  1. Don't forget the hellcat and corsair, p-38 in the pacific. I understand the interst of the company being in thee UK and having more interest in the European theater. I prefer the pacific theater so hearing they have no intention at all going that way in disappointing. With that being said a real European map and surrondings is sure needed for the immersion factor
  2. Not very nice. in every era we can go head to head and I'll take the American planes each time and I'll eat your lunch
  3. I've been busy lately and haven't got online. I'll try tonight to see what's up.
  4. I'm looking for some online activity around 11:00 pst or later in the WWII theater. Im on the west coast Thanks Don
  5. Last night I cranked it up in MP and it fired then stalled. I tried cranking it one more time and it wouldn't even turn. I had to exit and return then it fired on the first time, but cranks way too slow
  6. Oh ok. I got booted a few times which I wasn't sure why as my ping was 112. Thanks
  7. I was in the DoW server last night and saw the "test" server and wondered what was going on. I left and came back online and the "regular " DoW was gone. It doesn't take long to start and takeoff, is it the flight to the mission that is time consuming? I'm new so I don't know? Don
  8. My bad! I drifted off on a tangent thinking the K-4 in here didn't have the right "boost", I was wrong and off topic
  9. That engine was toast due to battle damage, not from wep. The best trained pilots that used that training and we're best prepared for battle were the victorious ones, not the ones with the faster plane. This guy in that article was dumb and lucky to survive
  10. I don't think if you returned to base and told the chief mechanic, "I had to go to wep for longer then I wanted to in order to surive, so can you rebuild the engine tonight" I doubt they had the spare parts or time to do so. You may have survived that one but with that stress you may not make the next one? Those guys were more then just a pilot pushing the throttle at will.
  11. "Niederschrift Nr 6730 of Daimler Benz dated 24 January 1945 states: Testing of 1.98 boost pressure may be done provisionally at group 2/11, the rest of the tests with appropriate engines already started having failed. Only engines with 1.8 boost may be supplied. Strict punishment is threatened if this instruction is neglected. True. My point in sharing this info was to show the 1.98 boost wasn't used according to this article. What boost is used in this sim?
  13. According to this article http://users.atw.hu/kurfurst/articles/MW_KvsXIV.htm The full boost of 1.98 was really never used due to engine failure. In the sim how many are running wep for periods longer then a few minutes at a time? I've also read where RL pilots never used the wep in the K-4 as they were told over time you'd blow your engine. It would be nice if we were able to get in the same plane each time (unless you were shot out of the sky) to give us more immersion.
  14. Corsair http://www.classicfighters.org/content/chance-vought-f4u-4-corsair-history Corsair had a small part in the European theater also. By the end of WWII the F4 U-4 was a beast with numbers that many of its competitors couldn't touch. Plus it could carry bombs and rockets that made it a fighter/bomber, oh and it was a carrier fighter. No other plane could do as much and as well.
  15. It's a spit but 109k #'s
  16. Good info http://www.spitfireperformance.com/spit14v109.html
  17. Thanks, good info
  18. Was it ever mentioned why the p-51d was only modeled with 67 manifold? Also I've heard Bud Anderson (P-51 ace) talk about shooting down the 109. His conversation made it sound pretty clear he could out maneuver the 109 at will and even shot many down waiting for them to stall before he did. I really don't know but I don't think that many experienced German pilots saw as much action in the K4? I'll have to post the video Here's some info on the K-4. Some have stated 2200HP but only 2000hp and that was with higher octane which wasn't used. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messerschmitt_Bf_109_variants#K-4
  19. Nice kill!
  20. I'm pretty new to the P-51 and my first dozen SP missions against the Dora they ran me down pretty easily. I finally figured out I could turn sharper and finally lined up on their six. All my hits and kills have been on the climb, almost running right into them. Also I blew quite a few engines up in the beginning, overheating until I figured out that it was always happening at lower speeds. Now I watch my gauges closer and keep my speed higher and now I'm not blowing up anymore.
  21. Some good info in this thread. I was wondering why I've been bouncing like a bungy cord coming in at 120! I'll try the 150
  22. Hello, I'm pretty new here so there may be some (a lot of user error). I spent a few nights, a few hours each trying to shoot down these training p-51's with little success. I got a few rounds in a couple the other night but could never get closer then 0.3nm. Tonight I fine tuned my joystick and used the fixed and gyro which seemed better for me? So I was able to get within 0.02 and put some rounds in this p-51, she was smoking pretty good but I never was able to catch back up. I actually turned to quick and almost lost it, but recovered. By then she was about 1.2nm away and I closed up within 0.8 then she actually pulled away from me as she was smoking lol That's not right?
