenwolf, having tested SRS several times today I'm completely on board with the idea of enforcing it. The immersion it provides is immeasurable. So much fun to fly this way, even if I didn't get many kills! Many thanks to Godfather for excellent GCI work. :)
