  1. Whilst the campaign isn't too fussy about it and allows a bit of Aircraft damage and still gives progression onto Aerobatics... I've learned to hate that fence (at the end of the divert airfield) I've only once avoided hitting it and stopped before the runway end...Even nudging it at 20 - 30 knots seems to result in a fire or an explosion... What is it made of - detonator cord strung up?
  2. CTD when adjusting TAD Profile I'm getting a DCS CTD (replicated it 3 times) During A10C start-up if i go into TAD control (to remove range rings) when i try to save profile DCS crashes... Is this a known fault...is there anything i can do about it?
  3. The UFC gives me the option of setting 3 altitude alerts - 1 above Ground and a floor and ceiling in relation to Sea Level. What would they typically be used for/set to? Manual simply refers to them - how they can be input via the UFC/HUD...but not what they're intended to be used for or what typical operating values might be set at! Cheers (Apologies...whilst i've had the A10C for A LONG time...I'm just getting to grips with it...via the Maple Flag BFQ/AFQ/TFT campaigns) so I suspect there'll be more questions along )
  4. Hey overwhelming majority of DCS Players...don't bother (You realise it would instantly stop being viable and would no longer be supported let alone developed further...right?)
  5. As someone else who has always found the "word training" confusing - I thought this explanation might clarify things for me too...however still confused! When I double click on an "AI Communications" phrase - it does open up the corresponding Edit a Command Window... However, the Edit a command window is blank for ALL the phrases (so there's nothing to select What am I "pasting in" with CTRL + V (to replace with viacom commands) where does THAT come from and how is it generated...
  6. Thanks!
  7. Thinking about picking up this module...a much loved Airframe and really enjoyed reading "A Nightmares Prayer: A Marine Harrier Pilots War" recently... Training Missions look like they're nearly done...is there an Aircraft Manual yet...or am I better off waiting a little longer?
  8. Apologies if this is a basic question...my Viacom pro seems a bit vague about holding the "default" comms destinations once i've flown a few missions... (Though deleting the export lua file and restarting always puts it back on track) IE: I fly a mission from Batumi...input the correct frequencies then PTT and "request taxi to runway" if thats the first mission i've flown then everything is fine, it recognises my phrase as being directed towards Batumi & Batumi ATC responds correctly and will continue to do so for the rest of that mission... Now, say for example I've hopped in a free flight or a different mission first...it might instead respond to my say "request Engine start" as if i've contacted Kobuletti ATC even if i'm at Batumi and tuned to the Batumi frequencies... No idea how to "force it" to talk to Batumi as i've never been able to get a compound phrase IE "Batumi, Colt 11, Request Taxi to Runway" to respond...only the simple phrases that don't specify target of comms and own callsign...IE: Request Taxi to Runway"
  9. Very basic question on installing the DCS Bios Software (for controlling the Landing Gear Lights on the Flight Switch panel) It says install the export.lua script in Saved Games/DCS/Scripts I already have an export.lua file (from Viacom pro that I use) What happens? What should I do?
  10. Response to above: Updating Voice Attack to latest version seemed to resolve problem!
  11. I can't seem to get VAC/Viacom Pro to listen to my commands...everytime i push one of the three PTT keys (Mic Fwd, Mic Dwn, Mic Aftd) I get a line displayed in the VA Window UNABLE TO INVOKE PLUGIN, 'VAICOM PRO 2.5. DUE TO EXCEPTION: 'VoiceAttack.VoiceAttackInvokeProxyClass' does not contain a definition for 'Utility' Any idea's Cheers!
  12. Holy Thread Necromancy! Just come across this functionality as it seems an excellent way of controlling VAC and Viacom and my Headtracking Solution without recourse to Target Does anyone know if it will work with ED Tracker and Open Track by the simple expedient of using the same Centre/Pause Keys in Open Track - or is it more complicated than that?
