  1. If you were playing with ultimate realism, and if you were being directed by JTAC to a target, they may lase it for you from the ground or from another aircraft and you would use their code? But even then, in this sim, the preset always has worked for me in SP missions. Otherwise, it's the default setting the crew chief programs for you for your aircraft's TGP at mission start, no user input needed.
  2. It's true. A well camo'ed dug in unit, is going to be hard to spot at 10,000. Use the map, use the steer points, use TAD, use labels if you must ( I modified mine to only to be black specs that show up around 3000 meters and then disappear as I close on them). Hey we still don't have 4K 3D displays yet so we need a crutch.
  3. Got it  But I'm not imagining things right? In 0.8 I could just yank on the stick and the wings did not break off. I'm just sayin'
  4. Yup. Bad habits in 0.8 lead to dead in 0.9. I'm clearly fixated on the target, passing 390 indicated this shot is just pulling off the target. 6 Gs ++ it went up to 7
  5. Glad I found this, as I just had this happen. Using the same flying as in .8 I snapped wings off 3 times in a row during gun runs. This was with full load out on Instant Action. Just dive in on the first target and when you pull off hard on the stick the right wing breaks off. Not sure speed, prob around 295. Tried it with speed brakes extended and low throttle, I was able to pull off target and keep my wings. The first couple times I replayed track, not understanding how an unarmed fuel truck could shoot me down!
  6. I just noticed there maybe a change to the way G forces on the aircraft are modeled. I am not that gentle on the controls and in .0.8 I never had wings rip off like in .0.9. I had to go back and watch tracks to see how come I was losing wings coming off strafing runs. I though perhaps I was getting hit with MANPADS, but no, it's when I yank and bank. Wing rips off. Third time in a row, so it must be I was flying outside the envelope in .0.8 and it caught up to me.
  7. On keyboard try TAB key HTH
  8. True. You might want to change that color value unless you have psychic ability or are being given intel in some assumed mode during flight briefing as to which side is where. And you hope it's a seal not AAA. It's imperfect because a person or a tank uses the same code. 1000m might be better. But by then, the guns may open up on you. 5000m might just save you if you spot the gun. ColorAliesSide = {0, 0, 0} ColorEnemiesSide = {0, 0, 0}Then everyone looks the same. A speck.
  9. Here's my mod setting's for "Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C\Config\View\labels.lua" AirFormat = {} AirFormat[1000] = "" AirFormat[10000] = "'" GroundFormat = {} GroundFormat[500] = "" GroundFormat[5000] = "." NavyFormat = {} NavyFormat[1000] = "" NavyFormat[10000] = "." WeaponFormat = {} WeaponFormat[5000] = "." -- Colors in {red, green, blue} format, volume from 0 up to 255 ColorAliesSide = {100, 0, 0} ColorEnemiesSide = {0, 0, 100} PS it's actually (blue, green, red format) for me in the sim. Otherwise your pals will show up RED!!!
  10. The problem I was having was I was getting through the start up procedure and getting airborne before ALIGN was complete. I was able to arm EAC ( the switch the left of the autopilot button) only after getting airborne and waiting for ALIGN to complete. IOW, not on the ground. I was too impatient - not following the rules. Needless to say, the EAC switch must be up (armed) to engage autopilot in V 1.0.0.8. If it flicks back down when you push it, ALIGN is not complete. Or HARS is still selected in the front panel. Otherwise, the problem may be that you are outside of the engage parameters when hitting the autopilot button.
  11. Thanks! I needed that pdf. Plus the symbology info. I still have not learned the various RWR icons. I assume 16 and 18 are F-16 and F-18 and love seeing those appear or AWACS. So Far, I have not seen any of the more deadly SAM's like the SA-6 and SA-8 in the included missions, or maybe that's because I am staying close to waypoints and taskings. I have battled the Strellas and Tungustas. Are these 30-40,000 foot ceiling SAM's around or only in custom missions? I try to stay above 10K usually more like 14.
  12. I was testing CCIP release mode at various altitudes. Pickling the bombs on the middle of the group is the way to go unless they are moving. But there are some hazards with these bombs even though they are supposed to fall behind. Wings are not completely level but the trajectory of the bombs is somewhat random anyway. Sometimes one bomb will fly out 300-400 feet laterally. Again, they are not spinning like in real life. I've been reading that A-10's did use BSU-49's in the Gulf wars. Here's a vid, much higher altitude than I've been using.
