  1. Apologies if this has been covered somewhere before; I can't find it... I am aware their is an 'auto-start-up' button. When pressed it only seems to take me so far into the start up procedure. Does anybody know what I would have to do to finish the job - IE: up to what state of the manual start-up procedure does the auto start-up button take you? Right now I'm editing missions so I can start in the air, but when it comes to the campaign I presume I'll need to know this. Sorry if I sound like a lazy flyer, but I can't bring myself to do the whole procedure manually every time.
  2. When you get a near miss from a SAM do you feel like the game physics and or cockpit camera do it justice? [i'm not talking about the SAM hits that send you plummeting to the ground here] I feel like the explosions which happen near your cockpit should buffet the plane about more. I'd love to see camera shake and whatever else the ED designers can dream up become implemented to reflect this. I'm sure it's realistic how it is - but for a bit of added drama it'd be nice. You guys agree or happy how it is?
  3. Thanks for the quick and full replies! :) Great news
  4. The features for DCS A-10 claims to include: Improved Ground Force AI If a moving ground group is engaged, the group will disperse and evade Some groups will pop smoke if engaged Firstly, is this confirmed? ; Anyone actually seen em do it yet? Secondly, is it effective and thus pose more of a challenge? And most importantly - the reason I never got into black shark is because it felt like more of a shooting range - and thus I would like to know if they can implement this new ground AI into BS?? Anyone know?
  5. RE - Cyclic and Engine What i've noticed.... To go backwards and give yourself more time on a shoot you can increase the cyclic and trim up at first to go back and then down to level out for a shoot. In order to get up some speed you can increase cyclic and then trim down. To get in low and slow you can decrease cyclic and engine power , but when you need to power out of there make sure you increase the cyclic back up a bit and the engine power. Oh and.... Decrease cyclic and power up engines to do some nice sharp turns! Oh and make sure you have Autopilot director ON ! Not the clearest but I'd like to know if you agree with any of this...??
  6. this Sim is just so much fun!!! I just finally got the relationship between the angle of the blades and the power :smartass: I was rotating (almost) on the spot / going backwards, and hovering to get the best shot in the 'instant action' mode. A bit like learning to ski - so much fun when you know how. A pain in the butt till you do!
  7. Having played both F4 and BS in the last couple of hours I can say that while BS lacks dynamic ground AI, the designers seem to have done an excellent job of giving the illusion that the ground forces are trying to outsmart you. The campaign in BS is dramatic, through and through - especially those streams of rockets coming at your ground troops you are supposed to be protecting! Falcon 4 really does make you feel engaged in a war - its hardly 'gamey' as redtiger said (IMO) , but in F4, as in real life, drama is randomised - you make your own fun in F4. That said, you can count on an exciting ride with BS.
  8. Whats the AI of the Air / Ground Units like from your experience? Would you say it is significantly better than in LO-MAC or FC?? Any particularly impressive stories regarding enemy AI?
  9. anyone else found that if you turn off the clickable cockpit (alt +c I think) it speeds up the game a little?
  10. very easy to understand and very useful. Thankyou!!!!
  11. thanks! sorted - looks great now - just like the encyclopedia! + Flaming cliffs looks awesome now too. Now just to get the game to use both my cpu's and i'll begin to get going!
  12. yeah that occurred to me as i was out - thanks !!
  13. Ok if you say so - Don't get me wrong I have a v good spec pc but the graphics dont look quite as polished or as clear as the ones in the encyclopedia. Anyway - it could be to do with vista - as I remember lock on looked considerably better on XP than it did when I put it on Vista. Something do do with the shadows maybe?/? Could other Vista users maybe tell me if they notice a difference? Cheers
  14. can you clarrify - are the in game graphics such as the planes etc looking as hi-res and polished as they do in the encyclopedia??? Mine dont'!
  15. ...Are they photoshopped to look that good? I mean should the graphics in the game reflect the quality of the graphics from the encyclopedia? Just a silly question I know but I want to enjoy the game to its full! Cheers