  13. Thanks Hollywood!
  14. I've had a scan through the thread but its swollen to 163 pages and I can't spot what I'm after!!! I fear I may have accidentally "edited" the list of voice commands while in Keywords Training Mode - I can't see "Crew" anywhere in the Command Phrase List...and Crew/Sarge only have 2 Alias (Should be 3 I guess Chief/Crew/Sarge) Its not IMPOSSIBLE i've done it elsewhere as i've been backwards and forwards through training mode ALOT (It doesn't like my english accent) How do I get Viacom Pro to reload and revert to the "unedited" default Command Phrase List ?
  15. Thanks so much for all the replies!!! I'll try a little "curve" adjustment over the weekend to see if it has a massive impact... Though I suspect as hinted...practice...and an acceptance that its not a totally hands off flight experience will be of as much help! Thanks for the feedback on rudder usage... Currently an extension to my Joystick isn't really an option... I'm using a CH Products set-up (though I do have a Warthog set boxed...I'm going to use that in the near future following a room move for my computer and I wonder if that might help too...)
  16. :) not tried curves thought straight linear on the joystick would give the best response...i'll see how i get on with that - thanks!
  17. I'll freely admit the answer is probably..."its hard...and you're a DCS noob" But more seriously, purchased the F5E Module in the Christmas Sale as a sort of "lead-in" trainer to the more advanced Combat Aircraft I want to fly...(I already have the A10C and the AV8B mouldering little used on my hard-drive) I thought the F5 with its "steam instruments" and lack of FBW/FLCS would instill some good basics/foundations to set me up for the more "systems" based flying of contemporary Aircraft... Anyway, long story short - all i'm currently doing is firing up Free-Flight and trying to trim for level flightconstant speed at different speeds and altitudes...and also trying to sit in formation with the "Lead" Aircraft in the scenario... Trimming for level flight seems very difficult...not helped by the "button" type trim...doesn't seem to be a way of mapping it to a slider or dial axis for analogue trim control...so a click up gives a climb...a click down gives a descent (rinse and report in increments) likewise the throttle lag makes a steady speed or position in formation very hard to attain...oh and the classic "use your leads wings as a horizon" use rudder for lateral movements seems tough becuase easing off the rudder always seems to cause the nose to "baloon" back to its original position... I know we're talking real basic flight...but any tips for smooth co-ordinated flight and formations in this deceptively awkward little plain... I've not even moved onto turns yet!
  18. :) Thanks for the feedback guys...probably about what I thought...will run smoothly most of the time...but some weather/some missions will still cause it to flag occasionally...
  19. ALl of the threads about Hardware requirements are REALLY vague about if it is possible/what is required to run DCS at 1440p And by run I mean actual scenarios/campaign missions/MP Missions rather than "demo" missions scaled for good performance... What Hardware do I need to be scoping out to run "busy" missions at high-detail in 1440p... Not so interested in average FPS as Frame Times are more important - I could "live with" 60FPS as long as there are NONE of those horrid micro-stutters that exist (Presumably when a Frame Time creeps above s 15ms) My current system throws them up at 1080p (so i've parked DCS awaiting a new build)...so what does my new build need to ELIMINATE that at 1440p (I'd specced up a 9700K/2080 OC) but will the the c$400 dollars extra for a 2080Ti make a difference...or is that level of performance unrealistic anyway and should I wait on ANOTHER hardware generation before coming back to DCS...
  20. Fighter Pilots make movies...Bomber Pilots make History :)
  21. I'm pretty sure most decent headsets will do the trick (wired usually better than wireless pound for pound for mic pick-up) I use a Corsair Hyper X Cloud 2 which does the trick with various Voice Attack plug-ins for DCS and Elite Dangerous so should fit the bill...
  22. Getting back into DCS after it being on the shelf for a while... What are people currently using for MFCD export to mini-monitors for use with Cougar MFDs? I used Ultra MFCD in the past...but am under the impression it no longer works under version 2.5... Any recommendations? Cheers!
  23. Anyone have links to the mission files that went with Beach AV8Rs SU25 Training Reports on Sim HQ? I've downloaded the AARs from LOMAC files but can't seem to find the accompanying missions anywhere... The links to the files from the Sim HQ threads seem broken...as he's re-organised his Mudspike site recently Thanks in advance!