  13. Quick question, in the profiles, LGB's default to no auto lase. I was thinking that auto lase at 8 secs was a good thing and make sense in the heat of battle, it takes a while to change the profile mid flight. Wouldn't a data cartridge have an auto-lase as the default and let the pilot disengage that if ground troopers were providing lasing?
  14. Druid, perhaps that is correct, I was following instructions from a previous topic and never did test that out. I just assumed lead vehicle was the release point. Watching tracks from level attacks, pickling at lead target, it seems correct as all vehicles were destroyed in the sim. I am able to take out the line without them falling short. So it's a conundrum. Anyone know if middle of the pack it correct for low level runs in the F-111?
  15. Quote "Why did they plant trees there? C'mon! " .....then a few seconds later, "Got it." LMAO Nice. See you had it all along, it just took a little while. Now get back to reading the manual...twice!
  16. Charlie_01 don't listen to them. Mk.82 Airs are great on undefended targets such as suspected truck parks. Also an excuse to get down in the mud at low altitude. Record the track and play it back from the ground POV. I have to admit though, they do travel a bit too far laterally. Perhaps that's because the sim is not rotating the bombs and ballutes correctly? That would stabilize lateral drift. Load 12 Mk82 airs, set to ripple single all of them. Get some speed in the dive, level out at around 800 AGL, you should see the pipper ahead of you. Pickle on the front vehicle of the target. Go lower for less dispersal, but it's still shock and awe!
  17. It takes a while to digest all the many details and HOTAS programming when you first start. You are not alone in that! Just play some of the Youtube JTAC vids or training missions. You have to get to the JTAC "sending data" to your TAD section, make TAD SOI, "ACK"nowledge the message, and WILCO (will comply) the mission, then use the TAD cursor to select the red triangle and make that SOI. Set your HUD to TAD SOI for steering. Slave the TGP to SOI. You'll get it soon enough! Others will give a more concise explanation. daveb
  18. Thanks Nate, I use CNTL Z all the time. Sometimes I just want to get the target sent to my TAD so I can go hunting. If I'm not in the mood for the long reality check version and just the "give me the target location and I'll go destroy it" version! :gun_smilie:
  19. Is it possible to FF through the exchanges with JTAC, I cringe every time I need to contact them to see what they have. Perhaps have an option to skip to the next action point in the radio dialog? Or, maybe it's there already, like the magic "TAB" key to step back in the hierarchy.:book:
  20. Back in 1990, with 512megs of RAM, Carrier Command was remarkable for it's UAV simulation. It's a great feeling to know that if this is what's here today in sim technology, in a few years, it will blow this away with computing power and memory expanding exponentially. That's what we have to look forward to - the splash screen with the two CGI A-10's and the F-16 against a real aerial photo will be the game itself, but in the mean time, as beginners with all the systems modeled in this sim, the developers have given us so many cool things to work out. I've gotten to the point with JTAC where they assign a target at night, send the data link to the TAD, you make that your SPI and use your TGP to search out the target with WHOT, then tell the ground units to SPARKLE with infrared. Turn on your NV goggles and pin point your target!
  21. I had the same problem last week. Here on DCS forums I learned "TAB" steps back in the radio directory. Simple as that! (it's not that obvious) Cheers!
  22. My newest mk.82 Airs deployment video. For entertainment purposed only. I know I'm doing it wrong.
  23. Here you go sirrah, thanks for the mod
  24. I was going to create a movie using cockpit cams and airframe cams. Riddle me this: I have made the edits to server.lua and if I go into instant action, I can see the new LSHift F4 GoPro camera angles! Perfect! But I wanted to use a mission made before I edited server.lua. If I load up that mission and fly, these new views do not work. Nor do they work for any tracks made from that mission. I have not tried creating a brand new mission since the edits to see if will work. But obviously, the mission is not using the edited file.
  25. I tired it and then realised I am flying in SP not a server. I am looking for the SP file that does the same thing as server.lua. view.lua does not have those parameters so this is really only relevant to MP views? I'd like to do the same in SP. I have noticed terrain restriction on the enemy views when I pan around in SP. Speaking of videos, how do I activate AVI recording, is there a keyboard hotkey assigned?
