Same here, I am trying to find out why the default view is very high, as you describe one need to duck to see the full reflector. Meta Quest 3 here, all working fine with other aircrafts.

Little update. I now do not use Openxr toolkit at all, only DCS and Meta quest 3 all working smooth. I use the USB cable

Thanks for the feedback. That is why I felt something is not wrong with those videos showing how to use VR in DCS. I just gave it a try as first shot. Later I will remove these third party sw and just use the Meta tools.... Have you tried without? I will try as well...

I have started to test a Quest 3 with DSC and have started to use these settings (used for 1 hour yesterday only) as explained in this video DCS VR Multiplayer Settings Guide | Quest 3 | 2024 Do one really need to download al lthese 3rd party SW? such as Oculus Tray tool, which is not longer available but one can still download the last revision (OTTSetup_0.87.8). And the OpnXR Toolkit? Shouldn't the Quest 3 just be plug and play with DCS (after configuring the proper settings)? My DCS machine has an ASUS TUF Gaming B650-PLUS WIFI with an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D; ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4070 OC; 64GB Kingston FURY Beast RGB DDR5-6000 DDR5, 2 x Crucial T700 SSD - 2TB. I normally use it with a LG 42" C4 4K OLED evo TV (2024) with all DCSS settings maxed out and works like a charm, super fluid. I use TrackHat and i do not see the need for VR. However, I am trying to force myself to use VR since I have a Quest 3 available. Hopefully with VR I skip to build a full size cockpit.....

Interesting it looks like my shopping list for a new PC. Also returning to DCS after several years off line. For what I read online AMD seems to be a better CPU for gaming in general? Trying to catch up with PC HW as well… I built many PC in the past….

Klem, Thanks for answering! When I got the new rig all worked perfect, the old rig had an HW problem. The new rig has a different processor ( i7-5820K ) still with the GTX980. DCS working very smooth with full settings.

Did further investigation, monitor's reviews, etc...and made a typical purchasing evaluation list in excel in order to have an overview of the monitors I am going to evaluate. Easier to make a decision. The list includes only IPS (VA and similar) monitors, 24"/27" (for triple setup) and 34" single monitor setup. I only listed the IPS/VA monitors that, according to reviews, have the best response time and a good overall screen. I have nearly decided to go for a curved 34" monitor as price vs. a triple 24"/27" setup is almost there. A triple setup with curved 27" is very tempting.... I did not include TN gaming monitors (122/144Hz, G-Sync, etc.). The brands I selected are DELL, LG, AOC, EIZO, Philips, Samsung. Did not have time to look a BenQ nor ASUS for the moment. General: It looks like DELL has well tuned IPS monitors especially the Ultrasharp series starting with U+4numbers+M or H. They all use LG IPS panels but the driving electronics is better tuned that LG's owns screens. The built quality is also superior to LG owns...including quality control and guarantee (you can purchase up to 4yrs Dell guaranty for a good price). AOC also uses the same LG panels as Dell and LG own monitors. Samsung uses own VA panels. Philips uses TP Vision panels (A Philips OEM partner) and EIZO uses VA panels from Sharp. To the monitors: AOC: - 34" (Flat) u3477Pqu DELL: - Ultra Sharp U2412M - Ultra Sharp U2414M - Ultra Sharp U2414H - Ultra Sharp U2415 - Ultra Sharp U2415H - Curved Ultra Sharp U3415W EIZO: - Foris FG2421-BK (this one has an excellent VA panel with Turbo Boost 120/240Hz). The only thumb down is the fixed stand not supporting a VESA mounting kit for a multi monitor setup... - Foris FS2434 (This is a newer monitor from 2014 with IPS panel this time(60HZ). Very nice ultra-slim frames very good for a triple setup. Not as fast as the previous model FG2421. And yes it supports VESA. LG: - 34" (Flat) 34UM65 (Same panel as AOC and DELL) - 34" Curved 34UC87 (this one has a better stand than the Curved 34UC97) Phillips: - 40" 4K LED BDM4065UC/00 (I mentioned this one earlier) I tried it and seems a really nice monitor and quite fast indeed...The only negative point is the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) used here...probably due to a quick marketing decision to come up with such type of product and built with an off the shelf panel from TP Vision (Panel type TP VisionTPT400LA-K1QS1.N Rev: SC1A.). I expect better monitors from Phillips coming during next year. Anyway something to consider as the image is very good as well. - 34" BDM3470UP (did not find reviews yet). SAMSUNG: - Curved S27D590C (for a triple monitor setup?) - Curved S34E790C Flat or curved: People's opinion is at 50/50% split for what i read in various forums.. Personally I was the flat type but after some evaluations done at a large electronics store I think I have shifted my opinion to the curved side... With the curved monitor, if only one person is using it, I think it is a really good choice. Looked at 34" monitors and a flat panels makes you shift the vision left and right, depending how far you are going to sit from it. With a curved monitor it really surround your vision nicely. I was skeptic at first. You have to give it a try several times. I wil never buy a curved large TV as it will be uncomfortable for large audience (family) required to sit all near the magic spot.... Conclusions: My near final decision was to go for an AOC 34" (Flat) u3477Pqu or an LG 34" (Flat) 34UM65 as they are in stock now at my location. Then I suddenly hold the fire as I saw that DELL is coming with the new Curved Ultra Sharp U3415W (probably the LG IPS screen), LG has presented the Curved 34UC87 and Samsung the Curved S34E790C all three will be available mid january/february at my location, thus worth waiting for to test them and read some reviews, not available right now. For the 34" option I have the feeling I may go for the DELL Curved Ultra Sharp U3415W (Built quality, guarantee and support). For the 24/27" triple setup option the one of the EIZO Foris series or the SAMSUNG Curved S27D590C will do the job.

