  1. That's almost certainly one of those top secret answers we won't get anytime soon. But I would say the smart money is on "depends how good your electrical engineers are". :smilewink:
  2. The version they are going is the Mirage 2000C which doesn't have air to ground radar. I'm not sure but I think that is does have radar that can be used to detect ships for Exocet guidance but I suspect that it is not as complicated the more sophisticated air to surface radar like that of the F/A-18C.
  3. It can but it is pretty bad at it. Poor rate of climb and really bad altitude performance.
  4. I'm not sure why people are so keen on having a scaling solution right now on an engine that will soon be obsolete. Resources spent on putting scaling into the current engine will go to waste as soon as EDGE comes out and it would be time and effort that could have been spent on features for EDGE or getting it out sooner....
  5. Apparently this is a limitation of the SFM. I think is was stated elsewhere that there will be no axis brakes until AFM.

Its still not the Boomerang but I think that music might have me sold...
  7. I'm sure we are all keen to get our hands on DCS 2 but it will be out when it is done. I'm sure everyone at ED is just as keen to see it out as everyone else, maybe even more. They have been working on it for some time and I am sure they really want to finally see all their hard work get out there for people to use but at the same time they don't want everyone to be disappointed because something is half baked or worked badly. I know its hard be we really have to be patient and nothing we say on the forums is going to make it happen any faster :)
  8. Or people could make some multiplayer missions restricting weapons to the mid-late 1980s so the 2000C has a bit more of a chance. Having some missions like that would be more fun generally, personally I don't find trying to dodge endless waves of 120s all that entertaining.
  9. Having a quick look around 50 km seems a commonly quoted maximum range for the MICA which sounds pretty reasonable given its size and weight making it a a short to medium range missile. Why not a long range? Probably has something to do with the plans for the Rafale to use the MBDA Meteor when it become available and that missile is anything but short ranged.
  10. I have been doing pretty well with flying the WWII planes with just a twist grip. If you are having trouble just play with the axis curves until you find something that works for you.
  11. I have no trouble using the cowl flaps. I know you guys are trying to help but I am asking how the mechanics of the system works rather than how to use it :)
  12. That how I understand it works right now too but Yo-Yo made a statement along the lines of the system being automated in such a way that you could only set the temperature within a certain range and if the temp moved outside that range it would go fully automatic to bring the temp back into that range. Right now you can set the flaps so the radiator sits at 60 or goes over 130 and blows the engine but what I understand from what was said that shouldn't actually be possible. The impression I got is that is how it was working in the dev version. So I am just asking if I have somehow misunderstood what was said and the way it works now is authentic or if there is some kind of change that hasn't yet made it into the release.
  13. I know it is an automated system. I stated that in my original question which is a specific question about how the system is currently modelled in the release version and how this appears to be different to how Yo-Yo seems to have described it. I was asking if the current way it is modelled is the final intended model or if there is changes that haven't yet been merged with the main branch.
  14. This is still a problem as of 1.2.16.37730.701 in multi-player. I had my pitot freeze during final which wasn't very helpful needless to say. Is there any update on this bug? Is it an open report?
  15. Yeah I have some idea of how it works but it would be good to know exactly how it functions.
  16. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how the radiator flaps of the Dora are implemented at the moment. To me the settings on the wheel seem to be open>auto>closed. I was reading a while ago that this wasn't actually correct and that the flaps were fully automatic and all the pilot could do is adjust the temperate that the automatic system attempted to regulate to. I am just wondering what setup is being used right now and is that the right one and/or is it going to be changed?
  17. I would dispute the 109 having better weapons, sure the 108 is powerful but it is not an easy weapon to use and has little ammunition. It is not a very effective weapon against fighters.
  18. I think you might be taking this danger zone thing a bit too far now ;)
  19. Aww there goes my Internet crusade for the CAC Bomarang :P ;)
  20. Thanks for finding that out. Could you please let ED know the current manual doesn't seem to clearly state that it is not permitted to run the engine at 1.8 ata without the MW50?
  21. You cannot do this in the D-9. The engine management system won't let you, that is why I am so curious about this aspect of the 109 engine management.
  22. I never claimed it did, but MW50 does have an anti detonate effect. So my question was about whether the engine should fail and/or sustain damage when operated at that pressure without MW50.
  23. You did! Its was the Februamarch update :P ;) More seriously though I agree it would be better off if people didn't ask. It puts needless and additional pressure of developers and it won't get you updates any faster. If Cobra had as half as much fun as he looked like he was having with the f-14 reveal I think you can safely assume they would like to get the update out as much as you would like to read it!
  24. So the engine being able to reach 1.8 ata without the use of the MW50 system is correct behaviour? If that is the case is it permitted to exceed 1.45 without the MW50 system? I have been searching the manual for the answer for this and I haven't been able to figure it out. I think the increase in prop pitch will increase the volume of the prop noise. I had a quick test with the p-51 and it seems to be true at least in that case.
