You might want to get in touch with Merker and the A-4E-C team, they made a CBU-2 dispenser which might help you.

The A-4E-C will not roll at idle power, so if your's is, you have a throttle problem. -

Have you updated to the most recent version? Brakes were strengthened to help prevent overruns, in the mean time there is no reason to "pump" the brakes, simply hold them. By the way make sure you're actually getting to idle throttle with your curves, as the Spoilers will not deploy unless Idle as a safety system. -

Currently it is impossible to use ground power on the carrier with the A-4E-C module. Rick is right, it's on the first page. If you want to do a mission from the carrier deck in an A-4E-C, you need to have your loadout selected from the mission editor when you spawn in. -

Could it be a materials problem? Because I've flown headfirst into SA3 sites and bounced missiles off the nose and been fine, but then get shot at by AAA and have it destroy me. The A-4 was quite good at taking damage because of the simple strong wing, but not quite that tough XD. -
How did the buddy store system work from a switchology perspective? Was a new panel mounted or did it work off of already existing controls?

The A-4E-C is still impervious to all missiles that I've run into so far. -

I've been having this really weird and incredibly annoying bug. For some transmissions, and it seems totally random, the volume will start low, then increase as the volume grows and grows and grows until incredibly loud. It's in the Skyhawk but no one else I've been flying with seems to have this issue.

Leaning around sticks doesn't work as well as you'd think in TrackIR, trust me I've tried. First of all the sensor can easily get lost leading to your view flailing wildly, and second looking down and over when the screen is in front of you can be a hassle. This is to say nothing of folks who have back injuries and leaning forward like that can be quite uncomfortable.

A4E carrier lighting control using ATC?
Tirak replied to Harley Davidson's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Radios are not accessible without the SDK. The only people you can talk to with the radio menu is ground crew with the canopy open. -

Can this be limited only to Missiles as the A-4 is damaged by cannon fire. -

Radar is pretty simple in the Skyhawk and operates in 3 1/2 modes. Gos did a series of videos on before he died. The 3 modes are Search, Terrain Avoidance and Air To Ground Ranging. Search produces a 5 degree thick cone that looks out 30 degrees in front of you. The hash marks from center to outside on the screen represent 6 degrees, 18 degrees and 30 degrees, with you having to figure out the distortion yourself (It's a cone looking plotted on a square plot). It's good for finding coast lines and large terrain features, though I haven't had any luck finding ships with it. The Long/Short switch will swap between 40 miles and 20 miles. Terrain Avoidance is where the 3 1/2 modes comes in. When in normal mode, using the detail dial on the display will narrow the search cone to 1 degree thick, which will allow you to scan for things only directly in front of you, letting you move through mountains and canyons with some practice. The Long/Short switch will look between 10 and 20 miles. The 1/2 part comes from the Plan switch. If you turn that on the radar changes from a top down view to a sideways view, with your plane represented by the plane figure on the left. The line indicates a 1000ft altitude line and has the distortion already accounted for by how it drops to the bottom of the plot. In this mode the OBST light and alarm will sound if your flight path puts you closer than 1000ft altitude over the terrain in front of you. If you keep the radar figures below the line, you're safe. The Long/Short switch swaps between I believe 2 and 4 miles. Radar angle knob doesn't function in this mode. A/G is the final mode, and it's a slant range calculator with each line going vertically on the plot representing 4000 yards. You need to be at a dive angle of at least 15 degrees for it to function, you can't use the radar angle knob and there is no Long/Short option. Use it for accurate employment of rockets and shallow angle dive bombing. -

For now there is no way to know if the Shrike has the target or not, just put it over the SAM site and pop it off and pray. If I'm not mistaken though, I believe Merker indicated they were going to give it a growl, but I may be entirely misremembering that as I can't find it in my notes. -

Make sure you're on the most recent version. The original release's guns were bugged. -
Flare and chaff on A4?
Tirak replied to Harley Davidson's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Yes that's what I'm saying. The switch needs to be switched to to be enabled, instead of just working from the get go. So you need to cycle it. -
Flare and chaff on A4?

Quick note, the dispensers are a bit bugged, so after you turn on the system, make sure to cycle through all 3 switch positions for bank selection, then you can use any of them properly. If you don't, they won't dispense when commanded. -

Was this just an aborted experiment that you guys tried Merker, or is this a functionality the team is still trying to put into place? -

Yep, Navigation works like a charm and is easy. The nav system can only handle 2 waypoints. First you need to set the Nav selector switch to Standby, then also set the waypoint selector switch to standby, and set your radar switch to standby. There is a 3 to 5 minute warmup for these systems, but I don't believe the NAV system has that warmup in place. Switch the Nav selector to LAND, then change the waypoint selector switch to D2 to have it set your current position as the D2 waypoint. Then switch the waypoint selector switch to D1 and set the target latitude and longitude. Then flip the BDHI switch up and your compass will then show which direction to fly. When you want to go home, switch the waypoint selector knob to D2 and it'll lead you there. For a more in depth guide with more clear step by step instructions with pictures and arrows, look at chapter 11 of Wheelyjoe's A-4E-C Skyhawk guide found here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/19b0jAdSRAZ0nmUxemZ05EFIfX0oeeSC5 -

As far as I know the A-4 shouldn't pass the IC, you have to remove it when you want to play on a server that uses the IC -

I've had no problems with TrackIR, I'd suggest making a profile for the Skyhawk and adjusting it to your needs. The damage model seems to ignore missiles, but Merker is aware and I believe the team is working on fixing that. The plane is still vulnerable to guns though, so there is that. As others have noted, for some reason you need to cycle the countermeasure banks through 1 and 2 before going back to both after startup to get it to work. No idea why. -

There is precision mode, or you could set up individual profiles. -
Nope The book explicitly states that it could handle later SAMs and gun laying radars, just that aside from the PRF there wasn't much information provided. It didn't tell you explicitly what was being fired at you, from what direction and how dangerous that threat was to you, ala modern RWR displays. Your mod is accurate in terms of anyone aiming at you setting it off.

From the other thread: https://books.google.com/books?id=ubDgAwAAQBAJ&pg=PA267&lpg=PA267&dq=a-4e+radar+warning+receiver&source=bl&ots=zC3IASwt1f&sig=8Iby7H27qr6c2B8SAjwHemY2S3w&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjL0oLyxPLeAhUnrYMKHdeLDG0Q6AEwCXoECAAQAQ#v=onepage&q=a-4e%20radar%20warning%20receiver&f=false So aside from the SAM light the mod is pretty accurate. Haven't tested it against gun radars yet though, which it should also be able to detect.