weeb, agree with you on Oculus Rift, maybe it is the novelty excitement...definitely some work to be done there....you are correct the focus is on choosing a monitor :-) By the way I see that you have a three monitor setup where the center monitor is the 27 and the other two 24. Something I was considering as well... for example a 29 (center) and 24 for the side monitors?

To drive the Phillips 40" should be fine one of the latest graphic cards (i.e. GTX980...) Eventually the ultimate solution for us (Sim flyers) it will be an Oculus Rift (or similar) once it will be fine tuned... I think I will have a closer look at both the AOC U3477PQU and the LG34UM95 as I would like to stick with one monitor as I use TrackIR it should work well. Anyway I appreciate feedback if anyone has already reached such large display solution (not TV). However, that Phillips 40" seems to be a TV stripped off the TV components, tuner, etc.

Hi, Would like to opt for a 29 to 34 inch monitor after I evaluated the initial idea to use 3 x 24/27 monitors solutions. Had an Asus ROG Swift PG278Q for one month and just delivered back as I prefer an IPS (or VA) monitors, suitable for simulations as i do not play fast paced games.. still response time is important.... Hi Klem, Finally I found one with an NVIDIA GTX980 :-) I have had problems on a new rig with the GTX980 but not sure the PSU was the problem. After some troubleshooting with DCS support (many log files sent) we determined that the problem was somewhere in the HW or HW+drivers so I returned the rig to the builder. I can now order a new rig but before that I have been in several forums (NVIDA, RADEON, etc..) trying to find out if the GTX980 could be the problem because too new. It always take 6 to 12 months before the drivers stabilize on new GPUs.... The problem was an instant PC reboot while flying, almost immediately after one jump into a cockpit or after few minutes of flying or when taxing. Never on a static cockpit image. That's why I suspected the GPU. Maybe it was just that rig having HW issues. My former rig: Windows 8.1 64bit Pro. According to DCS support DCS uses only two CPUs and will not benefit of a multicore but clock frequency is more important than cores. As I will also use X-Plane on the rig then multicore is fundamental..

Had problem on my new rig with NVIDIA GTX980. I could start the DCS and get into a cockpit then during the flight the PC rebooted instantly. This happened randomly, sometimes it rebooted as soon as I get into a cockpit or as soon as I started maneuvering the aircraft or when one jumps into an instant flight. Sometimes I could fly for few minutes then reboot...I have been in communication with support and sent several log files. They concluded the HW problem. I assumed the GTX980 is too new and returned the rig. I am now thinking to reorder the rig with a bit lower specs on the GPU maybe NVIDIA 760 or a model before the GTX980..Anyone has had similar faults? maybe it was just that rig the problem.
